Claims (3)

1. A rail vehicle including a device providing easy access to the vehicle during station stops, the device comprising a ramp (30) designed to be received beneath the floor of the vehicle while the vehicle is running and to be rested on a platform (1) during a station stop, and a guide and drive mechanism for the ramp situated beneath the vehicle floor, the vehicle being characterized in that the device comprises a sill (20) articulated between two extreme positions, namely a horizontal position while the vehicle is running thus constituting a portion of the floor (12) of the vehicle, and a sloping position constituting together with a portion (32) of the ramp (30) which is likewise sloping a continuous ramp providing access to the vehicle.

A vehicle according to claim 1, characterized in that the portion (31) of the ramp (30) situated adjacent the guide and drive mechanism is guided and driven horizontally in a slideway (41), and in that the ramp (30) bears continuously against wheels (52) mounted on an articulated arm (50), said wheels supporting the sill in its horizontal position, and rotation of the arm (50) causing the sill (20) and the ramp (30) to slope.
3. A vehicle according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that it includes a protective flap (60) for completely masking the sill, the ramp, and the guide and drive mechanism while the vehicle is running.
