Definitions
- the present invention relates to an electrical protection switch device provided with separable contacts, automatic tripping means for opening the contacts on fault and on and off push-buttons for manual opening and closing of the contacts.
- switch devices whose housing is generally prismatic in shape and comprises a base and a cover.
- the on and off pushbuttons are worn relative to the front face of the housing in the depressed position and respectively in the extended position in the operating state of the device and in the extended position and respectively in the depressed position in the off state of the apparatus.
- switch devices are sometimes installed in the same cabinet to constitute a centralized control. It is therefore not easy to record such or such a switching device individually except by placing it in a specific envelope arranged to allow individual locking. This arrangement is bulky and complicated.
- the object of the invention is to avoid these drawbacks using simple means which are particularly well suited to protective switch devices of the written type.
- the on push-button has a through recess which is uncovered in the extended position of said button; a removable member for locking the operating push button is provided for being inserted into the recess of the button parallel to the front face of the device and in front of this face; the removable locking member carries a grip range, a stop element against the button and a range provided with at least one orifice for the passage of a padlock.
- the individual locking thus obtained is particularly simple, compact, and when the switch device is of the modular type, suitable for mounting the device in a box window.
- the removable locking member is constituted by a flat monobloc bar of which a square part constitutes the grip range and the stop element, the other part of the bar carrying three orifices for the passage of padlocks from various trades.
- the flat bar and the associated recess of the start button are preferably perpendicular to the front face of the device housing and, when the housing consists of a base and a removable cover, can advantageously be used to avoid disassembly of the cover vis-à-vis the base.
- the protection device illustrated in FIG. 1 is a motor protection circuit breaker comprising an insulating housing 10 of modular type which includes terminals for the connection of electrical conductors to an energy source and to a motor; the device is tripotary and has for each pole separable contacts and associated magnetic and / or thermal means for automatic triggering.
- the housing 10 consists of a base 11 and a cover 12 which is attached and removably attached to the base.
- start push button 14 and stop push button 15 are provided on the front face 13 of the cover 12 of the housing a start push button 14 and a stop push button 15 carried alternately in a depressed position and in an extended position relative to the front face 13 of the circuit breaker to allow manual control opening and closing of contacts.
- FIG. 2 shows the on button 14 in its out position 14A and the stop button 15 in its depressed working position 15B; and in FIG. 3, the on button 14 in its depressed working position 14B and the off button in its released position from rest 15A.
- a locking bar 20 of the step push-button 14 in the out position 14A of rest of said button.
- the bar 20 cooperates for this purpose with a narrow and through slot 21 formed in the operating button perpendicular to the front face 13 of the circuit breaker.
- the bar 20 has a grip area 22, a stop element 23 against the start button and a pad support area 24 provided with three holes 25 for the passage of three padlocks, one of which is shown in dashes in FIG. 4 .
- the arrangement of the slot 21 and of the general plane of the bar 20 perpendicular to the front face 13 of the circuit breaker and in front of it contributes to facilitating the installation of padlocks; on the other hand, in particular when only the front face 13 of the circuit breaker protrudes into the window 26 of the front wall 27 of a box (see FIGS. 1 and 5), the aforementioned arrangement makes it easy to install and remove padlocks.
- the bar is chamfered at 28 to facilitate its introduction into the through slot 21 of the button 14 and has a square fold 29 to form the gripping area 22 and the stop element 23.
- the device described operates in the following manner.
- the circuit breaker having been automatically or manually put in the open position of the contacts (FIGS. 1 and 2), the operator who wishes to lock the state of rest of the circuit breaker puts the bar 20 vertically in the recess 21 ; the latter descends until its square fold 29 abuts against the upper face of the button 14; in this stop position, the pad 24 carrying the orifices 25 is entirely below the button and therefore allows the operator to introduce the padlock assigned to it in one of the three orifices 25 (FIG. 4) to lock the button in position 14A and thus prevent any closing of the contacts.
- the cover 12 of the housing 10 being fixed to the base by means such as a screw 30, and the power button being secured via a support with the base 11, it is understood that the locking bar simultaneously serves to hold the cover in position on the base.
- the removable locking member can be constituted by an elongated member having a thinned part capable of passing through a recess of the start button.
- the recess is a slot, this can be arranged parallel to the front face of the circuit breaker.

Abstract
