Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a device for connecting a boot with a ski and more particularly the end of the latter.
  • the device according to the invention may possibly be used as one of the elements connecting the front and / or the rear of the boot in the case of skiing on the piste, it is however more specially designed, in the part of the present invention, as a binding intended to connect only the front end of the boot to the ski, the heel being free to lift, as occurs in the practice of cross-country skiing or touring.
  • binding devices if they prove to meet the technical requirements for the practice of cross-country skiing, in particular at the level of the effort of retaining the shoe sole on the ski, have the disadvantage of being maneuverable. manually; these maneuvers are relatively tedious because the skier must bend down on the front while performing a significant flexion where there is a risk of imbalance, or even put a knee on the ground, which is often difficult depending on the quality of the snow and / or ground.
  • fastening devices comprising a pivoting lock on an articulated frame, it is not only necessary to release said lock before presentation of the shoe on the binding, which is also true in bindings of the Nordic standards type, but it is also necessary to return the lock to the corresponding sole part.
  • a cross-country ski binding assembly of the type described above and in particular comprises a hooking portion linked to the boot, a support piece or stirrup connected to the ski and intended to receive the attachment part, and an elastic locking device intended to retain said attachment part on the support piece, a fixing support ensuring the connection of the device to the ski;
  • the elastic locking device is constituted by a pivoting lock between a fitting position and a heaving position, and an elastic system associated in pivoting with the lock so that the action of its elastic member, or spring, urges said lock in its extreme positions.
  • the lock is pivotable about an axis on which it is supported during its movements between its heaving position and its boot position and vice versa, while in the boot position said lock is only supported on the attachment portion of the shoe and the support piece, its pivot axis then being floating.
  • the pivot axis is integral with the support and the lock comprises a housing of larger section through which said axis passes.
  • the pivot axis of the lock is materialized by a semi-circular housing obtained on the support in which is engaged a profiled part of the lock, preferably of conjugate profile; when the lock is in the boot position, the elastic system applies the latter to the attachment portion of the shoe by causing it to pivot about its point of support on said attachment portion until it comes into stop on the support piece; said latch thereby leaving its first support in the semi-circular housing of the support.
  • the latch is pivotally arranged to be stable in its fitting and removing positions.
  • the latter is provided 'a pedal hilling operable with the attachment portion of the shoe.
  • the locking device can be maneuvered between its fitting and removing positions by means of the elastic member arranged to present at least one gripping part.
  • the support of the binding device can be provided with a flexion zone or with an axis of rotation and include at least one stop. intended to limit the amplitude of movement of said ski boot.
  • Figures 1 to 7 show a first embodiment.
  • Figures 1 and 2 are perspective views; Figure 1 showing the device in the active retaining position, Figure 2 showing the latter in an inactive non-retaining position.
  • FIGS 3, 4 and 5 show, in partial section along V-V of Figure 6, different operating phases.
  • Figure 3 shows the device in its initial fitting position.
  • Figure 4 shows the device in an intermediate fitting position.
  • Figure 5 shows the device in its retaining position.
  • Figure 6 shows the device, in partial top view, in its retaining position.
  • Figure 7 is a sectional view along VII-VII of Figure 5.
  • Figure 8 is a view similar to Figure 7 showing a variant.
  • Figures 9, 10 and 11 show, in elevation. the different operating phases of a device according to a second embodiment.
  • Figure 12 is an elevational view of another alternative embodiment of the elastic system of a device according to the invention.
  • Figures 13, 14 and 15 show, in elevation, the different operating phases of a device according to a third embodiment.
  • Figures 16 and 17 show, top view and in elevation, another embodiment of the support piece associated with a device still according to the invention.
  • Figures 18, 19 and 20 schematically represent, by way of example, various possible modes of connection of a device according to the invention to a ski.
  • the device comprises a hooking part (1) integral with the boot (2), a support piece (3) connected to the ski (4) via of a support (5), and a locking system (6) intended to retain the hooking part (1) on the support piece (3) by means of a removable lock (7), pivoted around 'an axis (8) relative to the support (5) and subjected to the action of an elastic member such as the spring (9).
  • the latch (7) is advantageously provided with a pressure nose (10) which, under the stress of the spring (9) ,. figure 1, is applied on the hooking part (1) and against the workpiece support (3) like a wedge.
  • the spring (9) is pivotally mounted by the ends (11) of its lateral strands (12) on the support while its middle part (13) is under pressure at an actuation point (140 ) on the actuation zone (14) of the lock; the pivot axis (8) of said latch being located between the ends (11) of the spring and its actuation zone (14).
  • the lock is biased respectively in position putting on or taking off; the ends (11) of the spring (9), the middle part (13) thereof, and. the axis (8) of the lock, constituting the three points of a toggle.
  • Bosses (15) and (16) formed on the latch (7) constitute the limits of the actuation zone (14) of the spring (9).
  • the extreme shoeing and / or heaving positions that the lock is capable of adopting are determined, respectively, by the support piece (3) against which the pressure nose (10) is biased, FIG. 1, and by stops (17) obtained on the support (5) on which the middle part (13) of the spring (9) comes to bear.
  • the pivot axis (8) of the lock (7) is mounted floating in a housing (19) produced on the support (5) so that the axis (a.) Loses all support in said housing when the pressure nose (10) of said lock is applied to the attachment part (1) of the shoe, as visible in FIG. 1; conversely, when the latch (7) is operated in the heaving position, the axis (8) resumes support in the housing (19) of the support; the pressure nose (10) of said latch leaving its support on the hooking part.
  • FIGS. 3, 4 and 5 in FIG.
  • the latch (7) is in the stable heaving position; the middle part (13) of the spring (9) has passed beyond the plane (25), passing through the ends (11) of the strands (12) of said spring and of the fulcrum of the axis (8) of the latch (7) in the housing (19) of the support (5) and, under the effect of the elastic return of this part (13) which tends to return to the plane of the lateral strands (12), the latch is held against the stops (17) of the support (5).
  • the lock (7) is provided with a pedal (26) which can be maneuvered using the hooking part (1) of the shoe (2) when said part is engaged from above. bottom along (27) on the support piece (3).
  • the hooking part (1) of the shoe (2) caused the lock (7) to pivot according to (28) by action according to (27) on the pedal (26) of the latter and the middle part (13) of the spring (9) has been brought substantially into the plane (25); in this position, the lock is in an unstable equilibrium position because the direction of action of the spring is superimposed on the alignment of the support points (11), (8) and (13) of the toggle joint.
  • the latch (7) switches to the fitting position, FIG. 5, under the effect of the elastic thrust of said middle part (13) of the spring (9) which slides over the actuation zone (14) to find support against the boss (16) while approaching the plane defined by the side strands (12 ) of said jurisdiction.
  • a boss (31) is associated with said support piece, on the side opposite to the stop zone (30); preferably, the boss (31) extends over the support piece at least substantially at the height of the raising pedal (26) when the lock (7) is in the lifting position, FIG. 3, and is centered on said support piece while the pressure nose (10) is obtained with a recess (32) providing passage to said boss, visible in Figures 2 and 6; thus, by engaging the attachment portion (1) on the support piece (3), according to (27), said portion (1) slides first on r the face (33) of the support piece then on the boss (31), which forces the shoe to advance towards the abutment zone (30).
  • the thickness of the boss will depend on the passage to be obtained for the pressure nose (10). It will be noted, in this embodiment of the device described so far, that the middle part (13) of the spring (9) can move over the actuation zone (14) between the bosses (15) and (16) of the lock; considering that during normal skiing the skier is likely to cause efforts on the shoe tending to release the hooking portion (1) of the boot shoe (3), the forces antagonistic to those of the spring (9) will be absorbed elastically by said spring, the middle part (13) of which will slide more or less over the actuation zone.
  • a notch (34), FIGS. 3, 4 and 5 is advantageously provided at the base of the boss (16) in the extreme locking position which the middle part (13) of the spring thus stopped in position on the actuation zone (14).
  • the spring itself as a lever and to push it back and forth according to (35), Figure 4.
  • the middle part (13) will come out of the notch (34) and slide on the actuation zone (14) to abut against the boss (15); traversing the area (14), the action of the spring passes on the other side of the fulcrum (28) of the pressure nose (10), which causes the latch (7) to tilt and therefore its axis (8 ) against the housing.
  • the stops (17) will advantageously be produced as close as possible to the equilibrium threshold (25) so that, when raising the force to be provided according to (27), FIG. 3, by means of the attachment part, either all the smaller as well as the necessary stroke of engagement on the part support.
  • the stops (17) can be provided adjustable for example.
  • the axis (8) of pivoting of the lock (7) is integral with the latter, FIG. 7, while the housing (19) is formed on the support (5).
  • the lock (7) may comprise two wings forming a mortise on the side of its part pivoted on the support and the latter, being housed in the manner of a tenon in said mortise; the connection between the bolt and the support being carried out as previously using a pin (8) such as in FIGS. 7 and 8.
  • the pivot axis (40) of the lock (41) is materialized by a semicircular housing (42) formed on the support (43), housing against which the lock is kept under pressure, FIGS. 9 and 10, by its profiled part (44), of conjugate profile, using the spring (45).
  • the stable unlocked position, FIG. 9, is obtained by means of a stop (170), produced on the support (43), against which the latch (41) comes to bear under the effect of the action of the spring (45 ).
  • the operating mode is identical to that of the preceding embodiments; in fact, as soon as the balance threshold (46) is crossed by the actuation point (140) of the spring which bears in the housing (141), FIG.
  • the latch is driven in rotation along (47) and its pressure nose (48) engages on the attachment portion (1) of the shoe (2); when the pressure nose (48) bears on the hooking part (1), such as in (49), FIG. 11, the latch is then pivotally driven along (47) around this support (49). and its profiled part (44) leaves its support in the housing (42).
  • a shoulder (58) is provided on the latch to serve as a screw stop -to the upper part (59) of the support piece (3).
  • the springs (9, 45) which constitute the energy member of the device are formed so as to serve as manual operating means. It is however easy to design, FIG. 12, an operating means (50) integral with the lock (51).
  • the spring (52) is obtained in the form of a tension spring hooked by its end (53) to the support (54) and by its end (55) to a support piece (56 ) capable of being moved over the actuation zone (57) constituted by a substantially radiated ramp.
  • the lock (51) is pivoted in accordance with the assembly of FIG. 8.
  • the device according to the invention differs from that described in Figures 9, 10 and 11, in particular by the embodiment of the pivoting means as well as the spring; in fact, the latch (60) is provided with a pivot axis (61) while the housing (62) receiving said axis is produced on the support (63).
  • the pivot axis (61) is supported on the housing (62) under the action of the spring (64), the actuation point of which (140) is passed below the equilibrium threshold (66).
  • the lock has been moved along (65) to the threshold (66) of unstable equilibrium; the axis (61) is then always in abutment against the housing (62).
  • the lock is supported on the hooking portion (1) of shoe (2); the direction (67) of the action of the spring (64) on the latch passing beyond the support (68) of the latter on the attachment part, the latch pivots according to (69) around this support and its axis (61) leaves its support on the housing (62).
  • the spring (64) is produced with at least one turn (70) elastically deformable in the direction (71), FIG. 15.
  • the support piece (75) can be obtained in the form of a stirrup, the wings (76), constituting latching pins, receive by engagement from top to bottom according to (74 ), Figure 17, the attachment portion (71) of shoe (72) provided with lateral slots (73) of complementary shape, constituting attachment mortises.
  • the latch (77) is pivotally mounted about an axis (78) floating in a housing (79) in the same manner as in the first embodiment, Figures 1 to 5, and the locking when the boot is made in a manner comparable to the previous examples, the pressure nose (80) bearing on a profiled part (81) of the hooking part.
  • the lock (77) is pivotally arranged without a stable heaving position; thus, when the attachment portion (71) of the shoe is removed from the binding, the latch (77) rocks according to (82) under the action of the spring (83), its axis (78) coming to bear against the housing (79) while its heel (84) abuts against the wings (85) of the support (86).
  • Figure 18 shows a first possibility of mounting the device according to the invention on a ski (4) via a support (5) fixed and rigid relative to said ski.
  • the lifting of the shoe heel (2) according to (90) is possible thanks to the flexibility of said shoe in its anterior metatarsal zone (91).
  • the support (95) is pivotally connected to the ski (4) around a transverse axis (92) carried by a base plate (93).
  • the pivoting connection can be subjected to the action of an elastic element promoting the approximation of the boot (2) of the ski (4).
  • the support (96) is provided flexible in an area between its attachment to the ski and the support piece (97) against which the front part (91) of the boot (2) is retained. According to other variants of mobile connections of the device on the ski not shown, stops limit the amplitude of the lifting movement of the shoe heel.
