Abstract

An apparatus for wringing the strands of mops has a housing which supports two lateral carriers for a set of horizontal wringing elements which are installed in the housing and are movable toward and away from the inner side of the front wall of the housing. The wringing elements are pivotable within limits about horizontal axes and have limited freedom of upward and downward movement relative to the lateral walls of the housing so that they can conform the orientation of their profiled front sides to the outlines of adjacent portions of a pile of strands which are introduced into the housing between the front wall and the wringing elements while the carriers maintain such elements in retracted positions. The carriers are formed with horizontal toothed racks mating with gear segments which are rotatably mounted in the housing and can be rotated by a pivotable lever so as to move the carriers and the wringing elements toward or away from the front wall. The end portions of the wringing elements have followers which extend through horizontal slots in the lateral walls of the housing and into bearings provided on the two carriers.

Description

The invention relates to a mop flat press according to the preamble of the first claim.

So far known mop flat presses of this type are relatively simple in their construction, but still have a number of disadvantages. For example, flat mop presses have been known for a long time with an approximately U-shaped housing part, on the open side of which a flat pressing part is provided which is adjustable in the direction of the U-web of the housing. This can be pressed in the direction of the mop via an adjustment lever and an associated lever mechanism when it is in the housing. The adjustable press part is flat and integrally formed so that it forms the fourth wall of the housing. A particular disadvantage of this embodiment is that the mop is not squeezed out sufficiently well if knots or other thickenings are present in the mop fringes. These then practically determine the inner end position of the pressed part and the remaining mop areas are not or not pressurized sufficiently, so that the water or the like liquid in the mop cannot be removed sufficiently well. It should also be noted that the mop is not easy to accommodate reasonably evenly within the pressing space of the flat mop press during practical handling, or that such a uniform placement at least requires considerably more work. An operator, usually a woman who cleans, does not even deal with the usual workflow of accommodating the mop to be pressed out particularly uniformly and advantageously for the pressing out process within the flat mop press. In addition, the i. d. Rule consisting of levers transmission mechanism from the operating lever to the pressing part in the previously known flat mop presses relatively unfavorable, so that the pressing out of the mop requires a relatively large amount of force.

From GB-A-2 011 249 a similar mop press has already become known, which is mounted on a cleaning trolley and in which the moist cleaning mop is pressed against a likewise horizontally arranged but with the pressing by means of a horizontal, approximately vertically movable pressure plate - Housing rigidly connected, perforated counter plate can be pressed. This construction is associated with the disadvantages already mentioned above; In addition, with this flat mop press, the pressure forces are not only transferred to the string-like mop fringes to be pressed out, but first to the holding part for the mop fringes. In addition, it is not provided that this flat mop press can optionally be hung from a cleaning water bucket.

Finally, are known from US-PS A-1 659 505 and DE-GM U-1 912 589 mop presses, in each of which two press plates which are swiveled out laterally are provided next to an upper insertion opening of a screen basket.

In these mop presses soaked textile material such. B. also a cleaning cloth or the like. Inserted into the sieve basket and then pressed out by actuating the adjusting mechanism, with the press plates swiveling over the insertion opening, moving down towards the bottom of the sieve basket and thereby applying and pressing the cleaning cloth or the like.

When pressing out the fringes of a pug, it must be held so that the fringes hang into the strainer basket while the mop holder remains outside. When swiveling the press plates shut, this requires a correspondingly precise positioning so that the mop holder does not get between the swiveled press plates and thus the device is jammed.

In the case of a flat mop holder, this can also be inserted into the sieve basket together with the mop fringes. The mop holder is then acted upon from above by the press plates and presses on the fringes on the one hand. Depending on the shape of the mop holder, however, this can lead to very different squeezing results, since it is not always ensured that the fringes or the like are pressed uniformly. Knots or thickening in the mop fringes or the like can also result in these presses that after the pressing process there is still an undesirable residual moisture in the textile material.

It is therefore the task of creating a mop flat press of the type mentioned at the outset which, in particular, enables the mop to be pressed out uniformly with low residual moisture and at the same time being easy to use.

To solve this problem it is proposed in a mop flat press of the type mentioned that the fixed wall is an impermeable end wall in the operating position above the drain, that the pressed part above the drain is arranged approximately parallel and flat opposite the end wall and movable with the end wall limited an opening for inserting the mop fringes, and that the pressure jaw sections for loading the mop fringes in the pressing position are mounted somewhat tiltably about their longitudinal axes.

With this design of the press, the position of the mop fringes during insertion and holding can be controlled well, since the mop can simply be positioned on the end wall opposite the pressed part without having to take part in the lifting movement of the pressed part. This gives a particularly simple and trouble-free handling. In addition, with this press, the squeezing pressure is exerted laterally on the practically smooth hanging fringes, so that the liquid can drain downwards. This smooth position of the fringes during the lateral pressurization also encourages the fringes to be pressed out almost completely. Due to the somewhat tiltable pressure jaw sections, they can adapt well to the mop or the like to be pressed out, in particular also if this has knots, thickenings or the like. In this way, despite such irregularities in the textile material, a good pressing result with low residual moisture can be achieved.

A mop flat press, designated as a whole by 1, is hereinafter referred to as "press 1" for short. It has a housing 2 with a laterally closed housing frame 3, which is approximately rectangular in plan (FIG. 3) and open at the top. The two side cheeks 4a and 4b of the housing 2 protrude beyond the rear of the housing 6. The lower part of a cleaning mop 8 can be inserted into the upper opening 7 of the housing 2, as indicated by dash-dotted lines in FIG. 1. Such mops, which are used for cleaning floors, etc., are known to have numerous cord-like fringes 8a, some of which are indicated by dashed lines in FIG. 1. If such mops 8 absorb moisture, be it for rinsing and cleaning their fringes 8a, or when wiping liquid off the floor, they should be able to be expressed quickly and easily using the press 1. The lower end of the pug 8 with its fringes 8a is then, as partially indicated in FIG. 1, inserted into the housing 2, and a pressed part 18, which is explained in more detail, is moved with the aid of an actuating lever 11 in the direction of the end wall 5 of the housing 2, so that the moist, cord-like fringes 8a are pressed against the end wall 5 and pressed out. The squeezed liquid, usually cleaning water, can flow down through the drain holes 10 in the housing base 9 in the direction of the arrows 21. 1 and 2, one can also clearly see an attachment slot 20 and a stop 22 at its lower end. With the aid of these attachment slots 20 and stops 22 located in the side walls 4, the entire press 1 can do well in a known manner be placed on the upper edge 23 of a container, indicated by dash-dotted lines in FIG.

The press 1 has a pressed part 18 which is arranged to be displaceable approximately in the direction of the end wall 5 of the housing 2 for pressing out a mop 8 and can be pressed against the mop 8 by an adjusting mechanism 13, which will be described later. According to the invention, the pressing part 18 has, as can be seen particularly well from FIGS. 1 and 2, at least two separate pressure jaw sections 18a and 18b or 18c, of which at least one jaw section, e.g. B. 18a, about its bearing point 26, 27 or 28 in a holder 17 is arranged somewhat pivotably, as indicated by the double arrows 29 in Fig. 1. The double arrows 30 also indicated there are oriented in the direction of guide slots 19, in which the jaw sections 18a to 18c lead when they carry out the pressing or opening movement. In the exemplary embodiment, the press part 18 of the press 1 is provided with three jaw sections 18a, 18b, 18c, which has proven to be advantageous in practice for pressing out the mop 8. With such an arrangement, individual thickenings, knots or the like in the mop fringes 8a cannot lead to wide areas of the mop fringes 8a not being sufficiently pressed on. Rather, the individual jaw sections can adapt well to corresponding sections of the pug 8. This is also favored by the fact that at least two, preferably all, jaw sections 18a, 18b and 18c are arranged on the holder 17 in a somewhat pivotable manner. The clearly visible starting position of the jaw sections 18a, 18b and 18c in FIG. 1, in which the jaw backs 33 are held approximately perpendicular or approximately parallel to the end face 5, is maintained in that the jaw sections 18a, 18b and 18c are located in the guide slots 19 in FIG Guide side wall 4, with the aid of guide bolts 41. The displacement movement of the jaw sections 18a, 18b and 18c, indicated by the double arrows 30, during the pressing out of the pug 8 and its release can be effected in a convenient manner by means of an adjustment mechanism, generally designated by 13. Fig. 2 shows a side cheek 4a of the housing 2, and that with the side cover 31 removed. It can be seen that the adjusting mechanism 13 in each side cheek 4 has one of the already mentioned, guided bracket 17, which has a rack. which leads in a groove-like rod guide 16. A toothed segment 14 engages in the toothing 15a of each toothed rack 15 and is secured against rotation on a common adjusting shaft 12. On the outside the one side cheek 4a, the actuating lever 11 is secured against rotation on this adjusting shaft 12. In Fig. 1, the operating lever 11 is drawn for better clarity, deviating from its actual starting position, pivoted about 60 ° to the right. Its actual position is indicated by dash-dotted lines in FIG. 2 by line 11 '. To adjust the jaw sections 18a, 18b and 18c, the operating lever 11 is pressed down according to the arrow 32 (FIG. 2). As a result, the jaw sections 18a, 18b and 18c are moved according to the double arrows 30 in FIG. 1 in the direction of the end face of the housing 2 with the aid of the mechanism 13 described above. The pressure on the fringes 8a is exerted laterally in the desired manner and the liquid can drain downwards. With the above-described adjustment mechanism 13, a relatively large squeezing force can be transmitted to the mop 8, given otherwise the same conditions, which results in good squeezing.

The side cheek 4b is designed analogously to the side cheek 4a described in more detail in FIG. 2 and contains corresponding parts of the adjustment mechanism 13. In FIG. 1 it can be seen that the pressure surfaces 40 of the jaw sections 18a, 18b and 18c facing the mop 8 are profiled are. They each have a longitudinal rib 39 at the level of the associated guide slot 19. This not only stabilizes the individual jaw sections 18a, 18b and 18c, but also promotes the pressing out of the mop fringes 8a. 2 that the guide sections 41 are provided on the jaw sections 18a, 18b, 18c (indicated by dashed lines), which pass through the guide slots 19 with play. In this way, the individual jaw sections 18a, 18b, 18c are guided on the one hand in such a way that their pressure surface 40 is held approximately parallel to the longitudinal direction of the mop fringes 8a. On the other hand, the clearly visible play in FIG. 2 between the guide pin 41 and the adjacent walls of the guide slot 19 allows each jaw section 18a, 18b, 18c to pivot somewhat about its associated bearing point 26, 27 or 28.

The radius of the toothed segments 14 or the like on the one hand and the toothed racks 15 are preferably designed such that a reduction ratio results in the sense that a pivoting movement of the actuating lever 11 leads to a particularly strong pressing movement in the pressure jaw sections 18.
