Abstract

A method and apparatus for aligning and feeding sheets for printing presses having a conveyor for supplying the sheets individually from a feed stack to the front and side lays in a feed table of the press. The method includes the steps of causing the sheets to strike the front lays, drawing the sheets against a side abutment of the side lay, engaging the sheets from below utilizing a vacuum device and then again pressing the sheets against the front lays. The apparatus includes a vacuum device and front and side lays. The vacuum device includes suction arms disposed below the sheets and ahead of the front lays with respect to the direction of the sheet movement. The front lays are movable reciprocably in the direction of the sheet movement while the side lays are movable transversely to the direction of the sheet movement. The apparatus also includes: a first cam for pivoting the suction arms, a second cam for reciprocating the side lay, and a suction disc for controlling the negative pressure applied to the suction arms, all of which are secured to a single shaft and adjusted and laid out in an angular position to one another so that the sheet, after having been drawn laterally against the side lays, is again engaged by the suction arms and moved into a final position against the front lays.

Die in einer Druckmaschine (nicht dargestellt) zu bedruckenden Bogen 1 werden auf einem Anlagetisch 2 einer Ausrichtstation 3 zugeführt und dort durch Vordermarken 4 und Seitenmarken 5 an der Bogenvorder- und -seitenkante ausgerichtet. Die Vordermarken 4 sind auf einer Welle 6 befestigt, die über eine Steuerkurve 7 und einen Rollenhebel 8 hin- und herschwenkbar ist. Damit kann die Vordermarke 4 in ihre die Bogen ausrichtende Position und anschliessend aus der Bogenbahn herausgeschwenkt werden. In Bogenlaufrichtung vor den Vordermarken 4 sind Sauger 9 mit den Saugflächen 10 in einer Ebene zu der Oberfläche des Anlagetisches 2 in Schlitzen 11 des Anlagetisches 2 angeordnet. Die Sauger 9 sind auf einer Welle 12 befestigt, die über eine Steuerkurve 13 und Rollenhebel 14 hin- und herverschwenkbar ist. Koaxial mit der Steuerkurve 13 auf einer Welle 25 ist eine Steuerscheibe 15 mit entsprechenden Steuerschlitzen 16 vorgesehen. Bei Verdrehen der Steuerscheibe 15 werden die Kanäle 17, 18 eines Steuergehäuses 19 über die Steuerschlitze 16 und damit (s.a. strichpunktierte Linie) die Sauger 9 mit einer nicht dargestellten Unterdruckquelle verbunden. Winkelversetzt ist ein weiterer Steuerschlitz 26 vorgesehen. Auf der Welle 25 ist ausserdem noch eine Steuerkurve 20 befestigt (siehe Fig. 2), die über eine an der Seitenmarke 5 befestigte Rolle 21 die Seitenmarke 5 quer zur Bogenlaufrichtung bewegt und den angesaugten Bogen 1 gegen einen Ausrichtanschlag 22 fördert. Die Bewegung der Sauger 9 beträgt nur 1 bis 2 mm. Da die Steuerkurven für die Saugerbewegung, den Saugbeginn und das Saugende sowie für die Bewegung der Seitenmarke 5 insgesamt auf der einen Welle 12 befestigt sind, kann die gewünschte Folgeschaltung ab Eintreffen der Bogen an den Vordermarken leicht eingestellt werden, nämlich;

  • a) der Steuerschlitz verbindet die Kanäle 17, 18, es entsteht ein Unterdruck an den Saugflächen 10, der Bogen wird abgebremst,
  • b) der Bogen richtet sich an den Vordermarken 4 aus,
  • c) die Seitenmarke 5 setzt sich in Bewegung, erfasst den Bogen und richtet ihn seitlich an dem Anschlag 22 aus.
  • d) der Saugschlitz 16 verbindet die Kanäle 17 und 18, es entsteht an den Saugflächen 10 ein Unterdruck,
  • e) die Steuerkurve 13 betätigt den Rollenhebel 14 und setzt den Sauger 9 in Bewegung; der zuvor durch die Seitenausrichtung verschobene Bogen wird somit wieder an die Vordermarken gedrückt.

A control disk 15 with corresponding control slots 16 is provided coaxially with the control cam 13 on a shaft 25. When the control disk 15 is rotated, the channels 17, 18 of a control housing 19 are connected via the control slots 16 and thus (see also dash-dotted line) the suction cups 9 to a vacuum source, not shown. A further control slot 26 is provided at an angle. A control cam 20 is also attached to the shaft 25 (see FIG. 2), which moves the side mark 5 transversely to the sheet running direction via a roller 21 attached to the side mark 5 and conveys the suctioned sheet 1 against an alignment stop 22. The movement of the suction cups 9 is only 1 to 2 mm. Since the control cams for the suction movement, the start of suction and the end of suction as well as for the movement of the side mark 5 as a whole are fastened on the one shaft 12, the desired sequential switching can be easily set from the arrival of the sheets on the front marks, namely;
  • a) the control slot connects the channels 17, 18, there is a negative pressure on the suction surfaces 10, the arc is braked,
  • b) the sheet is aligned with the front marks 4,
  • c) the side mark 5 starts to move, detects the sheet and aligns it laterally with the stop 22.
  • d) the suction slot 16 connects the channels 17 and 18, a negative pressure is created on the suction surfaces 10,
  • e) the control cam 13 actuates the roller lever 14 and sets the suction device 9 in motion; the sheet previously shifted by the page orientation is thus pressed against the front marks again.

Claims (5)

1. Apparatus for registering and feeding sheets in printing presses, in which the sheets (1) are fed individually from a supply pile by suitable feed means to front (4) and side (5), stops arranged in the feed table (2) of the printing press and in which the sheets are influenced in the sheet running direction by to and fro movable suckers (9) arranged below and transversely to the sheet running direction by transversely movable side stops, characterised in that a control cam (13) is provided for oscillating the sucker (9), a control cam (20) for to and fro movement o; the side stops (5) and a control disc (15) for the suction air feed to the suckers (9) and, in each case, are so set on a shaft (25) and adjusted in an angular position relative to one another that, after side pulling of the sheets has taken place, they are sucked by the suckers and moved anew against the front stops (4).
2. Apparatus acording to Claim 1, characterised in that the control disc (15) has two control slots (16, 26).
3. Apparatus according to Claim 1, characterised in that at least two suckers (9) are arranged tangentially to the sheet running direction in the direction of the front stops (4) and at right angles to the side stops (5) below the feed table (2).
4. Apparatus according to one of Claims 1 to 3, characterised in that the stroke of the sucker (9) at the surface of the feed table (2) amounts to ca. 1 to 2 mm.
5. Apparatus according to at least one of the preceding claims 1 to 4, characterised in that the sucker (9) can be switched on for a short time at the point of time of the sheet run-in against the front stops (4) by means of two control slots (26) on the control disc.
