Definitions
- the present invention relates to a ski boot.
- ski boots for downhill skiing are designed much differently than touring ski boots.
- the present invention takes this fact into account by creating, according to the invention, a ski boot which can be converted from a touring ski boot into a downhill ski boot and vice versa.
- Fig. 1 shows a side view of a plastic shoe shell 1 inform of an upper part of a known downhill ski boot.
- This shoe shell 1 is equipped with a toe cap 2 and with a shoe blade 3, a flexible transition part 4 being provided between the toe cap 2 and the shoe blade 3, which allows a normal rolling movement of the foot when walking with or without skis.
- the rear end of the shoe shell 1 is formed by a shaft 5.
- the front parts are provided with a lower buckle 7 and two upper buckles 8, which allow the shoe shell 1 to be closed with respect to the foot.
- a clamping lever 9 with a hook 11 is shown on the rear cap of the shell 1.
- On the sole part - the shoe shell there is a rearmost guide cam 12 with a transversely extending semi-cylindrical recess 13 and, in front of the cam 12, a further guide cam 15 extending into the area of the flexible transition part 4.
- an inner shoe 20 is provided for insertion into the shoe shell 1, which contributes to walking comfort due to its soft construction, has a heat-insulating effect through appropriate choice of material and can in principle also be used as a hut shoe without a shoe shell 1.
- FIG. 3 shows a touring ski boot sole 22, the upper part of which consists of a hard sole, for example a metal, in particular titanium sole 23, which is connected to a rubber sole 24 with profiles 25.
- This sole 22 is designed such that a normal crampon 27 can be attached to it effortlessly.
- the sole 22 is equipped with a hard front cap 29 and with a horizontal pull cable 30, which ends in a loop 31 in the area of the rear cap 35 and is firmly connected to the sole 22 at the attachment point 32 in the area of the rear end of the front cap 29.
- a metal bracket 34 which is pivotally connected to the sole 22, as can be seen in FIG. 15.
- FIG. 4 shows a fit inner shoe 38 analogous to the inner shoe 20 for pure downhill skiing, which, made of stiffer material, takes over the power transmission and in particular has a high shaft 39 with a buckle 40 as a characteristic.
- FIG. 5 shows a rigid downhill synthetic sole 43 with a relatively long front cap 45 and sole cams 46 and recesses 47. In the area of the rear cap of the sole there is in turn a bracket 49 corresponding to the bracket 34.
- FIGS. 6 to 30 are details of the combination of a touring ski boot and its use.
- 6 shows the plastic shell 1 with the inner liner 20 pushed in and the clamping lever 9 folded down.
- This combination according to FIG. 6 is shown in FIG. 7 during the assembly process with the sole 22 according to FIG. 3.
- the upper part of the shoe is in the hard front cap 29 of the sole 22.
- the loop 31 is not yet connected to the upper part, while during the further assembly process according to FIG. 8 this loop 31 is hooked into the upper hook 11 of the shoe shell 1, whereas the metal strap 34 protrudes freely to the rear.
- the metal bracket 34 is also suspended in the lower tensioning hook 11, as indicated by the corresponding arrow, and in FIG. 10 the tensioning lever 9 is brought into the tensioned position by pivoting in the direction of the arrow. In this position, the touring ski boot is put together, for marching without skis or for skiing on touring skis.
- the touring ski boot compiled in the sense of FIG. 10, ready for touring descent, is shown in FIG. 13 in a state mounted on a ski 57, the boot being held by means of a normal safety ski binding 58 with an integrated ski stopper.
- the descent position according to FIG. 13
- the rear part of the sole 22 is detached from the shoe shell 1 by folding down the tensioning lever 9 and unhooking the metal bracket 34, and the shoe shell can, with the sole 22, through the Horizontal pull cable 30 connected, perform a normal walking movement, as shown in Fig. 14.
- the guide cams 15 When walking in the snow, as shown in FIG. 14, the guide cams 15 are lifted off the sole 22 (FIG. 15) and when stepping down in the sense of FIG. 16, the guide cams 15 and 12 press any snow that has penetrated into recesses 60 of the sole 22 downwards, so that the rigid connection between shell 1 and sole 22 can be easily established at all times in the sense of FIG. 13.
- the metal bracket 34 can be pivoted in the direction of travel and inserted into the semi-cylindrical recess 13 of the rearmost guide cam 12.
- a bellows gaiter 65 with air valves 66 can be attached to the finished shoe, with "breathing" as with a bellows, as shown in FIG. 19 and 20 schematically illustrate.
- This gaiter 65 also prevents snow from entering, and does not hinder the movement of the shoe when walking / climbing.
- the gaiter 65 is stretchable, like the bellows of an accordion, and the air valves 66 allow it to function like a bellows.
- the gaiter bellows When the heel of the shoe shell 1 is raised, the gaiter bellows will create a negative pressure in the space between the sole and the shell and thereby suck in air from the outside, as indicated by arrows in FIG. 19. The air penetrates through the two side air valves 66. When the shoe shell 1 is lowered onto the sole 22, the air valves 66 are closed and the air escapes through the recesses 60 in the sole 22. The gaiter 65 is inflated so that it cannot become jammed between the shell 1 and the sole 22.
- FIG. 21 25
- the front part of a plastic shoe shell analogous to FIG. 1 is shown purely schematically in different versions, and variants of the front part of the touring ski boot sole corresponding to FIG. 3 are adapted to this.
- the variant according to FIG. 21 is equipped with a roller joint 70, in which the socket is the front cap analogous to the hard front cap 29, while the other joint part the front cap of the shoe shell is formed analogously to the shoe shell 1.
- an articulated bolt 72 is formed as part of the hard front cap of the touring sole, while an articulated hook 73, which comprises the articulated bolt 72, is arranged in the front cap of the shoe shell.
- hinge pin 74 on the shoe shell and a hinge hook 75 on the sole there is a hinge pin 74 on the shoe shell and a hinge hook 75 on the sole.
- the front cap of the shoe shell is provided with a primary mandrel 78 which has to be inserted into a catch 79 of the sole in order then to be secured in this position according to FIG. 25.
- a transverse rib 80 is provided in the sole, which enables the connection to be stored more securely.
- the kit described allows a touring or a pure downhill ski boot to be put together as required, whereby the boot designed as a touring ski boot does not depend on a touring ski binding and still allows effortless switching from walking / climbing to downhill using a standard safety ski binding.
- This principle of the modular system for a ski boot makes it possible to assemble either a touring or a downhill ski boot from just a few elements.
- a commercially available safety ski binding i.e. the requirement of touring ski bindings
- preserving the possibility of using a safety downhill ski binding does not apply.
- the ski tourist can move the touring ski boot from the walking position to the downhill position and vice versa with a single movement.
- the front part of the plastic shoe shell is flexible, as is known for cross-country ski boots.
- the shell For walking / climbing with skis, the shell is only fixed to the sole with the help of the tensioning lever and the cable for horizontal pull.
- the bracket for vertical pull on the other hand, is not hooked into the clamping bracket and tipped back into the rearmost of three guide grooves.
- the longitudinally stiff sole of the shell which only bends in the transverse direction when the heel is lifted, like in a cross-country ski boot, is positively pressed into the correspondingly designed rigid cap section of the sole by the horizontally acting cable pull (Fig. 14).
- the shell can now tip forward opposite the sole.
- the elastically deformable forefoot of the shoe shell bends.
- the restoring force of the deformed forefoot section acts on the ski as a return spring via the sole.
- the guide cams of the shell engage in the recess in the sole and also ensure the required stability between the shell and sole in this functional position.
- the metal bracket for vertical pull serves as a climbing aid. Instead of swiveling the bracket backwards when walking / climbing, it is tilted forward to snap it into the corresponding recess in the rearmost guide cam. It now prevents the heel of the shell from coming into contact with the sole, i.e. it acts as a climbing aid (Fig. 17).
- the joint variants in the sense of FIGS. 21 to 30 show real uniaxial joints between the inelastic shell and the rigid sole. However this joint is designed (hinge joint, for example), it must be easily detachable and yet stable. To meet this requirement and to avoid stress peaks in the joint with the risk of wear and fatigue (fatigue fracture), the variants shown come into consideration.
