Definitions

  • the invention relates to a color picture tube which has a screen trough and parts in this screen trough which are connected to the trough by pins in the edge of the trough, cf. the first part of claim 1.
  • Each of the pins mentioned engages in a lock in a holding member which is attached to a shadow mask.
  • the shape of the pins and the shape of the holes have been optimized over many years. According to the prior art, the pins are conical and the holes are of triple symmetry.
  • a magnetic shield in a color picture tube is either attached to a frame that supports the mask or to the pins via brackets.
  • a color picture tube is known from US-A-4,387,321, in which both the shadow mask and the magnetic shield are held by pins which are inserted into the edge and the corners of the shield trough.
  • the pens have a shaft and a head.
  • the head is divided into three conical sections.
  • the section attached to the shaft is open to the outside; the other two sections taper outwards, in accordance with the conventional design of the surfaces on such pins, onto which holding members and holding brackets are placed, the position of which is determined by the pin engaging in a hole in each of these parts.
  • the opening in the hole in the holding member for the shadow mask is so large that the first section at the free end of the head passes completely through and the holding member first sits on the second section.
  • the hole in the bracket for the shield is only so large that it already touches the first conical section.
  • a holding spring is pushed onto each pin in the known tube. This presses with one leg on the conical section of the head attached to the shaft, while it presses with the other leg on the associated mounting bracket.
  • the holding member placed in the middle section is not subjected to any force by the securing spring, but it is also secured against slipping off the pin by the holding bracket placed on the first section.
  • each pin has a spherical head, the diameter of which is larger than the opening of the hole in a holding member.
  • the securing springs now press directly on the holding members, it is advantageous to design the springs in the area of contact with the holding members so that the springs do not hinder any movement of the holding members.
  • the ends of the springs advantageously have an arc or hemispherical bulges. It also contributes to the easy movability of the holding members despite press-on safety springs if a spherical head according to claim 1 is used on the holding pins.
  • Fig. 1 only the screen trough 1 with the mask 2 inserted is shown from a conventional color picture tube.
  • the x-axis, the y-axis and the diagonals D1 and D2 are shown in this representation.
  • the fritting surface on the edge 4 of the screen trough 1 is labeled 3.
  • the screen trough 1 carries the luminescent layer, not shown, on its inside.
  • pins 5 are arranged which support the mask 2 via holding members 6. The holding members 6 engage on the edge 7 of the mask 2.
  • the axis of symmetry of the color picture tube is perpendicular to the plane of the drawing at the intersection of the x-axis with the y-axis.
  • the mask 2 does not have to be held in the corners of the shield trough 1, but can also be provided at the intersections of the x and y axes with the edge 7 of the mask 2 and the edge 4 of the shield trough 1 (i.e. in the middle of the pages).
  • FIG. 2 The side view of a holding part for the mask 2, in the direction of the arrow P in FIG. 1, is shown in FIG. 2.
  • the pin 5 is melted at one end.
  • the pin 5 is inserted into the edge 4 so that it is perpendicular to the tube axis.
  • the free end of the pin 5 carries the two-part holding member 6, which is connected to the edge 7 of the mask 2 on the outside via a corner reinforcement 8.
  • the holding member 6 is aligned so that it is perpendicular to the electron beam E directed into this corner.
  • the pin 5 also carries a bracket 9, at the free end of which the magnetic shield 10 of the color picture tube is attached.
  • an approximately V-shaped locking spring 11 is attached, the free end of which presses the holding member 6 resiliently onto the pin 5.
  • the pin 5 melted at one end into the edge of the screen trough, merges after emerging from the edge into a conical part 13 which carries the spherical end 12 of the pin 5.
  • the diameter of the spherical end 12 is larger than the smaller diameter of the conical part 13, so that a constriction 14 is formed between the conical part 13 and the spherical end 12.
  • On the spherical end 12 is the holding member 6, which will be described later.
  • the bracket 9 is placed on the conical part 13 of the pin 5.
  • the securing spring 11 is fastened, which runs in an arc to a point of the holding angle 9 which lies above the conical part 13.
  • the securing spring is supported on the part of the spherical end 12 pointing towards the constriction 14 and thus presses the bracket 9 onto the conical part 13.
  • the holding member 6 is secured on the spherical end 12 of the pin 5 against slipping.
  • the free end 16 of the securing spring 11 ends in an arc 17 facing the holding member.
  • bulges 18 are present, so that only small contact surfaces are created.
  • the forces exerted by the securing spring 11 via the bulges 18 on the holding member 6 run in the direction of the arrow K towards the center of the spherical end 12 of the pin 5.
  • the section shown in Fig. 4 along the line AB in Fig. 3 shows the parts of the bracket 9 and the locking spring 11 sitting on the pin 5.
  • the bracket 9 and the locking spring 11 are both provided with a central incision, so that they each end in two prongs 19 and 20 respectively.
  • the tines 19 and 20 are connected to one another, for example, by welding spots 21.
  • the width of the incision in the securing spring 11 is chosen so that it is larger than the diameter of the constriction 14 but smaller than the diameter of the spherical end 12 of the pin 5.
  • the width of the incision in the bracket 9 is selected such that it is larger than the diameter of the constriction 14 but smaller than the larger diameter of the conical part 13.
  • the bracket with the locking spring can be placed on the conical part 13 of the pin 5 from above.
  • the arc 17 of the locking spring 11 is also provided with a central cut, so that the locking spring 11 ends here in two prongs. As a result, the securing spring 11 presses symmetrically on the holding member 6.
  • the incision in the bracket 9 can be seen.
  • the incision is larger at the edge of the bracket than further inside and ends in a circular cutout. This ensures that the bracket 9, the conical part 13 of the pin 5 on a possible covers a large part of the scope. As a result, the bracket 9 is secured in its final position against pulling upwards.
  • FIG. 6 shows a side view of a second embodiment of the holding part.
  • the conical part 13 runs in the opposite direction than the pin described so far.
  • the thinner end of the conical part 13 now faces the melted-down end of the pin 5.
  • the locking spring 11 is now V-shaped and is fixed at one end to the horizontally extending part of the holding bracket 9.
  • the other end of the locking spring runs out again in two prongs, in each of which a bulge 18 is present. These bulges 18 press resiliently against the holding member 6. Again, the pressing force is directed to the center of the spherical end 12 of the pin.
  • the holding member consists of two parts, which are designated 6a and 6b.
  • the part 6a of the holding member comprises the spherical end of the pin 5 and the part 6d of the holding member carries the corner reinforcement of the mask 2.
  • the part 6a is thicker and rigid, while the part 6b has resilient properties.
  • the parts 6a and 6b are connected to one another by spot welding.
  • FIG. 7 shows the section along the line A-A in FIG. 6. From this it can be seen that the holding member 6 has a trapezoidal shape; one end faces the pin 5 and the base side to the corner reinforcement 8.
  • the upper piece of the holding member is formed by part 6a and the lower piece is formed by part 6b.
  • the triangular hole 23 is present near the upper edge of part 6a. Due to the triangular shape of the hole 23, this lies only at three points on the spherical end 12 of the pin 5.
  • the corner reinforcement 8, which carries the mask 2 is fastened to the lower, resilient part 6b.
  • a recess 24 is provided in part 6b and in the associated part of corner reinforcement 8 so that the electron beam is not shadowed when it is deflected into the corner in question.
  • the mask can be provided with an inside corner reinforcement and the holding part attached to it.
