Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a telescopically extendable curtain track, consisting of two mutually extending rail parts that can be locked in their mutual position, with a slot running laterally along the slot in the installed state of the curtain track and with slot edges designed as guide means for slidable slots running on the curtain track, which Fastening a curtain serving runners, in which curtain rail the two rail parts lie against each other in the section running into each other up to the area of the slot edges, and corresponding runners for the curtain rail with a rotor body with two guide grooves provided for interaction with the guide means of the rail, one guide groove each for a rail part is assigned, and fasteners serving to fasten the curtain.
  • Telescopically extendable curtain rails are mostly used in bathrooms.
  • the curtain is usually held by rings that run over the rail.
  • curtain rails have been proposed, on which the runners carrying the curtain run in a lateral slot in such a way that the rail itself serves as a screen which at least partially covers the runners.
  • curtain rails Another problem with such curtain rails is that the runners should slide smoothly, although they tend to tilt due to the load acting on one end.
  • a hanger for the curtain is therefore attached to the runners, which extends obliquely downwards in such a way that the curtain can be fastened at one location vertically below the rail.
  • WO 82/03165 discloses a curtain rail of the type mentioned above, in which runners provided with a hanger can be pushed back and forth in a rail with an angular cross section. It is expressly pointed out that the C-shape of the rail shown in FIG. 2 is not suitable, since otherwise the tilting of the rail parts can only be prevented with great effort.
  • the runners have a special hanger for fastening the curtain so that easy sliding is not disturbed by tilting.
  • the curtain rails proposed in US Pat. Nos. 2,683,890 and 2,683,891 have a very complicated cross-sectional shape and require separate runners for each rail part, which are also provided with a hanger.
  • the curtain necessarily consists of two parts, which have to be pushed back against the ends of the curtain rail when opened.
  • GB-A 720902 discloses a curtain track in which the runners are provided on the visible side of the track and are also non-detachably connected to the curtain. Since the runners have no grooves in which the slot edges engage, the simple C-shape of the rail can be used; the problem that the runners strike at the transition point is not addressed; it is intended to use two curtain parts to be opened apart from the center.
  • the aim of the present invention is to provide a curtain rail which has a simple C-shape in cross-section, serves as an aperture for the entire means of hanging the curtain, and in which the runners also run extremely smoothly even when the curtain is pulled violently are to be moved.
  • the curtain rail is characterized in that the rail parts have an essentially C-shaped cross section, that the guide means of the inner rail part are formed from forked slit edges, the latter being supported on a shoulder created by angling the edge regions of the outer rail part.
  • the corresponding runners are characterized in that the guide groove provided for cooperation with the inner rail part is formed deeper than the other and that the fastening means extend axially away from the rotor body.
  • the rail itself acts as a runner and covers the top edge of the curtain.
  • the slot edges of the two rail parts are provided in parallel, but at a lateral distance from one another, to form the guide means.
  • the runners have two guide grooves, each of which only interacts with the guide means of a rail part, and a number of outwardly extending, resiliently bendable locking tongues which have a thickening at their end.
  • the runners are guided by the outer curtain rail part only in the first groove adjacent to the locking tongues.
  • guide means of the inner rail part additionally engage in the second groove. If the runner is pushed away from the transition point into the inner rail part, it is only held in its second groove by its guide means.
  • the rail parts with a C-shaped cross-section fit snugly against one another in the transition area.
  • the fork-shaped slot edge of the inner rail part not only reliably guides the runner, but also stiffens the rail part in such a way that it does not deform even when the curtain is pulled violently.
  • the stiffening achieved in this way is sufficient to keep the deformation which enables the tilting to the necessary minimum.
  • the stress introduced into the rail is already absorbed by the appropriately designed slot edges; the simple and aesthetically pleasing C-profile can be used.
  • double angling of the slot edge of the outer rail part gives the latter additional stiffening. Due to the inventive design of the rail, it is no longer necessary to provide the runners with a hanger; the tilting moment in the rotor generated by pulling the curtain is absorbed by the rail.
  • Fig. 1 shows a schematic view of the curtain rail 1 consisting of the outer rail part 2 and the inner rail part 3.
  • the length lock has been omitted to relieve the drawing.
  • three runners 10 used to fasten a curtain 13 are shown.
  • Fig. 2 shows a section along the line I-I through the transition point inner / outer rail part, the curtain rail shown in Fig. 1.
  • the edge regions 5 of the outer rail part 2 delimiting the slot 4 engage in the first groove 8 of the runner 10.
  • the slot edges 6, 7 delimiting the slot of the inner rail part include the end part of the runner 10 delimited by the second guide groove 9.
  • the inner rail part 3 in the outer rail part 2 especially when the curtain rail is fully extended, will tend to tilt. It must then be ensured that the edges of the slots do not distort. This is achieved by the two edge regions of the inner rail part which have the slot edges 6, 7 and are fork-shaped in cross section.
  • Such a construction also has the advantage that the end part of the rotor 10 delimited by the second guide groove 9 is closely encompassed.
  • the runners hardly tilt, even though the holder at their end has a much greater tilting moment due to the approximately twice the distance to the curtain 13 compared to the holder on the outer rail part.
  • the runners will never tilt so far that it is possible to hit the slot edges in the transition point between the inner and outer rail section.
  • the runners 10 are designed to be as short as possible to avoid overturning moments.
  • the slot edges 6 of the inner rail part rest on the shoulder 12 created by bending the edge regions of the outer rail part. Accordingly, the second guide groove 9 of the rotor 10 must be formed deeper if the slot edges 6 are to have a sufficient height. Furthermore, the rotor part having the guide grooves 8, 9 runs conically or, if it is not rotationally symmetrical, wedge-shaped in longitudinal section. This enables a large-area support on the outside of the slot edges 5.
  • the curtain 13 is fastened to the runners 10 by pressing reinforcing rings 12 which are incorporated in it over the resilient tongues 11 of the runners.
  • a plate-like depression 15 is provided, which che serves to give the curtain 13 a curvature, that is to fold the curtain at the positions of the runners.
  • the tongues 11 together with the depression 15 in the flange 14 form a folding aid for the curtain 13 used.
