Abstract

Tight packaging of a load including a stack of goods mounted on a pallet is achieved by lifting the loaded pallet above a conveyor or other supporting surface, pulling a hood of heat-shrinkable plastic foil from above over the load with the rim of the hood projecting below the underside of the pallet, heating that rim to substantially shrinkage temperature for causing it to contract around the pallet periphery, and lowering the load onto the supporting surface to press the hot, contracted hood rim against the bottom of the pallet. The contraction is aided by a blower below the pallet aspirating air toward the center thereof. The remainder of the hood is then thermally shrunk around the load.

Description

Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zum Verpacken von palettierten Gutstapeln mit einer Heißschrumpffolie, bei dem der Gutstapel an seiner Unterseite zunächst freigestellt, insbesondere angehoben und mit der Heißschrumpffolie derart umhüllt wird, daß deren unterer Rand über den Gutstapel vorsteht, wobei dieser untere Rand in freigestelltem Zustand des Gutstapels zunächst stärker als die übrige Heißschrumpffolie bis auf Schrumpftemperatur erwärmt und dabei durch Strömungskräfte eines von einem Gebläse erzeugten Heißgasstromes unter die Unterseite des Gutstapels gelegt wird sowie anschließend der Rest der Heißschrumpffolie geschrumpft wird. Ein Verfahren der eingangs beschriebenen Gattung ist aus der US-PS 38 07 126 bekannt. Dazu wird der auf einer Palette angeordnete Gutstapel mit Hilfe eines Förderers in einen Schrumpfofen gebracht, in dem die Heißschrumpffolie mit Heißluft geschrumpft wird. Die Heißluft wird mit einem an der Decke des Schrumpfofens angeordneten Gebläse so durch den Schrumpfofen gefördert, daß die heißluft zunächst die Seiten des Gutstapels beaufschlagt und dann durch Öffnungen unter der Palette wieder abströmen kann. Dabei ergeben sich im Bereich der unteren Kanten des Gutstapels höhere Strömungsgeschwindigkeiten, so daß der untere Rand der Heißschrumpffolie zunächst stärker erwärmt wird und unter dem Einfluß der Strömungskräfte unter die Unterseite des Gutstapels gelegt wird. Im Zuge der weiteren Wärmebehandlung wird auch dann der Rest der Heißschrumpffolie auf Schrumpftemperatur erwärmt und schrumpft. Weil sich jedoch der untere, bereits umgeschlagene Rand nicht abkühlt, besteht die Gefahr, daß beim Schrumpfprozeß der übrigen Heißschrumpffolie der untere Rand sich wieder von der Unterseite des Gutstapels löst. Nachteilig ist auch der verhältnismäßig große Raumbedarf der zur Durchführung dieses Verfahrens erforderlichen Anlage, weil Haubenüberziehstation und Schrumpfstation voneinander getrennt sind.A method of the type described above is known from US-PS 38 07 126. Beim anschließenden Umschlagen gegen den unteren Rand des Gutstapels verkleben die aufeinanderliegenden Flächen des Randes, wodurch die Schrumpffolie in diesem Bereich einen sehr guten Halt für das nachfolgende Schrumpfen der Heißschrumpffolie an den Seitenflächen des Gutstapels erhält. Der untere Rand der Schrumpffolie kann dann kaum noch durch den weiteren Schrumpfprozeß hochgezogen werden. Claims (4)

1. A method of packing palettised stacks of goods (12) with a heat-shrink foil, wherein the stack of goods (12) is at first left open at the bottom, in particular is lifted and wrapped with the heat-shrink foil in such a way that the lower edge of the foil projects below the stack of goods (12), and, in the unwrapped condition of the stack of goods (12), is at first heated more strongly than the rest of the heat-shrink foil up to shrinking temperature and simultaneously laid beneath the stack of goods (12) under the force of a hot gas stream from a blower (20), and the rest of the heat-shrink foil is then shrunk, characterised in that at first only the lower edge of the heat-shrink foil is heated to shrinking temperature by a hot gas stream from a ring burner (3) surrounding the stack of goods (12) and sucked towards the underside of the stack of goods (12) by the vacuum current of a suction fan (20) disposed beneath the stack of goods (12), and in that the remaining heat-shrink foil is schrunk by the hot gas of the ring burner (3) during relative movement between the ring burner (3) and the stack of goods (12).
2. A method according to claim 1, characterised in that the stack of goods (12), which is at first lifted, is lowered onto a support (13) with the edge of the heat-shrink foil still at shrinking temperature.
3. Apparatus for carrying out the method according to claim 1 or 2 with a foil-covering station, a lifting platform arranged below the foil-covering station, and a hot gas shrinking device for heating the foil to shrinking temperature, characterised in that the hot gas shrinking device (1) has a ring burner (3) surrounding the stack of goods (12) and being vertically movable along the stack of goods (12), and in that a suction fan (20) is arranged in the region of the lifting platform (16).
4. Apparatus according to claim 3, characterised in that the lifting platform (16) has lifting posts (17, 18) movable into openings on the underside of a goods palette (14) up to the underside of the top of the goods palette (14).
