Zum Verpacken dieser Gutstapel legt man auf die Oberseite einer leeren Palette eine Folie oder einen Kartonzuschnitt und darauf den Gutstapel. Der Gutstapel und die Palette werden dann mit ein oder zwei Schrumpfhauben überzogen, wobei die Schrumpfhaube mit der auf die Palette aufgelegten Folie so gut wie luftdicht verschweißt wird. Üblicherweise wird die über den Gutstapel gezogene Schrumpfhaube mit einem Schrumpfrahmen geschrumpft, und zwar von unten nach oben, so daß der untere Rand der Schrumpfhaube unterhalb der Palette einen Unterschrumpf bildet und dabei auch die auf die Palette gelegte Folie mit der Schrumpfhaube verschweißt. Die dann in der Schrumpfhaube verbleibende Luft kann nun nicht mehr entweichen und wird beim nachfolgenden Schrumpfen der Schrumpfhaube mit erwärmt. Die Luft dehnt sich aus, und es kommt zu einer sogenannten Ballonbildung, die unter Umständen die Schrumpfhaube so stark aufdehnt, daß sie auch nach dem Erkalten der Luft nicht mehr vollständig zurückschrumpft. Es ist sogar möglich, die Schrumpfhaube während des größten Teils des Schrumpfvorganges unter Überdruck zu halten, um jede Faltenbildung zu unterbinden und eine gleichmäßige Anlage der geschrumpften Schrumpfhaube am Gutstapel zu erzielen. Vorzugsweise sind Folienabweiser auf gegenüberliegenden Seiten des Förderers angeordnet, insbesondere so, daß die Folienabweiser sich im Bereich der Stirnseiten der Palette befinden, weil an genormten Paletten die Längen gleich und nur die Breiten unterschiedlich sind. Der oder die Folienabweiser werden ausgefahren, so daß sie bis in den Bereich des Gutstapels ragen. Dann wird die Schrumpfhaube über den Gutstapel gezogen, wobei die den unteren Rand der Schrumpfhaube haltenden Greifer sich außerhalb der Folienabweiser bewegen. Claims (12)

1. A method for packaging a stack of products, in particular bottles, jars or the like, disposed on a pallet, according to which a shrinking hood (5) drawn over the stack (3) is progressively shrunk in the vertical direction and is welded to a foil (4) disposed between the stack and the pallet (2) and projecting over the edge of the pallet (2), characterised in that the lower free edge (7) of the shrinking hood (5) drawn over the stack (3) is at least in part held away from the pallet and the foil (4) disposed thereon, that the shrinking hood (5) is shrunk from the top towards the bottom, and that the free edge (7) of the shrinking hood (5) is released and low pressure is created under the shrinking hood (5) shortly before shrinkage reaches the pallet (2).
2. A method according to claim 1, characterised in that, to form an undershrinkage beneath the pallet (2), the free edge (7) of the shrinking hood (5) is released by lifting the pallet before shrinkage reaches the lower edge of the pallet.
3. A method according to claim 1 or 2, characterised in that the shrinking hood (5) is kept under low pressure for the greater part of the shrinking process.

A device for carrying out the method according to one of claims 1 to 3, with a depositing station or a conveyor (1) for a stack (3) disposed on a pallet (2), a device for covering the stack with a shrinking hood (5), which is gripped by its lower edge (7) by grippers (6), a shrinking device which is movable up and down, and a fan (11) disposed under the depositing space or conveyor, characterised in that at least one movable foil separator (8) is disposed on the depositing space or conveyor (1) outside the space occupied by the pallet (2), but within the operating range of the grippers (6), the said foil separator (8) projecting, in its extended position, as far as the stack of products.
5. A device according to claim 4, characterised by foil separators (8) on opposite sides of the depositing space or conveyor (1).
6. A device according to claim 4 or 5, characterised in that the foil separators (8) are pivotably mounted about a horizontal axis and have a pivot drive (9).
7. A device according to one of claims 4 to 6, characterised in that the foil separators (8) are fork-shaped and have fork arms.
8. A device according to one of claims 4 to 7, characterised in that the foil separators (8) are formed as air-conducting channels.
9. A device according to one of claims 4 to 8, characterised in that the surfaces of the foil separators (8) are coated with PIFE.
10. A device according to one of claims 4 to 9, characterised in that the foil separators (8) have a holding device for the lower edge (7) of the shrink foil (5).
11. A device according to one of claims 4 to 10, characterised by a lifting device (12) for lifting the pallet (2).
12. A device according to one of claims 4 to 11, characterised in that the foil separators (8) are movable in the same direction as the pallet (2) moved by the lifting device (12).
