Definitions
- the invention relates to a moisture-proof socket for fluorescent lamps provided in particular with two-pin bases, with a coupling ring which can be screwed to the socket body and which engages over the end of the lamp and, if appropriate, the end of a protective tube surrounding it, and which has an annular groove in its ring end region facing the socket body arranged annular seal intended for contact with the socket body and in the region of its other end section has an annular radial seal made of a rubber-elastic material that comes into contact with the jacket of the lamp or the protective tube.
- Such a moisture-proof version has become known through prior use.
- This known version corresponds approximately to that described in DE-C-9 48 539, but with the proviso that the axial seal is arranged in a circumferential groove in the ring end region of the coupling ring and, with its narrow end face protruding therefrom, presses against the socket body and also with the Precondition that the seal coming into contact with the lamp jacket consists of only one sealing ring, the outer edge of which is inserted with a slight clamping fit on the inner jacket of the coupling ring at the end region removed from the socket body.
- a moisture-proof socket of this type has the advantage that it effectively seals the contact area of the lamp and the socket body against moisture with seals of relatively simple design, which act on the socket body on the one hand and on the lamp jacket or on the jacket of a protective tube made of plastic or glass surrounding the lamp.
- the result of the invention characterized in this way is a moisture-protected holder with a coupling ring to which the sealing body, which integrally integrates the axial seal as well as the radial seal, is firmly and permanently attached.
- the union ring can be handled with the sealing body as a one-piece component, the sealing body being captively connected to the union ring.
- the assembly of the union ring provided with the sealing body, the shipping of the now one-piece part and finally its handling on the lamp are considerably simplified by the features according to the invention.
- any crushing, in particular of the radial seal of a known type which occasionally required the coupling ring to be loosened again and the sealing ring to be reinserted into the correct position, no longer occurs.
- the production of the frame, especially the collar ring, is very simple. In practice, this is done in such a way that the union ring is first injection molded from a relatively hard set plastic in the injection mold, whereupon the mold cores are exchanged for those that allow the sealing body to be molded on. Then the union ring forming part of the injection mold is injected with elastic material in the cavities formed by the second mold core.
- a further development of the invention provides that a plurality of substantially axially extending puncture channels are formed in the coupling ring in the circumferential direction, which emanate from the bottom of the ring groove and open on the inner circumferential surface of the coupling ring.
- the puncture channels can open on the inner surface of the collar ring into only radially inwardly open groove grooves that run into the free end area of the collar ring.
- Stitch channels and stitch grooves are arranged, preferably three each, distributed in the circumferential direction of the coupling ring.
- the throwing ring can. be provided in its end face region facing away from the fitting body with through-openings for the sealing material penetrating its wall, as a result of which the intimate connection of the sealing material with that of the union ring is particularly ensured in the end area of the coupling ring.
- the coupling ring advantageously consists of a polybutylene terephthalate (PBT), while silicone rubber is best suited for the material of the sealing body.
- PBT polybutylene terephthalate
- the radial seal can have an essentially radially extending ring web, the inside diameter of which is significantly smaller than the outside diameter of the lamp or of the protective tube, and an axially directed ring section arranged thereon on one side, the free end of which defines an opening which is at least slightly larger than the outside diameter the lamp or the protective tube.
- This geometry has the advantage that, by widening the radially extending ring web, the free end of the axially directed ring section conforms to the lamp or the protective tube jacket, so that an automatically adapting two-zone seal is achieved.
- the drawing shows a longitudinal section through a sealing ring, which is aligned with a sealing body, of a moisture-protected frame, with circumferential offset half-planes, which are approximately at an angle of 120 ° to each other.
- a moisture-proof socket initially has a socket body, not shown, fastened to a lamp holder, which has a plug-in slot for the contact pins of a fluorescent tube lamp, which is usually arranged in a rotating piece, and an external thread with which a collar ring 10 of the socket can be screw-fastened by means of an internal thread 11.
- the coupling ring 10 consists of a plastic injection molding, preferably of polybutylene terephthalate.
- the coupling ring 10 In its end face region 12 facing the socket body, the coupling ring 10 has a circumferential annular groove 13, which is open to the end face, for incorporating the axial seal 14.
- a radial seal 16 is arranged on its other end section 15 facing away from the end face region 12. This is provided with a radial ring web 17 and an axial ring section 18 pointing thereon to the socket body.
- the radial ring web 17 delimits an opening 19 in the inner diameter 20.
- the diameter 20 is somewhat smaller than the lamp diameter or the diameter of the protective tube.
- the axial section delimits an opening 21 of the nominal width 22, which is slightly larger than the outside diameter of the lamp or the protective tube. Accordingly, if the opening 19 is widened and the annular web 20 is moved outwards when the cap is thrown over the lamp or the protective tube, the axial portion 18 tapers because of the asymmetrical arrangement, with the result that the lip end portion 23 attaches itself to the jacket of the lamp or the protective tube creates a particularly effective two-zone seal.
- the coupling ring 10 has a section 25 with a thickened cross section in the axial region of the thread 11 and a section 26 with a thinner cross section in the region of the jacket 24 between the thread 11 and the end face 15.
- Three double ribs 28, 29 are arranged centrally offset from these, between each of which a stitch groove 30, hereinafter also called longitudinal groove 30, is formed.
- each longitudinal groove 30 which opens into the bottom 32 of the annular groove 13 and thereby connects the annular groove 13 to the longitudinal groove 30.
- the total of three branch channels 31 with their aligned overflow channels thus connect the axial sealing ring 14 with the radial sealing ring 16 to form a one-piece sealing body 35.
- the lower partial section through the branch channel 31 in the figure and the branch groove 30 designed as an overflow groove show one of the three connecting sections 36 of the sealing body 35.
- the outer free end 15 of the coupling ring 10 facing away from the socket body forms the end face 33 which, as the figure shows, is surrounded on all sides by the material of the sealing material.
- a number of transverse bores 34 are arranged around the circumference, through which the sealing material can flow.
- the union ring 10 which is equipped with the sealing body 35 consisting of an integrally connected axial seal 14 and radial seal 16, is produced by firstly, in an injection mold made of a hardening plastic, the union ring with the annular groove 13, the puncture channels 31 designed as overflow channels and the sealing channels open to the inside 30 and with the webs 27, 28 and 29 is cast in an injection mold. While the coupling ring 10 remains in the mold, the core required for the production of the coupling ring 10 is exchanged for one which has the casting cavities for the sealing body 35.
- the coupling ring 12 thus forms part of the casting mold for the second casting stage, in which the cavities of the mold or of the second mold core are sprayed with the material for the sealing body 15, primarily silicone rubber, so that the finished product is represented by the one shown in the figure distinguishes one-piece spatial form.
