Description

The invention relates to a method for producing wire link tapes from plastic wire for paper machines, in which wire helixes with alternating right and left rotating inclinations are pushed into each other and tubular tubes are formed from mutually closely clamped head bends into which plastic connecting wires are inserted.

From CH-A-610 273 it is known to produce wire link belts from plastic wire in such a way that one wire coil after the other is pressed into the respectively previously created wire coil by means of sliding pressure. If connecting wires, also called plug-in wires, are used as connecting means for the wire coils, such a connecting wire is manually pushed into the tubular channel, which forms the last pair of coils, from one side. If the turns of the wire coils are not aligned so evenly that they form a straight tubular channel of uniform cross section, the connecting wire can no longer be inserted. If a wire helix is in the wrong position, it can no longer be straightened out by the connecting wire, since the windings cling to each other and hold in a fixed position. For these reasons, one had to keep the inside diameter of the winding head bends larger or the diameter of the connecting wires smaller than would have been desirable in view of the intended use and the service life of the wire link strips to be produced.

From DE-A-2 158 372 (cf. in particular pp. 5 and 6, paragraphs 1 and 2, and also FIGS. 1 to 5), a method for producing wire link strips made of metal is known, in which wire coils are adjacent to each other with alternating right and left rotating incline and their interlocking head arches are held together by connecting wires. Here, two connecting wires are inserted together through the openings of the interlocking turns of the wire helices of the wire link belt. It is a process for producing bracelets, belts or the like, that is to say wire link belts with a width of the order of a few centimeters. For this reason, particular difficulties in inserting the connecting wires into the tubular channels are not to be expected from the outset, because even in view of the short length of the channels, the frictional resistance of the wire coils against the insertion of the connecting wires should be negligible.

The small width of the wire link belts which are produced according to DE-A-2 158372 and the fact that they are not conveyor belts for paper machines, that is to say belts of considerable width, enable a method of production which is different from that in the subject matter of the present invention Invention according to the prerequisite differs substantially. According to DE-A-2 158372, namely, the winding wires made of gold, silver, copper or stainless steel are wound on winding spirals, the pitch of which corresponds to that of the wire coils pushed into one another. This means that the known wire coils are wound in such a way that they can be loosely pushed into one another and thus, in contrast to the starting products of the method according to the invention, tight clamping of the head bends is excluded. In the method known from DE-A-2 158372, the head arches can thus be displaced with resistance to one another, so that a significant resistance to the insertion of the connecting wires cannot be expected.

The invention has for its object to develop the method described above, that is, a method for producing wire link strips of considerable width, as are common in paper machines, in such a way that the insertion of the connecting wires is facilitated and, accordingly, can also be carried out mechanically reliably.

The object is achieved in that
  • - The connecting wires are heat-set before insertion into the channels and
  • - A connecting wire is inserted in at least two adjacent channels in one operation.

With the combination of the two characteristic features according to the invention it is achieved that the connecting wires acting jointly on the head bends of adjacent coils are able to correct the position of these head bends where necessary, so that the connecting wires force their passage through the originally not sufficiently rectilinear tubular channels.

The method according to the invention is preferably carried out in such a way that the wire coils are stretched during the insertion of the connecting wires in such a way that they have a pitch which is greater than twice the wire diameter for a short time.

An embodiment of the invention is explained below with the aid of schematic drawings with further details. Show it:
  • Fig. 1 shows a wire link belt in plan view before the insertion of the connecting wires
  • Fig. 2 outlines an embodiment according to the invention for a feed device for connecting wires.

In Fig. 1 wird ein Drahtgliederband 10 dargestellt dessen Wendeln 1,2 nach bekannten Verfahren so ineinandergefügt worden sind, daß deren Kopfbögen röhrenförmige Kanäle 13, 14 bilden, in welche die Verbindungsdrähte 8 in Pfeilrichtung eingeführt werden zur Sicherung der Wendeln.1 shows a wire link belt 10 shown whose coils 1, 2 have been inserted into one another by known methods in such a way that their head bends form tubular channels 13, 14, into which the connecting wires 8 are inserted in the direction of the arrow to secure the coils.

In FIG. 2, the wire link belt 10 is placed on the storage base 17 and the insertion device 12 is positioned laterally on an edge side of the wire link belt. The clamp 15 detects the edge end of the wire link belt and holds it in a fixed position during the insertion process. The centering device 6 is centered on the openings 13, 14 of the wire link belt. The roller drive 9 drives the connecting wires via the centering device through the openings 13, 14 to the other edge side of the wire link belt 10. For the sake of clarity, the connecting wires are only drawn as single wire 8. Due to the drive and the centering device, several connecting wires run together. For a next insertion process, the connecting wires 8 are cut off and the connected wire link strip is removed after opening the clamps 5, 15 and a new wire link strip not yet provided with connecting wires is inserted. In order to stretch the wire link belt 10 in order to briefly remove the tight jamming of the turns, the insertion device can be displaced a distance from the edge in the direction of the arrow.

In this way, both individual sections of sectional sieves can be connected to one another by connecting wires, and a partial section can be connected to the last coil of the sectional sieve already equipped with connecting wires in the same operation. This enables continuous production of sectional sieves.
