Definitions
- the present invention relates to a transmitter for a remote control device for a locking member of at least one lock and relates more particularly to the transmitters used for controlling the locking or unlocking of motor vehicle locks.
- the remote control devices currently used in the automobile include an infrared wave transmitter comprising a housing in which are mounted in particular a DC power source, a device for generating a coded message and a device for transmitting said message, the actuation of which is controlled by a push button.
- the pushbutton is constituted by a deformable portion of the housing body which is of E- form by pressing it to cause the closing of an electrical contact.
- This solution requires careful construction of the housing body and in particular thicknesses of materials in the deformable zone constituting the push button.
- the DC power source is constituted by one or more batteries generally in the form of a disc situated inside the case and connected to each other by different electrical connections. It is observed in use that when replacing these batteries, the user damages the contacts and the electrical connections by deforming or fouling them.
- the object of the invention is to propose a new transmitter box which overcomes the main drawbacks of the existing boxes which have just been listed.
- the invention provides a transmitter characterized in that the push button is constituted by a part of the transmitter housing forming a cover, said cover being articulated on said housing around a first axis located in the vicinity of a first end of the cover.
- This pivoting of the cover makes it possible to act on an electrical contact mounted in the body of the box in the vicinity of the second end of the cover in order to cause the emission of said coded message.
- said DC power source is mounted in the cover. It is thus understood that it is capable of pivoting with the cover when the housing is opened, in particular for its replacement.
- the current source consists of at least one electric battery, the connection terminals of which cooperate with corresponding electrical contacts secured to the body of the housing. Thanks to such a structure, it is easily understood that the user when replacing the batteries does not have to act on the contacts and the electrical connections but only to insert or remove the batteries from the cover to which they are fixed.
- the cover is articulated on the housing around a second articulation axis parallel to said first articulation axis and located in the vicinity of the second end of the cover, locking and unlocking means being provided to prevent any pivoting of the cover around said second articulation axis during normal use of the transmitter and to allow such pivoting when it is desired to replace said direct current source, for example constituted by batteries.
- the transmitter shown in the figures comprises a box 10 of generally rectangular parallelepiped shape which consists essentially of three elements, a body 12, a cover 14 and a cap 16.
- the body 12 and the cover 14 are made of a thermoplastic material, the cap 16 being made of transparent polycarbonate.
- the transmitter 10 essentially contains a DC power source 18, a device for generating a coded message 20 shown diagrammatically in the figures which essentially comprises electronic components and a device for transmitting the coded message essentially comprising a transmitter diode d infrared waves 22 disposed inside the housing 10 and which is capable of emitting through the cap polycarbonate 16 waves whose reception is provided by a receiving device mounted inside the motor vehicle which it is desired to cause the opening of at least one lock.
- the housing 10 also contains an electrical contact 24 constituted by a deformable and elastic metal blade 26 capable of being brought into contact with a stud 28, a device indicating the proper functioning of the emitting device constituted by a light-emitting diode 32 of which one can perceive the 'light emission through an orifice 34 formed vis-à-vis in the body of the housing 12.
- the transmitter shown in the figures constitutes a key ring with retractable key 36 mounted in a barrel 38 itself mounted in the body 12 of the transmitter 10; this keyring structure has been described in detail in the patent application No. 82/03 910 filed March 9, 1982 in the name of the applicant of the present application and the text of which we can refer to obtain all details regarding the detailed description of this particular structure.
- the electrical contact 24 described above must be able to be actuated by the user of the infrared wave transmitter 10 who wishes to cause the locking or unlocking of a lock by means of a push button, an action on this electrical contact having the consequence of supplying direct current to the device 20 for generating the coded message as well as its transmission device 22 as well as the supply of the control lamp 32.
- the push button for controlling the electrical contact 24 is constituted by the rectangular cover 14 proper which is mounted articulated on the housing 12 around a first articulation axis XX located in the vicinity of a first end 40, or lower end (with reference to the figures) of the cover 14.
- the geometric articulation axis XX is constituted materially by a hinge 42 comprising a movable knuckle 44 made integrally with the cover 14 and extending over a large part of the width of the latter , which is received between two portions 46 and 48 constituting the fixed knuckles of the hinge and formed integrally with the body 12 of the housing 10.
- the hinge 44 also comprises a hinge 50 constituted by a screw whose end part penetrating into the movable knuckle 44 and the fixed knuckle 48 is smooth and whose part cooperating with the fixed knuckle 46 is threaded in the vicinity of the head 52 so as to be able to be mounted screwed into the body 12 of said housing. It is thus understood that the hinge formed by the screw 50 can be extracted using a screwdriver by acting on the screw head 52 from outside the housing and this for a purpose which will be described later.
- the DC power source 18, which in the embodiment consists of three batteries in the form of cylinder sections 54, 56 and 58 mounted in series, is in accordance with the invention mounted in the cover 14.
- each of the batteries is mounted with clearance in a receptacle delimited on the one hand by the upper face 60 of the movable knuckle 44 and on the other hand by an upper arm 62 integrally formed with the cover 14 and which has a curved end 64 which extends over the periphery of the stack so as to keep the latter clipped into its corresponding housing.
- each battery is received in its housing with a clearance in the direction of the axis XX so as to ensure that the three batteries are in reciprocal contact and that thus the series mounting is realized for sure.
- the electrical connection of the power source 18 constituted by the three batteries is made by two electrical contacts 66 and 68 fixed to the body 12 of the housing 10 of which they are integral in all circumstances.
- the electrical contact 66 is constituted by a metal blade curved so as to have a certain elasticity which allows on the one hand to ensure good contact between the contact 66 itself and the connection terminal of the battery 54 opposite and on the other hand between each of the batteries 54, 56 and 58 and this in cooperation with the contact 68 which is of a similar structure.
- the electrical contact 66 is connected to the message coding device 20 while the contact 68 is the lower extension of the electrical contact 26 which, as has been described above, enables the operation of the transmitter.
- the cover 14 is articulated on the body 12 of the housing 10 around a second geometric axis of articulation YY parallel to the first axis of articulation XX and located in the vicinity of the second end 70 of the cover 14, that is to say at its upper end (considering the figures) opposite the lower end 40.
- This second articulation of the cover 14 is intended to allow, as will be described later, easy replacement batteries constituting the DC power source 18.
- the second axis of articulation YY consists of two pivots 72 and 74 formed integrally with the cover 14 and which are retained in two housings 76, 78 respectively formed in the body 12 of the housing 10.
- the pivots 72 and 74 are connected to the cover 14 proper by two swan-neck extensions 80 and 82.
- Each of the two housings 76 and 78 receives a helical spring 84 and 86 respectively which is mounted compressed in the corresponding housing.
- Each of the compression springs 84 and 86 bears on the one hand on the bottom of the housing 88, 90 and on the other hand on the corresponding pivot 72, 74.
- the pivots 72 and 74 are thus resiliently biased in abutment against the second bottom of each of said housings 92, 94 respectively.
- the springs 76 and 78 thus constitute the elastic return means urging the cover towards its rest position in which it bears on the abutment surface formed in the body 12 of the housing by the housing bottoms 92 and 94 with which the pivots cooperate. 72 and 74.
- the pivots can move perpendicular to their own axis in order to allow the pivoting of the cover around the first articulation axis XX when it is desired to operate the transmitter device, that is to say when the cover 14 is pressed to use it as a push button; this action on the cover having the effect of causing it to pivot about the axis XX, the pivots 72 and 74 acting against the elastic force exerted by the return springs 84 and 86 and moving in the housing 76 and 78 in the direction of funds 88 and 90 of said housing.
- the pivots When the user releases his pressure on the cover 14, the latter returns to its rest position illustrated in particular in FIGS. 3 and 4 in which the pivots are again supported on the second bottoms 92 and 94 of the housings 76 and 78.
- the hinge 42 comprising the removable hinge 50 constitutes the locking and unlocking means which are provided to prevent any pivoting of the cover 14 around the second axis of articulation YY during normal use of the transmitter. , but which allow such pivoting when it is desired to replace the batteries. Indeed, it suffices for the user to unscrew the hinge 50 and extract it from the housing in order to then be able to pivot the cover 14 around the axis YY as indicated by the arrow A in FIG. 2 until that this cover comes to occupy the position shown in phantom in this same figure which is the maximum opening position of the cover provided for the replacement of the batteries.
- the user In this open position, the user only has to extract the batteries from their corresponding housing and this by slightly and resiliently deforming the arms 64 both for removing the used batteries and for inserting new batteries.
- the user Once the batteries have been replaced, the user only has to close the cover 14 by acting in the direction indicated by the arrow B in FIG. 2; during this operation, the batteries are progressively engaged between the electrical and elastic contacts 66 and 68 which provide perfect electrical connection to the circuit without the user having at any time the opportunity to touch these contacts at the risk in particular of deforming them.
- the cover Once the cover once again occupies its normal rest position, the user can reintroduce the hinge 50 into the knuckles 44, 46 and 48 and then screw the head 52 of the screw again so as to immobilize the hinge 50 relative to the housing 10.
- the transmitter is again ready for normal use during which the cover 14 is only free to pivot around the first hinge axis XX for use as a push button.
