Definitions

  • the present invention relates generally to building covers, and more particularly relates to ventilation elements, of the type of those commonly called cat flaps, which it is usual to have within such a cover, in the plan of it, replacing one or more of the covering elements, tiles or slates for example, constituting it.
  • such aeration elements are used in particular to ensure the ventilation of the volume underlying a blanket, to mitigate the consequences of the inevitable condensation which may take place there because of the temperature differences. between outside and inside; in the absence of such ventilation, it would indeed be feared a rapid deterioration, by rotting, both of the elements of the corresponding frame, and of the insulation elements usually associated with such a frame, the prior impregnation of which in addition to the efficiency of the insulation, which they are responsible for.
  • the first consists in forming such a grid using inclined crosspieces in the manner of louvre blades.
  • the second consists in leaving free, at the downstream part of the opening, a passage of reduced width, and in having, in the interior volume underlying the cover, in continuity with said opening.
  • a chute the bottom of which, at least in its downstream part, is inclined in the direction of the extreme downstream edge of said opening, and is connected to it, so that any moisture, snow or rain, possibly coming to penetrate through said opening . is collected by said chute, and discharged outside by the latter.
  • the cross members of the grid are in practice all inclined in the same direction, forming gills oriented upstream, with the exception of the extreme downstream cross member, whose corresponding hearing is oriented downstream to allow the effective evacuation of any moisture collected by the associated chute.
  • the present invention generally relates to a provision which makes it possible to avoid these drawbacks and which also leads to other advantages.
  • the present invention relates to a ventilation element for roofing of the building, of the type comprising an opening at least partially closed by a grid of inclined crosspieces in louvre strips in the manner of what is described in the US-A-2 973 704, this ventilation element being characterized in that said crosspieces are alternately inclined in one direction and in the other, with end crosspieces converging towards each other from the inside towards the outside, so that said crosspieces define two by two of the passage section openings going in decreasing from the inside to the outside.
  • the ventilation element according to the invention comprising, in a manner known per se, on the one hand, on the surface, a sole, by which it is adapted to be inserted within the cover to be fitted, and in which is provided the opening at least partially closed by its grid, said grid extending in practice only over the upstream part, the largest, of said opening, leaving free a passage of reduced width to the downstream part thereof, and, on the other hand, under said sole, a chute which is in continuity with said opening, and the bottom of which, at its downstream part, at least, is inclined in the direction of the extreme downstream edge of said opening and is connected to that -this happens as if, in the event of wind, the internal volume of said chute is the object of a suction, the corresponding air circulation, from the inside to the outside, then opposing possible penetration of snow or rain.
  • the capacity to ventilate rooms internal to the building concerned, or to evacuate smoke from them, is also reinforced.
  • the sole of the ventilation element according to the invention projecting, downstream of said opening, a step, the upstream side of which is in practice in continuity with the inclined bottom of the chute, and the downstream side of which is inclined in the same direction as the extreme downstream cross member of said grid.
  • the inclined bottom of the chute of the suction element projects, a projection, at the base of at least one louvers of the grid, and in particular of that located furthest downstream.
  • At least one of the extreme inclined crosspieces of the grid of the ventilation element according to the invention are in continuity with a flat cross member, at their base, in the plane of the sole of the assembly.
  • this flat cross member On the side of the upstream extreme inclined cross member, this flat cross member, the width of which can be relatively large, closes the opening of the ventilation element according to the invention.
  • this passage allows the evacuation of any moisture which has nevertheless managed to penetrate the underlying chute, in particular in the event of rain or snow in the absence of wind.
  • any building covering can be recognized, the load-bearing structure of which is formed in the usual manner of purlins 10 and rafters 11.
  • the cover itself is formed of any cover elements 12, tiles or slates for example, suitably attached, by nailing or stapling for example, on battens themselves reported on the rafters 11 and not visible in the figure.
  • each of one or more of the cover elements 12 there are located, from place to place, one or more ventilation elements 14 according to the invention.
  • Two are located near the ridge of the roof concerned, and they are intended for the direct ventilation of the volume 15, or roof spaces, underlying this.
  • the third which is intended for the ventilation of rooms inside the building concerned, is on the contrary located, for example, on a full slope. it being understood that it can also be installed near the ridge of the cover if desired.
  • the ventilation element 14 comprises an opening 16 at least partially closed by a grid 17. detailed below.
  • said opening 16 comprises, for the definition of said opening 16, on the one hand, on the surface, a sole 18, by which it is adapted to be inserted within the cover to be fitted, in the plane of the latter, and in which said opening 16 is formed, and, on the other hand, under said sole 18, a chute 20, which is in continuity with the opening 16.
  • the sole 18 has a generally quadrangular outline, and, in practice, rectangular, and it is the same for the opening 16 which it comprises.
  • the grid 17 extends only over the most important upstream part of the opening 16, leaving a passage 21 free at the downstream part thereof.
  • the grid 17 comprises cross members 22 inclined in the manner of louvre blades.
  • these crosspieces 22 are alternately inclined in one direction and in the other, so that there are, on the one hand, crosspieces 22A inclined from upstream to downstream going from bottom to the top, and, on the other hand, crossbars 22B inclined from downstream to upstream, with end crossbars 22A, 22B converging towards each other from the inside to the outside, so that said crosspieces 22 define two by two of the openings 23 of cross section going in decreasing from the inside to the outside.
  • three openings 23 are thus provided parallel to each other, so that there are three crossbeams 22A and three crossbeams 22B, and, said crossbeams 22A, 22B having the same height and the same inclination in value absolute with respect to the sole 18, they are open upwards, parallel to said sole 18.
  • the openings 23 are adjacent, the intermediate crosspieces 22 which define them forming two by two a V-shaped profile.
  • At least one of the extreme inclined crosspieces 22A, 22B is in continuity with a flat crosspiece at its base.
  • these crosspieces 24A, 24B are coplanar, and they jointly belong to the same flange 25 which forms a frame around the openings 23 and of which they constitute two opposite edges, one of relatively large width LA, the other of width L B relatively small.
  • the inclined crossbeams 22A. 22B delimiting each of the gills 23 are connected to each other continuously at each of their ends, by bars 26, and. preferably, these are inclined relative to the sole 18, converging towards one another from the inside to the outside.
  • the openings 23 extend in projection, in a pyramidal trunk, on the flange 25, and the latter extends in the plane of the sole 18.
  • the bottom 27 of the trough 20 is, at its downstream part at least, inclined towards the extreme downstream edge of the opening 16 of the sole 18, and is connected to the latter.
  • this bottom 27 thus has an inclined face 28 only over part of its length, counting, for example, as shown, from the plumb of the extreme upstream inclined crosspiece 22A of the grid 17.
  • the trough 20 has a transverse U-shaped section, its sides 30 connecting directly to the sole 18 of the assembly.
  • its upstream edge 31 which is the free edge thereof, is perpendicular to the corresponding upstream edge of the opening 16 of the sole 18.
  • the chute 20 thus formed has a relatively reduced thickness, in any case less than the usual height of the rafters 11.
  • the sole 18 projects, upwards, that is to say outwards, a step 32.
  • the upstream side 33 of this step 32 is in continuity with the inclined face 28 of the bottom 27 of the chute 20, and its downstream side 34 is inclined in the same direction as the inclined crossbeams 22B of the grid 17.
  • plumb with at least one of the gills 23 of the grid 17 the inclined face 28 of the bottom 27 of the chute 20 projects, upwards, a projection 35, the portion 36 in the offset of said pan 28 necessary for the constitution of this projection 35 being in practice inclined in the same direction as the inclined crossbeams 22B of said grid 17.
  • a single projection 35 is thus provided, and it extends vertically. of the ear 23 furthest from the grid 17.
  • the chute 20 is in one piece with the sole 18, forming therewith a single piece.
  • the upstream edge 31 of the chute 20 then extends directly above the corresponding upstream edge of the opening 16 of the sole 18 is obviously such as to facilitate such an embodiment by molding.
  • the grid 17, with its flange 25 forms a separate part from the previous one, and suitably attached to the latter.
  • the sole 18 has a rebate 37 at the contour of said flange 25.
  • ventilation elements 14 used for the direct ventilation of the roof spaces 15 it may be associated with these, for air penetration into these roof spaces 15, specific ventilation elements used for this purpose. effect at the lower part of the cover concerned, for example on the sewer bank.
  • They may, for example, be simple openings, preferably closed by a grid, and / or doubliers having for this purpose such openings.
  • the chute 20 is closed at its end by a flange 25, while, by a duct 38 connected to its bottom 27 , it is in communication with the part or parts concerned.
  • the grid 17 is permanently attached, for example by gluing or welding, on the part formed jointly by the sole 18 and the chute 20. in the rebate 37 of said sole 18.
  • Figures 6 to 9 it is removable.
  • it comprises, along one of its edges, that corresponding to its upstream flat crosspiece 24A in the embodiment shown, at least one hook 40, suitable for allowing it to be hooked on the edge corresponding to the rebate 37 of the sole 18; in practice, two hooks 40, suitably spaced, are thus provided in the embodiment shown.
  • the grid 17 has, projecting from its lower surface, along each of its edges which are orthogonal to the previous one, near its downstream flat cross member 24B, a tab 42, by which it is adapted to cooperate disengageably in interlocking with the corresponding flank 30 of the chute 20.
  • latching means are provided for this purpose between such a tab 42 and such a sidewall 30.
  • bosses 43 provided in relief on this tab 42 for interlocking cooperation with housings 44 provided in a complementary manner, in the hollow, in the associated sidewall 30.
  • the establishment of the grid 17 is done by pivoting, by presentation at an angle through its hooks 40 on the relevant edge of the rebate 37 of the sole 18, then by folding up fitting into this rebate 37 and engaging its legs 42 with the sides 30 of the chute, sufficient play for such pivoting being provided between said hooks 40 and said edge of the rebate 37.
  • the possible removal of the grid 17 is done according to a process opposite to the previous one.
  • This removal allows the entire corresponding opening 16 to be released, thus giving wide access to the internal volume of the attic 15, for example for the possible attachment of any scaffolding console to any of the elements of frame, purlins 10 or rafters 11, present therein, through said opening 16.
  • each of the openings 23 is screened by a network of bars 45 coming in one piece from the corresponding crosspieces 22.
  • the present invention is not limited to the embodiments described and shown, nor to the mode of implementation indicated. but extends to any variant, in particular as regards the number of gills that the grid of the ventilation element according to the invention can have, and / or the inclination of the crosspieces which delimit them.
  • this tilt is not necessary ment the same for both of the sleepers defining the same hearing, and they do not necessarily have the same height; on the contrary, depending on the blankets to be fitted, and / or the prevailing climatic conditions, it can be envisaged to modulate the inclination and / or the height of such sleepers accordingly, the opening of a hearing being able to be done in an oblique plane with respect to the sole, provided that the crosspieces which delimit them remain inclined in opposite directions with respect to each other.
  • the width of the openings of the louvers and / or their spacing are arbitrary, said spacing however preferably being of the same order of magnitude as said width, and this latter being established so that, taking into account the number of louvres and possibly special conditions of use, the ventilation sought is satisfactory.
