Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a valve control device, in particular in an overhead camshaft engine, of the type comprising a rotary cam and transmission means cooperating with this cam to communicate to a valve, an alternating movement of lifted, against the force exerted by a return spring ensuring the fallout of the valve.
  • the dispensing valves are commonly controlled either directly by a cam via a pusher, or by a rocker, itself controlled by a cam or by a rod.
  • An essential aim of the present invention consists in overcoming the aforementioned drawbacks by a particular arrangement of the valve control members for an internal combustion engine.
  • the object of the invention is a valve control device of the aforementioned type in which, according to a feature of the invention, the sliding surface of the transmission means coming into contact with the cam remains immersed in an oil bath independent lubrication with a high viscosity of 0.2 to 1 Poiseuille.
  • This arrangement allows separate lubrication of the valve control device by bubbling in viscous oil.
  • a double condition of cleanliness and reduction of friction can thus be ensured because the high viscosities favor the formation of an oil film between the cam and the transmission means such as a rocker arm and a pusher.
  • valve control device also makes it possible not to lose a gain in friction by the use of an auxiliary oil pump of high performance.
  • the aforementioned transmission means consist of a rocker arm pivoting in its middle on a rocker shaft and provided around its pivot axis with grooves which open into the independent oil bath.
  • the rocker shaft can thus be permanently lubricated by bubbling.
  • the aforementioned transmission means consist of a pusher immersed in a bath of upper viscous oil. It is a variant for a direct valve attack which allows the above advantages to be preserved.
  • Figure 3 is a partial sectional view of Figure 2 along 3-3.
  • valves 2 In a cylinder head 1 of an internal combustion engine represented in FIG. 1, are essentially associated in a manner known per se, valves 2, housings 3 of spark plugs, a coolant 4, valve guides 5 provided with seals 6, return springs 7, cups 8, screws 9 for adjusting the play, rocker arms 10 mounted on rocker shafts 11, control cams 12.
  • a cylinder head cover 13 provided with cooling fins 14 covers this cylinder head 1 which contains a viscous oil bath 15 for lubrication thermally insulated from this cylinder head by a coating 17.
  • the rocker arms 10 each have a lower part 10, provided with a shoe 10 2 and embedded in the oil bath 15; each of these rockers pivots in its middle on a shaft 11 and has around its pivot axis, a circular groove 10 3 which opens towards the bottom of the bath 15 in a lower channel 10 4 .
  • a variant shown in Figures 2 and 3 relates to an overhead valve control by overhead camshaft with direct valve attacks.
  • the cam nose 12 1 projects oil by centrifugation into the groove 10 3 of the rocker arm 10 via the lower channel 10 4 and thus makes it possible to continuously lubricate the rocker shaft 11. Simultaneously, the oil splashes 16 external to the oil bath 15 are sufficient to lubricate the contact surface between the valve 2 and the clearance adjusting screw 9.
  • the coating 17 consisting either of an insulating material, for example plastic, or by an air knife taken in particular between two walls, makes it possible to maintain a sufficient viscosity of the oil in the hot bath. This thermal insulation limits the flow of heat which comes from the cylinder head 1 and heats the oil in the bath 15.
  • the cooling fins 14 of the cylinder head cover 13 contribute to evacuating the heat flow produced by the friction of the distribution. .
  • a highly viscous oil circulation with the independent upper bath 21 and supplied by the lower oil bath 31 serving as a reservoir, by means of the low pressure pump 32 allows ensuring the continuous lubrication of the sliding surfaces of the pushers 22 coming into contact with the cams 23 by the pads 38.
  • the viscous oil of the bath 31 rises successively through the channel 30, the groove 28 and the hole 27 in the oil ramp formed by the internal bore 25 of the shaft with cams 24. This oil then feeds through holes 26 judiciously drilled in the cams 23, the upper oil bath 21 before the pushers 22 attack by the sides of these cams. The viscous oil may then fall back into the lower bath 31 serving as a reservoir for closing the lubrication circuit of the distribution.
  • the seals 39 mounted on the valve guides 36 limit oil consumption as much as possible and a thermally insulating material can separate the oil baths 21 and 31 from the cylinder head. 20.
