Description

The invention relates to an insect screen for building openings, in particular windows, with a flexible network of weatherproof, rot-proof material that can be moved up and down in the manner of a blind in the building opening, and between a reciprocating fold-forming position in which the network the building opening is at least partially exposed, and an extended position, in which the network closes the building opening, can be moved up and down, and with a horizontal drop bar attached to the network. The invention further relates to a method for producing such an insect screen.

To seal building openings, in particular windows, against flying insects, such as flies, mosquitoes, wasps, etc., it is known to close the building opening with a net. This network is usually attached to a rigid frame that can be attached in front of the building opening. Such insect protection is effective when properly assembled, but it cannot be used anywhere without problems, e.g. not where the building opening is difficult to access or the outside surface is profiled, e.g. through weatherboard, cornices etc.

From FR-PS 1 499 994 an insect protection has become known which can be lowered like a curtain in front of the building opening. To achieve a satisfactory seal against insects, the side edges of the curtain would have to be pressed tightly against the front wall of the building after it had been lowered and held in this position. Separate fasteners are required for this which are cumbersome to operate and are not always reliable.

Attempts have also been made to design an insect screen in the manner of a rolling curtain, which, when rolled up, can be stored in a built-in box attached to the lintel and can be pulled down sealingly into the building opening on rail guides on both sides. Such an implementation is associated with a relatively high cost. A similar construction is also known from FR-PS 1 574 013, the side edges of the network being guided by means of metallic sliding buttons attached to them in substantially U-shaped guide rails fastened in the building opening, the network edges being guided into the opening of the U - Intervene profiles. This construction is complex and still ensures that there are residual gaps between the sliding buttons through which insects can slip. In addition, the sliding buttons hinder a tight collapse of the net in its open position, so that when the net is pulled open, it forms a voluminous package that interferes with the incidence of light through the opening of the building.

The invention is now based on an insect screen of the type described at the outset and sets itself the task of avoiding the disadvantages of the known constructions described above and of creating an insect screen for building openings with which the building opening is sealed easily and reliably with little effort, the latter Insect protection can be used universally. The invention solves this problem in that the width of the undeformed network is greater than the clear width of the building opening, that the network is fixed in a harmonious manner by means of horizontal folded edges and that the side edges of the network are bent relative to the central part of the network between them and to the - Elastic sections of the side faces of the building opening lying at right angles to the network plane The drop bar is shorter than the width of the net. The flexible network, thanks to its harmonica-like fixed fold, allows the network to rub or rub against the side surfaces of the building opening with its side edges during up and down movement, without the up and down movement of the network when released or when Closure of the building opening excessive force is necessary. In the closed position of the blind-like insect screen, the building opening is completely sealed without losing its air and light permeability. The effort for the insect protection according to the invention is approximately the same as that of an ordinary blind and is therefore considerably less than in the known constructions described at the beginning. Furthermore, the invention can be used for any building opening, as long as only the sections of the building opening side surfaces that interact with the side edges of the building are reasonably flat. The flexible net adapts itself to slight bumps. This also has the advantage that the insect protection according to the invention is independent of the adherence to precise dimensional tolerances, since within certain limits it does not matter if the side edges of the net are more or less bent on the sections of the seal when the net is moved up or down Lateral surfaces of the building opening, for example on the floor inner surfaces, rest as long as only the condition is maintained that the net side edge brushes against the section of the side surface of the building opening that cooperates with it and thus ensures the sealing effect. It is therefore sufficient to keep a certain standard width of the network to be used in stock for a certain width range of building openings to be closed, as a result of which expensive custom-made products can generally be avoided.

The drop bar favors the downward movement of the net due to its weight in a manner known per se, so that no train is exerted on the lower edge of the net during its downward movement must be practiced. The drop bar, which is shorter than the net width, does not hinder the side net edges in their sealing effect and does not grind on the side edges of the floor surfaces or the like. Rather, it is due to the two net side edges approximately in the middle between these two floor surfaces or the like. guided.

Another advantage of the insect protection according to the invention is that the harmonica-like fixation of the network means that it takes up very little space in the folded state, i.e. in the release position of the building opening, so that in this position the passage of light or air through the opening of the building is not or only slightly affected. The fixation of the net in zigzag folds also ensures that the zigzag-like course of the net is retained even when the net is in use, e.g. by driving rain, gets wet once.

Above all, however, a perfect seal of the building opening against flying and crawling insects is achieved since there are no residual gaps between the side edges of the net and the adjacent sections of the side faces of the building opening.

As already mentioned, the up and down movement of the network can be done in the manner of a blind. This makes it possible to use the means of movement known per se for blinds, such as pull cords, belts, rollers with endless cords, crank drives, electric drives, etc. Preferably, these drive means are only used for the pull-up movement of the network, whereas the lowering by the weight of the drop bar is effected. A particularly favorable embodiment exists within the scope of the invention if the middle part of the net has at least two spaced-apart openings between the two bent side edges and between two adjacent folded edges, through which pull cords are guided, which are on the lower edge of the net on the drop bar are attached. These openings are expediently formed by long slots, for example with a length of 5 mm, the longitudinal direction of which is directed from top to bottom. If the size of these elongated slots is sensibly dimensioned, it is prevented that insects can pass through these openings, whereby it must be taken into account that the opening cross section is essentially filled by the pull cord which passes through, so that the remaining opening cross section is too small for an insect. Since these openings and thus the pull cords guided in them lie between the two bent network side edges, neither this turn is impeded by the pull cords nor the pull cord function by the turn.

In order to avoid that the net oscillates due to the influence of wind and thus the sealing effect on the side edges of the net is impaired, according to a further development of the invention, the bottom section of the net is adjustable, for example by slotted perforated disks pushed onto the pull cords and held by a knot of the same , which hold several of the fixed folding edges of the net together, adjustable to the required height of the building opening. This also has the advantage that the total length of the network can be adapted to the existing height of the building opening, so that the not fully extended, zigzag folded bottom power supply remains attached to the drop bar by means of the boundary formed by the perforated disks. As a result, the construction can also be adapted to relatively widely varying heights of the building opening as required. The slotted perforated disks used as a limitation can be designed in the manner of slotted washers.

If in the context of the invention on the underside of the drop bar adhesive organs, such as snappers, push buttons or the like. For attachment to the lower edge of the building opening, for example on the window parapet, security against wind and storm is created, so that the lower edge of the network and the case rod cannot swing out.

A plastic-coated glass fiber fabric is particularly suitable as the net material. In such a way, the fixed folded edges can be introduced without difficulty to form the harmonica-like shape of the net. As a result, the zigzag character of the network is maintained for a practically unlimited time, even if the network is arranged on the outside of the building and is therefore constantly exposed to rain and other weather influences.

The method according to the invention for producing the insect protection according to the invention consists in the fact that the net, which consists in particular of glass fibers, contains a substance that fixes the net mesh, e.g. liquid vinyl-based plastic, coated and then fixed under heat and steam in zigzag folds. This creates a network that can be easily extended to a substantially extended position, but after the force causing the stretching stops automatically returning to a slightly zigzag shape and therefore collapses like a blind in a zigzag manner. The coating of the mesh mesh prevents the mesh mesh from enlarging and insects from being able to slip through, particularly at the folded edges.

In the drawing, the subject of the invention is shown schematically using an exemplary embodiment. 1 shows a front view of the building opening closed by the insect screen according to the invention. Fig.2 is a section along the line II - II on a larger scale. Fig.3 is a section along the line III - III of Fig.2. 4 shows the upper edge of the building opening at the start of the downward movement of the network from its open position to the closed position. Fig. 5 also shows the upper edge of the building opening, but towards the end of the elevator movement of the network. 6 shows a side view of a variant relating to the fixation of the lower edge of the net.

According to the exemplary embodiment of the drawing, a building opening is to be closed so as to be insect-proof and yet permeable to light and air. The building opening has a rectangular cross section which is delimited by the stick lights or wall lights which are delimited by two side surfaces 1, the lintel 2 and the parapet 3. A head rail 4 is fastened to the lintel 2 or embedded in the lintel and carries a flexible network 5 made of weatherproof, rot-proof material, in particular of a glass fiber fabric. This net 5 is placed in zigzag folds, the fold edges 6 of which are at a distance of about 40 mm from each other in the illustrated embodiment. In its extended position (Fig. 1), this network closes the building opening tightly. For this purpose, the width B (FIG. 1) of the network 5 is slightly larger than the width b (clear width) of the building opening, that is to say the distance between the two side surfaces 1 of the window frame or the wall lights from one another. Characterized loops or clips the net 5 at the side faces 1 and is located on this side faces 1 to close, so that a perfect tightness against insects fly-results. At its lower edge, the net 5 is connected to a drop bar 7 which can be fastened to the parapet 3, for example by means of snaps, push buttons 8 or the like. This also prevents the network 5 from being able to move out of the building opening, for example due to the pressure of the wind or drafts, as a result of which the tightness mentioned would be lost.

The net 5 can be in the building opening or within the window frame between a zigzag folded position (Fig. 4 to 5), in which the net at least partially clears the building opening, and an extended position (Fig. 1), in which the net 5 closes the building opening, back and forth, for which purpose two or more pull cords 9 are provided in the region of the side edges of the net 5, the lower ends of which are fastened to the drop bar 7 and the top by the head Rail 4 are in a known manner to a common tension member 10 (Fig.4,5), which can be locked in any known manner in the drawn, zigzag folded position of the network 5. From this position, the net 5 can be lowered due to its own weight and the influence of the weight of the drop bar 7 in the direction of arrow 12 (FIG. 4), the lateral longitudinal edges 11 of the net 5 bending upwards as a result of the frictional adhesion on the side surfaces 1 (Fig.4), which is made possible by the elastic flexibility of the net 5. When pulling the net 5 from the extended position into the zigzag folded release position in the direction of the arrow 13 of Figure 5, the lateral longitudinal edges 11 of the net 5 bend down and grind on the side surfaces 1. To avoid that at the movements mentioned, the drop bar 7 grinds on the side faces 1 of the building opening, the drop bar 7 is shorter than the clear width b of the building opening, which also enables the network to be adapted to the required width of the building opening.

The pull cords 9, preferably made of terylene, pass through openings 14 of the net 5, which are formed by elongated slots with a length of about 5 mm, the long side of which (seen in the extended position of the net 5, FIG. 1) is directed from top to bottom . These openings 14 are each provided in the number corresponding to the number of pull cords 9 between each two adjacent folding edges 6 of the net 5 and dimensioned such that the pull cords 9 pass through as closely as possible so that insects cannot pass through the remaining gap.

Das.zigzag folded network 5 in the manner of a blind should also be designed so that it can be used universally for the widest possible height range of the building opening. For this purpose, the excess length of the net 5 formed by the lower part 15 (FIG. 6) in the extended position of the net 5 is prevented from developing by the fact that the latter Power supply 15 is held by limits on the drop bar 7. These limits are formed by slotted perforated disks 16 which are pushed onto the pull cords 9 and held by knots 17 of the pull cords 9.

The net 5 consists of a glass fiber fabric that has fixed folded edges. For this purpose, the glass fiber network is coated with a substance that fixes the mesh, in particular liquid vinyl plastic, and then fixed like a pleat under the influence of heat and steam.
