Definitions
- the present invention relates to a bracelet comprising a flexible strap and a clasp, which can be used for a watch, but not exclusively.
- Known flexible strap bracelets are generally fixed to the clasp in a fixed manner and their adjustment to the length of the wrist is generally achieved by more or less overlapping the two strands of the bracelet.
- the object of the invention is to produce a bracelet which does not have the above drawbacks, that is to say requiring only a very limited stock of different sets of components and ensuring that the clasp is always centered at middle of the arm.
- the bracelet according to the invention is characterized in that the strap comprises at its end adjacent to the clasp a series of equidistant projections, parallel to each other, said projections being intended to cooperate with an element of the clasp to ensure the adjusting the length of the strap and retaining it in the clasp.
- the strap can be quickly and easily adapted to the buyer's wrist. Once the strap is fixed by means of the clasp retaining element, in such a way that the clasp is well centered on the wrist of the user, it suffices to cut the end of the unused bracelet which protrudes from the retainer.
- FIGS 1 and 2 show the two parts 1 and the of the clasp to which are fixed the flexible straps 2 and 2 '.
- Each strap is made up of two parts, or layers, 3 and 4 superimposed and glued to each other. Each of these layers, but at least one of them can be made of leather or plastic.
- bars 5, made of rigid material are arranged at regular intervals and parallel to each other between the two parts 3 and 4 of the strap, so as to produce a series of protrusions 6 on the inner layer 4 of the strap.
- the inner part 4 is that which is intended to come into contact with the wrist of the wearer of the bracelet.
- the bars 5 can for example be glued to the outer part 3 of the strap.
- the end of the latter, carrying the projections 6, is introduced into the part 1 of the clasp and held against its bottom 7 by a bar 8 disposed in the interval between two adjacent projections 6a, 6b.
- the bar is inserted at its ends into holes 9 drilled opposite one another in the sides 10 of the clasp.
- the bar 8 can be spring-loaded and, when it is mounted in the clasp, it no longer leaves enough room for the projections 6 to come off, even if a strong pull is exerted on the free part of the strap, so that the latter is well retained in the clasp. If necessary, and for aesthetic reasons, the holes 9 can be blind so as not to be visible from the outside of the clasp.
- the length of the straps 2 and 2 ' is adjusted so that the bracelet fits snugly around the wrist and the clasp is centered in the middle of the arm, then the bars 8 are inserted into the spaces between two projections best corresponding to the holes 9. All that remains is to cut out the part of the straps which protrude beyond the bar in the clasp, in order to release the interior thereof and allow it to be closed.
- FIG. 2 it is the part of the strap situated to the right of the line A-A which must be eliminated, by cutting along this line, situated just after the last projection 6b.
- Figure 3 shows an element 11 intended to be mounted between the two parts 3 and 4 of the strap.
- This element in one piece, is in the form of a ladder and it includes two uprights 12 connected by bars 13.
- scale 11 To allow the bracelet to conform to the shape of the wrist, scale 11 must be flexible and it will advantageously be molded in plastic.
- Figure 4 is a longitudinal section of the ladder, showing its flat bottom 14 and the rounded shape of the bars 13.
- the ladder is for example glued by its flat bottom 14 against the inner side of the part 3 of the strap, then part 4 is arranged on the ladder, the empty spaces between the bars 13 of the latter making it possible to glue part 4 on part 3 of the strap.
- the element 11 in the form of a full, flat, flexible and molded plastic plate, of external dimensions similar to those of the scale and comprising raised ribs, acting as bars, for produce the desired notches.
- the spaces between the ribs allow to glue the inner part 4 of the strap on the outer part 3 thereof.
- Figure 5 shows another embodiment of the invention according to which the fixing of the strap to the clasp is no longer carried out by a bar but by a lever 15 capable of pivoting about an axis 16 mounted in the clasp 1
- the lever comprises two arms 17 and 18, of unequal lengths, one of them, 18 serving as a lever.
- the strap is held in place against the bottom 7 of the clasp by the fact that the end of the shortest arm 17 is inserted between two adjacent projections 6 and that the end of the longest arm 18 presses against the strap, pressing it against the bottom of the clasp.
- the lever is held in place by two bulges 19, one in each side of the clasp.
- FIGS. 6 to 8 is illustrated the adaptation of the bracelet to a clasp formed by three branches 20, 21, 22 articulated to each other and which are intended to be folded upon each other in iron-m ed position.
- On the two end branches 20, respectively 22 is articulated around an axis 23, respectively 24, a stirrup 25, respectively 26, between the two arms of which is fixed a bar 27, respectively 28 intended to be received between two adjacent projections 6 of the strap 2, 2 '.
- the fixing of the strap is therefore carried out in the same manner as in the first embodiment described.
- the two stirrups 25, 26 are provided on their upper face, as shown in FIGS. 7 and 8, with a plate 29 forming a cover against which the strap 2 'rests.
- This strap has been described to be applied to the clasp of the bracelet, it is of course possible to envisage an application of this system not only for fixing the clasp but also that of a watch or an identity plate.
- notches are arranged perpendicular to the length of the strap; they can also be arranged obliquely or in two rows parallel to the latter.
