Definitions

  • the manufacturer of bracelets must however provide long enough strands to suit the larger wrists. Since the majority of people, however, have a wrist smaller than this standard, it follows that the manufacturer in the majority of cases produces an unnecessarily high number of bracelet links, since several of them are subsequently thrown away.
  • the wearer of the watch can no longer modify the length of the bracelet thereafter, the latter is likely to inconvenience him because, during a working day, the wrists do not always have the same size; they tend to swell around the evening. If the bracelet is properly adjusted in the morning, it may, in the evening, compress the wrist unpleasantly, even unbearably. If, on the other hand, it is in the evening that the bracelet is properly adjusted, it may allow the watch to turn around the wrist in the morning.
  • a clasp having the features defined by the characteristic of claim 1 has the advantage of allowing its wearer to modify the length of its bracelet very quickly and easily. It suffices for him, in fact, to lift the elastic member of the clasp to release the inner element therefrom and make it slide out of the outer element over a distance corresponding to the swelling of his wrist. By then releasing said elastic member, it again blocks the inner element of the clasp in the outer element in the new position. By the same operation of said elastic member, it can also open the bracelet. It suffices to keep this elastic member away from the inner element of the clasp until the latter is entirely disengaged from the outer element.
  • the bracelet has temporarily become too large, it suffices to push the inner element of the clasp a little more into the outer element to shorten the bracelet to the desired extent.
  • the wolf teeth of the inner element in fact, automatically separate the elastic member contained in the outer element when the inner element is pushed into it.
  • the special embodiments according to claim 2 have the additional advantage of allowing the bracelet manufacturer to produce standard length bracelet strands in the case of metallic bracelets as well as in the case of leather, fabric or leather bracelets. plastic, which allows it to achieve significant savings. Indeed, in the 85% of men, for example, the difference between the perimeter of the smallest wrist and that of the largest wrist is only 28 mm. However, with a clasp having a length of 3 to 3.5 cm, the bracelet can be adapted to all these wrists. To this end, it suffices to engage the bars for fixing the strands of the bracelet in pairs of holes in the elements of the clasp more or less close to the center of the latter.
  • the features of the clasp defined by claim 3 have the advantage of making it easier to close the strap for the wearer of the watch. It must not, in fact, strive to bring the inner element of the clasp into the other by trying to slide it, which is not easy to do with one hand; it is enough for him to place the two elements of the clasp one above the other, then to press them one against the other to close his bracelet.
  • the features defined by claim 4 have the advantage first of all of allowing a very simple production of the elastic member of the clasp, which ensures the locking of its two elements one inside the other, and also that to give the stamping used to house said elastic member a decorative function on the visible face of the clasp.
  • the clasp shown in the drawing includes two elements 1, 2, curved in an arc of a circle (Fig. 2) to best fit the shape of the wrist.
  • the length of element 1 is, at least approximately, equal to twice that of element 2.
  • the profile of these elements has the general shape of a rectangle.
  • Elements 1. 2 are hollow.
  • the upper wall 3 of the element 1 is stamped so as to present a longitudinal channel 4 on the inside and a median projection 5 on the outside (Fig. 3 and 4).
  • the dimensions of this element 1 are adjusted to those of the element 2 so that the latter can slide freely in the element 1.
  • l element 2 In the middle part of its upper face and over a width slightly less than that of the channel 4, l element 2 has a row of wolf teeth 6 extending from its end entering element 1 to some distance from its other end (Fig. 1).
  • a row of equidistant pairs of holes 7 is drilled through the flanks 8 of the element 2, over the entire length of the latter.
  • the end 9 of a bracelet strand, of width equal to that of the opening of the element 2 can thus be fixed to this element using a spring bar - shown schematically at 10 and identical used to attach the strap to the watch case - simply by engaging the pins formed at the ends of this bar in any of the pairs of holes 7.
  • Pairs of holes 11 are likewise drilled through the flanks 12 of the element 1, however only over half of its length, from its end opposite to that receiving the element 2.
  • the end 13 of the other strand of the bracelet can be engaged more or less deeply in the element 1 and fixed to the latter in the desired position using a bar 14, identical to the bar 10.
  • the holes 7 and 11 thus make it possible to adapt the length of the bracelet to the wrist of its purchaser, by fixing the ends 9, 13 of the bracelet strands more or less deeply in the elements 1, 2 of the clasp. So that the latter remains in the middle of the width of the wrist, when the watch is itself on the wrist in the middle of its width, the lengths of the ends 9, 13 of the strands of the bracelet engaged in the elements 1, 2 will be chosen equal .
  • the external face of the sides of the element 2 has two oblique surface portions 15, 16.
  • the folded parts 17, forming the face of the element 1 resting on the wrist, are eliminated. over a little more than half the length of the element 1, from its end receiving the element 2.
  • the internal face of the sides 12 also has a portion of oblique surface 18, with the same inclination as the surface portions 15, 16 and which extends from its lower edge to a shoulder 19.
  • the bracelet is closed by placing the element 2 under the element 1, as shown in FIG. 3, then by pressing the two elements of the clasp one against the other, in order to bring them into the position of FIG. 4 by notch engagement of element 2 in element 1.
  • element 1 has a longitudinal slot 20 in the middle of its wall resting on the wrist , in order to give its sides the elasticity necessary for the notched engagement described. After this engagement, the element 2 can slide freely between the upper wall 3, the shoulder 19 and the oblique surface portion 18 of the element 1.
  • the element 1 contains an elastic member constituted by a spring leaf 21 (Fig. 2) which extends over the entire length of the element 1. This leaf takes place in the longitudinal channel 4. Its end 22, which is adjacent to that, 13, of the bracelet strand, is fixed to the bottom of the channel 4: At its other end, projecting from the element 1, the blade 21 has a gripping element, which is constituted by a double folding 23 of its end. On its inside-facing side of the element 1, the blade 21 carries a row of wolf teeth 24, of the same dimensions as the teeth 6 of the element 2 and which are normally engaged with the latter to lock the item 2 in item 1.
  • the latter can enlarge his bracelet at will, by grasping the end 23 of the spring leaf 21 using a fingernail and away from element 2 of the clasp. This element is then released and can be extracted from the desired quantity of element 1. A displacement of 0, cm of this element 2 is more than enough to compensate for the increase in daytime volume of the wrist. As the teeth 6 do not go to the end of the element 2, which is adjacent to the end 9 of the bracelet strand attached to this element, these teeth will remain hidden in the element 1 and will therefore not disturb the aesthetics of the clasp after the indicated compensatory movement. When the length of the bracelet has thus been adapted to the momentary dimensions of the wrist, the blade 21 is released. Its teeth 24 again engage with the teeth 6 of the element 2 and consequently lock the latter in its new position. As teeth 6 and 24 are relatively small, the length of the bracelet can be adjusted almost continuously.
