Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a double safety clasp for connecting the two strands of a bracelet, in particular a watch bracelet.
  • a so-called safety clasp in addition to being able to be actuated with ease, must meet at least two fundamental conditions. First, it must allow a first easy hanging of the bracelet on the wrist so that any danger of falling is avoided during this operation. Then, once the bracelet is finally closed, any movement of the wrist, of the hand, of the action of the clothing covering the wrist must in no case lead to an untimely opening of the clasp.
  • the first of these conditions is achieved by means of a so-called wallet clasp where each of the strands of the bracelet are linked together by two articulated segments which can be folded one over the other.
  • the second of these conditions is usually met using various forms of snap closures.
  • the device described responds to the security that we have given our to achieve because any untimely movement will not succeed in opening the clasp.
  • it has the drawback of using two more or less rigid segments, which is uncomfortable on the wrist, unattractive at the same time as ill-suited to a bracelet with refined lines and often made of precious metal.
  • the clasp according to the present invention avoids the use of the two segments mentioned while having excellent safety.
  • the end of the first strand of the bracelet has a tongue articulated around a first axis perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the bracelet to be folded against the first strand of said bracelet in the closed position, said tongue being susceptible, in the open position. , to be introduced into an opening carried by the end of the second strand to make said second strand integral with the first when said tongue is in the closed position.
  • the end of the first strand further comprises a plate articulated around a second axis extending in the longitudinal direction of the bracelet and capable of being folded over said tongue when said tongue is in the closed position.
  • a clasp having some of the above characteristics is described in the disclosure of invention CH-A-332930.
  • a closure device comprising a rectangular element equipped with a tongue articulated around an axis parallel to the longitudinal direction of the bracelet, axis located on the 'one of the edges of the element, said tab being able to engage with notch on the opposite edge of said element.
  • This element carries a dowel covered by the tongue in the notched position, said dowel being arranged to receive one of the holes carried by a second strand of the bracelet and to keep this second strand attached to the element when the tongue is in the closed position.
  • this loop On the same element is still articulated a loop around an axis perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the bracelet, this loop can be folded over the element so as to cover the tongue.
  • the axis of articulation of the loop coincides with the place of attachment of the first strand on the rectangular element.
  • the cited clasp also has double security, because if the buckle comes to open, the second strand of the bracelet remains trapped by the tongue and the ankle.
  • this construction has several drawbacks. The one in particular to make it difficult and not easy to close the bracelet. It is indeed a question of introducing the second strand having a longitudinal series of holes in the loop, then in the passer-by following it and then introducing one of the holes of the strand in the ankle. These operations are inconvenient and as long as the tongue is not folded down on the strand, there is always the risk of escaping the strand that you want to attach, which can cause the watch to fall. A similar risk exists when the bracelet is opened when the tongue is released from its notch. At this point, in fact, the strand with holes can escape from the ankle without this being wanted, which can once again cause the watch to fall.
  • the end of one of the strands is provided with an opening intended to be threaded on a tongue. which is the first security shutdown in the system. It is this one tab that traps the strand without the need for a dowel. This arrangement makes it very easy to close the bracelet.
  • this tongue cannot overturn back and on the other hand it can carry a latch forming a hook, it will not be possible for the strand to inadvertently escape from the tongue on which it has been introduced.
  • Fig. 1 shows a perspective view of the open clasp according to the invention to which a metallic link bracelet is attached;
  • fig. 2 is a sectional view of the locking device according to line II-II of FIG. 1;
  • fig. 3 is a sectional view of the closure element along line III-III of FIG. 1.
  • Fig. 1 is a perspective view of the clasp according to the invention.
  • the bracelet comprises two strands 1 and 2 each formed of a succession of links hinged to one another.
  • the end 5 of the first strand 1 carries a system 3 comprising a first element of the closure 10 articulated around a first axis 7 which is perpendicular to the direction of the bracelet. This element is arranged to trap the end 4 of the second strand 2.
  • the system 3 also comprises a second closing element 20 articulated around a second axis 8 extending in the longitudinal direction of the bracelet.
  • the first closure element consists of a tongue 10 articulated around a hinge 7 arranged perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the bracelet. Tongue and hinge are made in such a way that the tongue cannot tip backwards, its open angular position being roughly that shown in fig. 1.
  • the hinge 7 is integral with the end 5 of the strand 1 of the bracelet.
  • the tongue 10 has at its free end 11 a latch 12. This latch, after having folded the tongue in the direction of the strand 1, cooperates with a rib 13 carried by the end of the bracelet to thus notch the tongue in the closed position.
  • the tongue also carries a rim 15 which will serve to unlock it, by means of a nail for example.
  • the end 4 of the second strand 2 is provided with a rectangular opening 17 intended to be threaded on the tongue 10.
  • lengths 18 and widths 16 will be chosen such that the end 4 is centered perfectly around hinge 7.
  • the second closure element comprises a plate 20 articulated around a hinge 8 disposed in the longitudinal direction of the bracelet or, if preferred, disposed perpendicular to the hinge 7. When the tongue 10 has been folded down, it is then possible to fold the plate 20 over the tab 10.
  • Fig. 1 shows that the plate 20 is provided with an excavation 21 in which is housed the tongue 10, this in order to minimize the height of the clasp.
  • the plate 20 further carries at its free hooked end 22 capable of coming into contact with a locking device 6.
  • the blocking device can be produced in different ways.
  • a preferred variant is shown in Figs. 1, 2 and 3.
  • the locking device 6 comprises a trigger 25 which can be actuated manually and subjected to the action of a spring 26.
  • the device 6 and the trigger 25 are each provided with a hole 23 and 24 respectively. At rest, the holes are slightly off-center along the axes designated by a and a i .
  • the hook 22 first enters the hole 23 on which it is centered. When it approaches the hole 24 of the trigger 25, its nose 27 slides the trigger to the right until the edge of said trigger is opposite the notch 28 of the hook 22. At this moment, the trigger penetrates into said recess recalled that it is by the spring 26. The closure is then blocked. From this moment only a maneuver exerted with the finger can cover the clasp. This is the second safety closure presented by the clasp.
  • the upper face 29 of the plate 20 can carry decorative patterns such as a monogram or precious stones, with the aim of personalizing and embellishing the bracelet.
