Description

The invention relates to a surfboard consisting of a plurality arranged essentially parallel to one another and in the longitudinal direction; hose-like pressure chambers made of flexible material, which are individually inflatable and are housed in a common flexible shell, which is stretched by the inflated hoses.

Such a surfboard is known (DE-A-27 00 887). In the known surfboard, the shell is divided into several chambers by partitions that extend in the longitudinal direction. There is an inflatable tube in each chamber. All hoses have the same diameter. After -the inflation of the hoses the surfboard has a slightly ge - corrugated top and bottom because the sheath in the area of the partition walls held by them and is tensioned only in the region of the chambers. So this surfboard is similar to another version (US-A-2513 857) in its constructive structure in. essentially modeled on that of an air mattress. It can only be inflated with a relatively low pressure, otherwise the seams connecting the partition walls to the sheath will tear. The inflated surfboard may have sufficient longitudinal stiffness, but its torsional stiffness leaves something to be desired due to the construction and the resulting limited inflation pressure.

The object of the invention is to improve the stiffness, in particular the torsional stiffness, of a surfboard of the type described in the introduction.

This object is achieved in that the hoses connected to one another in the longitudinal direction are supported flat against one another and that the outside hoses have a smaller diameter than the inner hoses.

With this surfboard, the inflation pressure can be increased considerably because the interconnected tubes support each other and on the cover that is stretched as a result, and because the cover no longer has intermediate walls and is only stretched by the inflated tubes. The fact that the outside hoses have a smaller diameter than the inner hoses, in combination with the larger inflation pressure, results in a significant improvement not only in the torsional stiffness but also in the bending stiffness in the longitudinal and transverse directions. Furthermore, at least on the upper side there is a central, essentially horizontal standing area with adjoining sloping standing areas, which are particularly important when the surfboard is used as a windsurfing board and the person driving it is supported on these sloping standing areas In general, even a separate footboard for the person riding the surfboard becomes superfluous, because the stretched cover guarantees sufficient stability.

Without further ado it is possible to support the tubes in the longitudinal direction in such a way that the cover stretched over them forms a flat floor at least amidships and in the stern area so that the driving properties are no longer impaired by a wavy floor. The support surfaces of at least the outside hoses should expediently be arranged at an acute angle to the flat floor formed by the tensioned casing. Such an arrangement of the support surfaces in fact also influences the cross-sectional shape of the inflated tubes supported on one another and thus the cross-sectional shape of the surfboard.

In a preferred embodiment of the invention, two inner tubes are provided, the common support surface of which is arranged substantially perpendicular to the flat bottom formed by the cover, while in addition to each inner tube, an outer tube with a smaller diameter is connected via an inclined support surface.

The surfboard designed in this way is rigid and torsionally rigid; it has a stable footprint in the various inclination levels that are optimal for the respective driving condition, and it is also despite the comparatively high inflation pressure of z. B. 1.5 to 2 bar less dangerous for swimmers than a surfboard made of rigid material.

It goes without saying that the hoses and the sheath should consist of a sufficiently strong but flexible material, in particular a plastic-coated fabric.

The surfboard according to the invention can be designed in various ways. For example, the casing stretched over the inflated hoses can have outer stabilizing edges in the area of the flat bottom, which are preferably molded-on material reinforcements (made of flexible material). These stabilizing edges improve course stability, but hardly require any additional space on the packed surfboard.

Furthermore, openings can be provided in the area of the flat bottom for the insertion or insertion of stabilizing fins and / or a sword. The feedthroughs g s for the Finns and / barren sword can be made watertight without difficulty.

In order to facilitate access to the individual pressure chambers or to their valves, the cover in the rear area should have a closable opening which at the same time also serves to insert or insert fins and swords or the like before the pressure chambers are inflated.

It is understood that the invention Surfboard becomes narrower in the bow area and thereby approximates a ship shape. In addition, it can be expedient if the hoses are arranged essentially in one plane in the bow region to form a curved bottom through the casing.

In the case of the surfboard according to the invention, there is also the possibility of changing the jump if at least one tensioning rope, which is fastened in the bow area and amidships or tensionable in the stern area, is arranged on the top and the casing. The jump can be enlarged or reduced by changing the tension of this tension rope.

A mast chair can be arranged on the outside on the top of the cover if the surfboard is to be used for windsurfing.

  • Fig. 3 einen Schnitt in Richtung III-III des Gegenstandes nach Fig. 1.
In the following an embodiment of the invention shown in the drawing is explained; it shows
  • 1 is a schematic side view of an inflatable surfboard,
  • 2 shows a section in the direction 11-11 through the object according to FIG. 1,
  • 3 shows a section in the direction III-III of the object according to FIG. 1.

The surfboard shown consists in its basic structure of four tubes 1 -4 arranged in the longitudinal direction of the surfboard and a sleeve 5 surrounding the tubes. Tubes 1-4 and sleeve 5 consist of a plastic-coated fabric. The individual hoses 1-4 form separate pressure chambers. They have valves or the like arranged in the rear area of the surfboard, which are accessible via an opening which is arranged in the rear area of the casing 5 and can be closed watertight with a flap 6.

When viewed from above, the surfboard is in the form of conventional surfboards, i.e. that is, the width of the surfboard tapers to a ship-like shape in the bow area.

Es kann aber auch genügen, wenn benachbarte Schläuche lediglich linienförmig miteinander verbunden sind.2 and 3, the outside hoses 1, 4 have a smaller diameter than the inside hoses 2, 3. In the exemplary embodiment shown, the diameter of the inside hoses 2, 3 is about 1.5 times the outside hoses 1, 4. The inflated hoses are supported on one another via essentially flat support surfaces 7, 8, 9. These support surfaces are also connecting surfaces between the respective adjacent hoses. However, it may also be sufficient if adjacent tubes are only connected to one another in a line.

In the illustrated surfboard, the support surfaces 7, 9 are arranged between the outside hoses 1, 4 and their respectively adjacent inside hoses 2 and 3 at an angle to one another in such a way that, when the hoses 1 to 4 are inflated, the sheath 5 is tensioned such that a flat bottom 10 is formed. The support surface 8 between the two inner tubes 2, 3 is oriented essentially perpendicular to the flat floor 10.

Because of the different diameters of the tubes 1 -4, a middle standing surface 11 is created on the top of the surfboard, which extends essentially parallel to the flat bottom 10. This central base 11 is followed by inclined bases 12, 13 on both sides, the inclination of which depends on the diameter ratio of the inner and outer tubes.

Wie man den Fig. 1 und 3 entnimmt, ist zwischen Bug und Mittschiff ein Maststuhl 14 auf der Oberseite der Hülle 5 befestigt, an dem sich ein nicht dargestellter Mast befestigen läßt, wenn das Surfbrett zum Windsurfen verwendet wird.1 and 3, a mast chair 14 is attached between the bow and midships on the top of the shell 5, to which a mast, not shown, can be attached when the surfboard is used for windsurfing.

Fig.2 also shows that the shell 5 amidships and in the stern area, then in the bottom 10, lateral stabilizing edges 15, 16 which are integrally formed on the shell 5 and which can for example consist of the same material as the plastic coating of the Cover 5. These stabilizing edges serve to improve the course stability.

Two fins 17, 18 arranged in the rear area and a sword 19 arranged in front also contribute to improving the course stability. As long as the hoses 1-4 are not yet inflated, the fins 17, 18 and the sword 19 are inserted through the opened flap 6 in the rear area into assigned through-openings, not shown, in the floor 10 and fastened watertight to the floor. If necessary, the sword can also extend to the upper standing surface 11 if a suitable passage is arranged between the inner tubes 2 and 3.

In the bow region (FIG. 3), the tubes 1-4 or their longitudinal center lines in the inflated state are arranged essentially in one plane in such a way that a curved base section 20 is created. In addition, two tensioning cables 21, 22 are laid in the bow area on the top of the surfboard under the cover 5, which are attached to the bow in a manner not shown and which can be tensioned amidships or in the stern area with a suitable device. By tensioning these tensioning ropes, the jump of the surfboard can be changed, as is shown in FIG. 1 on the one hand with solid lines and on the other hand with dashed lines.

The surfboard shown can be transported in a space-saving manner, easily installed by inserting the fins 17, 18 and / or the sword 19 and by inflating the tubes 1-4. It has great flexural rigidity in both the longitudinal and transverse directions and additionally a satisfactory torsional rigidity. The surfboard can be made in different lengths and can therefore be adapted to different requirements. In any case, its driving characteristics are comparable to the driving characteristics of rigid surfboards.
