Definitions
- the invention relates to a support for a lying or sitting person, consisting of a molded body made of permanently elastic material.
- Cushions of this type which serve as mattresses and only form lying surfaces without relieving the intervertebral discs.
- Complaints from deformed or displaced intervertebral discs that press on the nerve tissue are a common cause of back problems. They occur particularly in older people, in whom the intervertebral disc tissue has lost its fluid content and thus its resistance due to daily stress. The high pressures on the spine are usually not even lifted when lying down, since most people with spinal disc damage do not use a suitable lying surface.
- the invention has for its object to provide a support of the type mentioned, which with a simple and inexpensive construction, a convenient storage for relieving the intervertebral discs or stretching other body tissue over a long period of time, e.g. during the night rest period.
- the molded body is provided on its support side with ribs or knobs, at least some of which is oblique to the longitudinal axis of the support.
- the ribs or knobs stretch the body area of the person lying on it, in particular the spine, in the longitudinal direction and relieve it.
- the production of the pad is easy because it can be made from one piece using a mold.
- a further development of the invention consists in that when training as a lounger with a person lying on it, the ribs or knobs in the buttock area point obliquely in the direction of the leg area, in the lumbar vertebra area run approximately perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the support and in the back area point to the head.
- the inclined and differently oriented ribs or knobs bring about an even transmission of force to the support parts of the body.
- Each support point is elastically movable and thus causes a force transmission to the body, which is dependent on the size of the contact force and the rib or nub angle.
- the area of the ribs or nubs, which is assigned to the lumbar region, can be slightly raised.
- a person lies down on the pad or performs lateral rolling movements while lying on it, as can be the case, for example, with back exercises or even while sleeping, then they are correct Ribs or nubs when relieved to their steeper starting angle. When loaded, they begin to exert a force in the desired longitudinal direction. Due to the laying on the support or due to arbitrary or involuntary movements, a tensile force arises, especially on the spine. The power is transmitted from the ribs or knobs to the skin and via the connective tissue to the muscles and vertebrae. There is a shift in connective tissue. This also creates a light connective tissue massage.
- the ribs or knobs of a person sitting on it can point upwards from the lumbar region towards the head.
- This version is particularly suitable as a car seat.
- the ribs or knobs act as a support in this training, so that the weight of the upper body is not transferred to the buttocks, but evenly over the back to the seat.
- the pressure on the backrest can be increased when it is supported against the steering wheel, and the spine can be further relieved via the ribs or knobs. The further the backrest is brought into the lying position, the more the spine is stretched.
- the support can be designed as an interchangeable insert in the main lying area of a bed mattress.
- molded body 1 made of permanently elastic foam, for example foam rubber, which is provided with ribs 2, which are partially oblique to the longitudinal axis 3 of the support.
- knobs 5 form rows of knobs. Each row of knobs forms an angle with the longitudinal axis 6. This angle is part of the Stud rows not equal to 90 °, so that part of the stud rows is inclined to the longitudinal axis 6.
- the ribs 2 or knobs 5 are shown fully extended in the unloaded starting position.
- the position of the ribs 2 or knobs 5 resulting from the body weight is shown in dashed lines.
- the body weight acts in the direction of the arrows shown in FIG. 3.
- the angle is drawn by which these ribs or rows of knobs are deflected out of their starting position by the body weight.
- FIG. 4 shows a person lying on the support 1, 4, who generates a tensile force acting on the spine in the direction of the arrows in FIG. 4 with the aid of the ribs or knobs 2, 5 due to his own weight. This tensile force is further increased by a wedge-shaped cushion 7 as a base in the cervical vertebra area.
- the tensile force acting on the spine is formed by the fact that when the support is designed as a bed for a person lying on it, the ribs or knobs 2, 5 in the buttock area point obliquely towards the leg area, in the lumbar region 8 run approximately perpendicular to the longitudinal axis) of the support and point upside down in the back area.
- FIG. 5 shows a bed mattress 8 which has a support 1 according to FIG. 1 or 4 according to FIG. 2 as an exchangeable insert in the main lying area.
- the pad can be exchanged for a flat pad 9.
- the ribs or knobs 10 in a person sitting on the seat and leaning against the backrest 11 point upwards from the lumbar region towards the head, that is to say they are inclined to the longitudinal axis 13 in that shown in FIG. 6 Position in which the backrest 11 is slightly inclined backwards, relieves the intervertebral discs when leaning against the steering wheel 12 and especially when bracing.
- the effect of the ribs or knobs 10 is similar to that of the ribs or knobs 2, 5 in the supports according to FIGS. 1 and 2.
- the tensile force is from the ribs or knobs 10, the counterforce however, taken from the support on the buttocks and from the thighs.
- angular levers are created which bring about the transmission of a tensile force to the body of the person lying or sitting, provided that they are loaded by the body. Due to the inclined ribs or knobs pointing headward and footward in the examples according to FIGS. 1 to 4, the tensile force is divided at the apex, which lies in the region of the lumbar vertebrae. 1 to 4 is especially suitable for domestic use because it can be used by the user at any time without adjustment work.
- the support is preferably made somewhat wider than the body of the person lying on it and, for example, 8 cm high. This means that no large space is required.
- the mattress shown in Fig. 5 can be covered with an elastic fitted sheet.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a support for a lying or sitting person, consisting of a molded body made of permanently elastic material.
Cushions of this type are known which serve as mattresses and only form lying surfaces without relieving the intervertebral discs. Complaints from deformed or displaced intervertebral discs that press on the nerve tissue are a common cause of back problems. They occur particularly in older people, in whom the intervertebral disc tissue has lost its fluid content and thus its resistance due to daily stress. The high pressures on the spine are usually not even lifted when lying down, since most people with spinal disc damage do not use a suitable lying surface.
It is known that the intervertebral discs, when relieved, namely by pulling apart the spine, are able to absorb fluid again. Therefore, stretching and pulling devices to relieve the spine have already been proposed (DE-AS 20 15 440 and 26 46 306). However, the known stretching and pulling devices are very complex and make it necessary for the person to be seated under the action of high tensile forces or to keep their position exactly. Therefore, a person who is stretched and stretched on the known pads feels uncomfortable.
The invention has for its object to provide a support of the type mentioned, which with a simple and inexpensive construction, a convenient storage for relieving the intervertebral discs or stretching other body tissue over a long period of time, e.g. during the night rest period.
This object is achieved in that the molded body is provided on its support side with ribs or knobs, at least some of which is oblique to the longitudinal axis of the support. The ribs or knobs stretch the body area of the person lying on it, in particular the spine, in the longitudinal direction and relieve it. The production of the pad is easy because it can be made from one piece using a mold.
A further development of the invention consists in that when training as a lounger with a person lying on it, the ribs or knobs in the buttock area point obliquely in the direction of the leg area, in the lumbar vertebra area run approximately perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the support and in the back area point to the head. In this development, the inclined and differently oriented ribs or knobs bring about an even transmission of force to the support parts of the body. Each support point is elastically movable and thus causes a force transmission to the body, which is dependent on the size of the contact force and the rib or nub angle. The area of the ribs or nubs, which is assigned to the lumbar region, can be slightly raised. If a person lies down on the pad or performs lateral rolling movements while lying on it, as can be the case, for example, with back exercises or even while sleeping, then they are correct Ribs or nubs when relieved to their steeper starting angle.
In order to improve the transmission of force in the neck region, it is expedient to provide a wedge-shaped cushion for supporting the cervical vertebrae.
When the support is designed as a backrest of a seat, the ribs or knobs of a person sitting on it can point upwards from the lumbar region towards the head. This version is particularly suitable as a car seat. The ribs or knobs act as a support in this training, so that the weight of the upper body is not transferred to the buttocks, but evenly over the back to the seat. If this design is used as a car seat, the pressure on the backrest can be increased when it is supported against the steering wheel, and the spine can be further relieved via the ribs or knobs. The further the backrest is brought into the lying position, the more the spine is stretched.
According to another embodiment of the invention, the support can be designed as an interchangeable insert in the main lying area of a bed mattress.
It may be appropriate to provide the pad with an elastic cover.
The invention is explained in more detail below with the aid of a few exemplary embodiments illustrated in the drawings.

When forming a support provided with ribs or knobs as the backrest of a seat according to Fig. 6, e.g. of a car seat, the ribs or
In the lying position of the seat shown in FIG. 7, the effect of the ribs or
It is essential for the invention that, due to one's own body weight on the ribs or knobs of the in particular one-piece support, angular levers are created which bring about the transmission of a tensile force to the body of the person lying or sitting, provided that they are loaded by the body. The support is preferably made somewhat wider than the body of the person lying on it and, for example, 8 cm high. This means that no large space is required.
The mattress shown in Fig. 5 can be covered with an elastic fitted sheet.
