Definitions
- the invention relates to a swimming board arrangement for a windsurfing device according to the preamble of claim 1, and to a bridge unit particularly suitable for use with such a swimming board arrangement.
- the sail mast is provided with a joint at its lower end and secured in position by means of appropriate holding means on the top of the swimming board, so that the user standing on the swimming board can pivot the mast in all directions.
- the sail is designed as a triangular sail and is held at a distance with its outer corner against the mast by a handle bar, on which the user can grip the sail arrangement, which is generally referred to as a rig, and align it in any desired angular position both to the wind and to the swimming board or board.
- a handle bar on which the user can grip the sail arrangement, which is generally referred to as a rig, and align it in any desired angular position both to the wind and to the swimming board or board.
- To stabilize the swimming boards can be provided with a fin or a sword, which is stored in a sword box.
- Known surfing devices of this type reach relatively high speeds even at moderate wind speeds and can be controlled by an experienced user by simply changing the position of the rig.
- they have the great advantage that the rig, which can be easily removed from the swimming board, as well the swimming board can be transported even without its own trailer with conventional motor vehicles, whereby the only about 70 cm wide swimming board with a total volume of 200 liters or less can be attached to a roof rack of the car;
- This convenient means of transport has made a significant contribution to the widespread use of windsurfing, since the surfing device can be transported to any body of water without great effort and then taken away again.
- the surfing device can not ride on the swimming board.
- the surfing device relies exclusively on wind propulsion, since on the one hand it is hardly possible to install a motor, on the other hand it would make the driving behavior completely unpredictable and finally the force of the wind acting on the sail is necessary to give the user support in his upright position.
- the sailing mast is to be used as a paddle.
- the invention has for its object to expand the range of use of such a known surfing device very significantly in the sense that usage possibilities are developed similar to a sailboat.
- Last but not least, physically less productive or clumsy people benefit from the fact that a teacher can ride on the significantly enlarged footprint of the bridge and thus impart the technology directly, so that the training times in surf schools are considerably reduced and the training success is more secure.
- objects can of course also be taken, not only paddles that can be attached in the area of the bridge, which can be used to move around in the absence of wind without the user coming into contact with water, but also other objects, whether for transporting them or not it to carry them with you for use.
- fishing gear can be taken along, and the rig can be knocked off at any point on the water surface and the swimming board arrangement can practically be used as a raft.
- the bridge provides an ideal support for a correspondingly large sword, which can be attached to the rear edge of the bridge, for example, so that it protrudes.
- the bridge can also serve as a support for a conventional motor support, referred to as a mirror, so that the operational capability of the swimming board arrangement is ensured even when there is no wind or without the aid of the sail.
- the surf device illustrated overall in FIG. 1 has a conventional rig 1 and a swimming board arrangement 2 according to the invention, on which the user designated by 3 stands in the illustrated manner and grips the rig on a guide rod 4 which grips the free end 5 of a triangular sail 6 of the rig 1 spreads from the mast 7.
- the mast 7 is provided on its underside in a manner known per se with a universal joint 8, the fixed part of which is mounted on the swimming board arrangement 2 by a suitable holding means.
- two holding means 9 can be seen, which are designed in the usual form as holes, into which, depending on the windward or leewardness, the fastening pin of the universal joint g can be inserted, so that the rig 1 in the direction of travel according to arrow 10 by the distance of hole-shaped holding means 9 can be arranged offset from one another.
- the holding means 9 are not arranged on the top of an individual swimming board, but on a bridge 11 which rigidly connects two swimming boards 12 arranged parallel to one another. In the manner indicated in FIG.
- the bridge 11 has a tubular skeleton 13, which in the example consists of four cross members 14, a central longitudinal belt 15 and two lateral longitudinal belts 16, which are on the top of the two swimming boards 12 and together with the outer cross members 14 form the circumferential edge of the bridge 11, which is approximately rectangular or square in plan view.
- the cross members 14 are arched in such a way that the bridge spans the gap area between the swimming boards in a slightly upward curvature.
- the cross members 14 and the longitudinal belts 15 and 16 are formed in the manner shown in FIG. 5 as rectangular profiles and welded together, for example, so that there is a one-piece supporting tubular skeleton 13.
- the tubular skeleton 13 is, as can also be seen in particular from FIG.
- a flat cover 19 which bridges the spaces between the cross members 14 and longitudinal belts 15 and 16 and, for example, from a plywood sheet or plywood layer of sufficient thickness, for example with a thickness of 6 mm.
- the outside of the cover 19 can be provided with a non-slip surface layer 20, for example a non-slip rubber, which is glued onto the cover 19. This gives the bridge 1 1 a trouble-free and in particular non-slip surface.
- anchor rails 21 and 22 For rigid attachment of the bridge 11 in the area of the surface 17 to the two swimming boards 12, which can consist, for example, of glass fiber reinforced polyester or a similar plastic, such as Known per se, these are provided with two anchor rails 21 and 22 running parallel to the lateral longitudinal belts 16.
- the anchor rails 21 and 22 can be glued to the outer skin forming the surface 17 of each floating board 12 in the course of its manufacture and then laminated in the manner indicated by dash-dotted lines at 23, so that they are securely held in the upper region of the floating board 12.
- the anchor rails 21 and 22 serve to anchor screws 24 and 25 which clamp the bottom of the longitudinal belts 16 and additional support belts 26 against the surface 17 at suitable intervals.
- the profiles can be provided in the manner indicated with openings 27 on their top and bottom sides, the opening 27 in the top of the profile also allowing the head of the screws 24 to pass through on the other hand, only the passage of the shaft of the screws 24 is permitted.
- the width of the entire swimming board arrangement 2 can thus be limited to a value which permits transport on roof racks of cars, so that these advantages of conventional surfboards are also fully retained.
- a comparatively short length of the bridge, measured in the direction of travel according to arrow 10, should be aimed at, both from the point of view of simpler transport and of the manufacturing outlay.
- a larger length of the bridge increases the available stand or storage area and results in better torsional rigidity. It has been shown that a length of the bridge approximately in the order of its width, ie in the range of approximately 1 m, is optimal, the length of the bridge measured in the direction of travel according to arrow 10 being less than a third of the length of the swimming boards 12.
- swimming boards 12 that are completely identical to one another use, even if this is from manufacturing. Reasons is appropriate. Good driving properties result in any case if the swimming boards 12 are at least symmetrical, ie mirror-image, to their common center line in the gap region bridged by the bridge 11, so that perfect straight-ahead driving properties and undisturbed steering options result.
- the bridge 11 offers an area for a wide variety of uses.
- a bearing means 28 can also be provided for a seat, for example in the form of a hole extending through the longitudinal belt 15, so that, if necessary, in light winds can also be driven while sitting or can be carried out with the rig 11 off any sedentary activity such as fishing without the user 3 coming into contact with water.
- holding means for paddles or the like can be provided in the area of the bridge 11, with which, if necessary, the swimming board arrangement 2 can be moved.
- a correspondingly solid longitudinal belt 15 can also be extended to form a sword holder 29 projecting on the rear edge of the bridge 11 in the direction of travel according to arrow 10, or the sword holder 29 is fastened, for example welded, to the rear side of the adjacent cross member 14.
- the sword holder 29 can be easily provided with a central passage slot for the sword designated 30 and its base 31, such that a support head 3 2 , which is wider than the slot in the sword holder 29, rests on the upper edges of the slot.
- a storage of the sword 30 in Sword holder 29 take place magnetically, for example, in such a way that permanent magnets 33 are embedded in the upper edges of the slot in the sword holder 29 and / or on the underside of the support head 32, and of course the part not carrying the permanent magnets 33 can also be made of magnetizable material.
- the sword 30 can dodge upward when overcoming an obstacle at the bottom of the water while overcoming the magnetic holding forces and immediately falling again into the magnetic holder snaps into place.
- the bridge 11 is also suitable for mounting an outboard motor 34 of the usual type indicated in dashed lines in FIG. 3.
- an opening in the steel support forming the sword holder 29 is provided as a bearing means 35 in the example at the rear end of the sword holder 29, into which a conventional so-called mirror 36 can be inserted, on which in turn the commercially available outboard motor 34 can be mounted. It is obvious that the possibilities of using the surfing device increase even further with the possibility of a motor drive.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a swimming board arrangement for a windsurfing device according to the preamble of claim 1, and to a bridge unit particularly suitable for use with such a swimming board arrangement.
It has long been known to practice so-called surfing on wave boards, with which the slope on the front side of large waves is used to "ride" from the open sea towards the beach at the front side of the wave. Such wave boards offer an upper footprint and are flat and aerodynamically designed so that they can slide on the water surface with the least possible flow resistance.
For more than 10 years, there has been a move to provide such floating boards with a flexibly articulated sail in order to maintain the driving force for sliding the floating boards on the water surface from wind movements even in calm waters. With this So-called windsurfing, the sail mast is provided with a joint at its lower end and secured in position by means of appropriate holding means on the top of the swimming board, so that the user standing on the swimming board can pivot the mast in all directions. The sail is designed as a triangular sail and is held at a distance with its outer corner against the mast by a handle bar, on which the user can grip the sail arrangement, which is generally referred to as a rig, and align it in any desired angular position both to the wind and to the swimming board or board. To stabilize the swimming boards can be provided with a fin or a sword, which is stored in a sword box.
In contrast to sailing boats, however, no rudder is provided to determine the direction of travel. While in sailboats the wind forces from: Sails are directly transmitted to the hull via a rigidly attached mast, the direction of which can be determined by a rudder, i.e. by setting the direction of attack of the water resistance, the directional adjustment is effected on a surfing device by a corresponding inclination of the mast, such that the resultant of the wind forces acting on the sail in the so-called center of gravity of the sail and the resultant of the water forces acting on the swimming board do not lie vertically one above the other, but form a pair of forces with a lever arm in their projection onto the water surface, the torque of which is available for the desired changes in direction.
Known surfing devices of this type reach relatively high speeds even at moderate wind speeds and can be controlled by an experienced user by simply changing the position of the rig. Compared to sailing boats, they have the great advantage that the rig, which can be easily removed from the swimming board, as well the swimming board can be transported even without its own trailer with conventional motor vehicles, whereby the only about 70 cm wide swimming board with a total volume of 200 liters or less can be attached to a roof rack of the car; This convenient means of transport has made a significant contribution to the widespread use of windsurfing, since the surfing device can be transported to any body of water without great effort and then taken away again.
However, the possible uses of such surfing devices are limited because they are used only for fast gliding on the water and can only be operated and controlled properly by very experienced users. Use by inexperienced, older or physically incomplete people is almost impossible, since every slightest misalignment of the rig brings the device out of balance, so that the user falls into the water and the mast tips over, since this is only articulated on the top the floating board is arranged. Likewise, even slight changes in the user's center of gravity must be done very carefully, otherwise the relatively narrow swimming board will tip over, causing the device to get out of control and the user falling into the water. Especially because of the strong tilting movements of the swimming board, practically no transport of any loads or carrying any objects can take place. Likewise, it is not possible to stay in a certain position in the water in a comfortable position, since the user, for example, when he is not swimming in the water
legs hanging on both sides of the water on the surfboard. In view of the skills that are required to properly operate such a surfing device on the water, it is all the more important that a surf instructor, if no tandem surfing
Finally, the surfing device relies exclusively on wind propulsion, since on the one hand it is hardly possible to install a motor, on the other hand it would make the driving behavior completely unpredictable and finally the force of the wind acting on the sail is necessary to give the user support in his upright position. When there is no wind, there is no other option for the user than to swim to the shore with or without a surfing device, unless the sailing mast is to be used as a paddle. In contrast, the invention has for its object to expand the range of use of such a known surfing device very significantly in the sense that usage possibilities are developed similar to a sailboat.
This object is achieved by the characterizing features of claim 1.
The fact that two swimming boards are connected to a bridge so as to form a rigid swimming board arrangement increases the stand area available to the user many times over, so that a more secure stand is ensured. In addition, the enlarged footprint is practically tilt-proof and overall stable, so that the rig can be operated and adjusted almost like from a footprint on the shore. This means that only the movements of the rig under the influence of the wind force have to be taken into account and, compared to conventional single-board surfboards, there is no need to keep the footprint in balance at the same time. This makes the exercise of this sport much easier and even older and physically less capable people can practice this sport, and there is also the advantage for experienced surfers that significantly reduced dwell times on the water can be achieved through reduced effort. Last but not least, physically less productive or clumsy people benefit from the fact that a teacher can ride on the significantly enlarged footprint of the bridge and thus impart the technology directly, so that the training times in surf schools are considerably reduced and the training success is more secure. Just like a teacher, objects can of course also be taken, not only paddles that can be attached in the area of the bridge, which can be used to move around in the absence of wind without the user coming into contact with water, but also other objects, whether for transporting them or not it to carry them with you for use. For example, fishing gear can be taken along, and the rig can be knocked off at any point on the water surface and the swimming board arrangement can practically be used as a raft. If storage means are provided for a seat on the bridge, a surfing angler can indulge in angling anywhere in the water while sitting. Finally, the bridge provides an ideal support for a correspondingly large sword, which can be attached to the rear edge of the bridge, for example, so that it protrudes. The bridge can also serve as a support for a conventional motor support, referred to as a mirror, so that the operational capability of the swimming board arrangement is ensured even when there is no wind or without the aid of the sail.
In sailing boats it is already known to provide two identical hulls lying parallel to one another instead of a single hull, so that a so-called catamaran results. Such a catamaran is, however, a pure sailing boat with rudder control and is therefore not comparable to a surfing device. The double boat out Education is used to drive the boat so hard on the wind when the wind is strong that one of the hulls is lifted out of the water as much as possible, which on the one hand reduces the friction surface in the water and on the other hand creates an additional restoring torque against wind power, so that the catamaran can be sailed harder on the wind than other sailboats and is therefore faster. Of course, such a driving style presupposes the fixed mast typical of sailboats and would be unthinkable for a surfing device with a mast that is articulated and held upright by the user; In this respect, the corresponding measure of a double arrangement of the floating bodies serves on the contrary to avoid an inclined position of the floating bodies and to achieve the further advantages explained, which are only possible as in conventional sailing boats with a hull.
Further details, features and advantages of the invention result from the following description of an embodiment with reference to the drawing.

The surf device illustrated overall in FIG. 1 has a conventional rig 1 and a swimming board arrangement 2 according to the invention, on which the user designated by 3 stands in the illustrated manner and grips the rig on a guide rod 4 which grips the
From Fig. 2, two
For rigid attachment of the
In this way, a good and torsionally rigid attachment of the bridge to the two swimming boards is achieved, the
As particularly illustrated in FIGS. 1 and 2, the
A correspondingly solid
The
