Abstract

The present invention relates to a small boat of the "catamaran" type. This boat is characterised in that it differs in shape from existing catamarans. In fact, the hulls have a very wide, fairly flat shape, with a slight "V", which allows a large bearing surface for a small length. As it is shown, it comprises two hulls 1 of very wide and fairly flat shape, held together by two beams 2 fixed to each hull by bolts 3. Between the hulls is arranged a trampoline 4 stretched by lacing onto the beams. On each hull is placed a mast 5 pivoting in a socket. Steering is provided by a coupling bar 6 linking the two rudders 7. Each hull is equipped with a pivoting centre board housed in a socket 8. The two sail sheets are brought back to the helmsman via two return pulleys 9. Its simple design, its small size and its original characteristics make it a transportable sailing vessel which adds stability and safety to the specific performance aspects of catamarans and put it within reach of all.

Description

CATA.vzRAN DE PETITE TAILLE
SMALL SIZE CATA.vz
The present invention relates to a small catamaran type boat. It differs from existing ones by the creation of a small catamaran requiring new hull shapes and original rigging.

This invention has the advantage, due to its size, of being as easily transportable as a windsurfing board, and offers a stability and a recovery capacity clearly superior to that of an ordinary catamaran.

This small catamaran is made up of two hulls with a very wide and fairly flat shape, with a slight "V" in its front part, which allows a large bearing surface for a small size.

The hulls are fully closed and connected to each other by two removable metal beams.

the device which is the subject of the invention, comprises, in addition to the shape of the shells:
-A trampoline located between the hulls; and kept in tension by the beams.

-A "dipod" rig, consisting of a removable mast on each hull.

Figure I: Vue en plan
Figure 2: Vue de profil
I1 is given by way of nonlimiting example, an embodiment referring to the attached drawings:
Figure I: Plan view
Figure 2: Profile view
Figure I shows a plan view of the assembly which includes the two hulls (I) of very wide and fairly flat shape, held together by two beams (2) front and rear, fixed to each hull by bolting (3) . Between the shells is placed a trampoline (4) in plasticized canvas, kept in tension between the beams by lacing.

On each hull is fixed a mat (5) which can pivot in a sealed well.

The direction of the boat is ensured by a rigid coupling bar (6) making the two rudders (7) integral.

Each hull is furthermore provided with a pivoting fin housed in a well (8).

The two sail sheets are returned to the coxswain, using two pulleys (9).

Figure 2 shows a side view which distinguishes the shape and location of the two sail planes (I) and the two pivoting fins (2).

Simple in design, since this small catamaran can be made of synthetic and molded material, it is easy to transport, since it can be dismantled.

In addition, this catamaran has been designed to provide great stability with its original shapes. The width of its hulls offers resistance to submersion and on the contrary allows them to hover on the surface of the water, in the same conditions as a windsurfing board.

The choice of a "bipod" rig is justified for two reasons:
It allows a better distribution of the sail surface by requiring a lower mast height. The sail center is thus lowered and therefore reduces the capsizing torque.

In the event of a capsize, it is stopped in a vertical position by the waterproof mast and a slight push in the mast type is enough to straighten the catamaran.

This type of catamaran therefore presents itself as a new craft adding increased stability and safety to the specific performance of this category of sailing boats.
