Abstract

Un proceso para lixiviar menas de laterita que contienen limonita y saprolita en un proceso,en dos etapas. La primgra etapa consiste en mezclar y hacer reaccionar la mena con acido mineral concentrado, y la segunda etapa consiste en preparar una mezcla pastosa de la mezcla de acido/mena en aqua y lixiviar la mezcla para disolver el niquel y el cobalto. -El hierro es separado de manera eficiente del niquel y el cobalto en el residuo de lixiviación sólido, principalmente como un óxido o hidróxido de hierro ferrico diferente a la jarosita.
