The invention relates to overlock sewing machines with feed bowls
and especially on those machines that are used to sew in a garnish thread or
a cord in the overlock seam on an item of clothing, such as a stocking,
to serve. Such threads or cords are generally fed in through gimp guides
on fabric pressers or stitch plates, i.e. on parts that are quite big enough
are sized to accommodate an additional guide for a gimp thread. With overlock sewing machines,
in which such parts are missing, such as those with feed boilers, one has
already tried by the arrangement of funnel-shaped leads on the stitch-forming tongues threads
These relatively large funnels are very annoying to use
the sewing tools, obstruct the view while sewing and are also unsightly.
According to the invention, all these disadvantages are avoided, and the
The stitch-forming tongue itself is used as a feed for the cord. Here, however, is
Please note that the stitch formation tongues, especially with feed tank sewing machines,
very small, and due to their intended use, very sensitive and fragile
are. For this reason they are not specifically intended, nor as guides for
a cord or the like to serve. Nevertheless, according to the invention it has become possible
train the stitch-forming tongue itself to guide a cord by the clamping base
the tongue is somewhat reinforced and through this a hole for guiding the cord
to be led. This execution fulfills its purpose in an excellent way, she
is inconspicuous, does not interfere with the operation of the machine in any way, and is also a hindrance
does not have a view of the sewing point and is cheaper to manufacture than any other
Solutions. The additional thread or the like is in the immediate vicinity of the stitch formation point
led into the overlock seam that is being formed and thereby receives its precise
Position in relation to the garment.
The drawing shows the invention in an exemplary application
an overlock sewing machine with feed bowls; however, the invention is also
Can also be used with all other overlock sewing machines.
Fig. I shows a plan view of the stitch formation point in an overlock sewing machine
with feed boilers; in Fig. 2 is a graphical representation of the course of the
Shelf thread shown through the channel in the stitch formation tongue to the edge of the sewing material.
All machine parts not necessary to explain the invention
have been omitted from the drawing.
In Transportrichtung gesehen
The in a known manner in the machine housing i of the sewing machine horizontally
guided needle 2 works together with the gripper 3 for the purpose of forming an overlock seam.
The two feed bowls 4 and 5 are used to transport the sewing material
6 is attached directly to the sewing machine housing i by a holder 7, can
but also learn any other appropriate attachment. Seen in the direction of transport
The usual decurler 8 is arranged in front of the feed boilers 4 and 5. For guidance
the cord or the shim thread is used by the channel shown in dash-dotted lines
9 in the stitch-forming tongue 6, which extends obliquely from the back of the tongue body
extends upwards and just before the actual stitch formation point on the top
the stitch-forming tongue opens, precisely in the direction of transport. The filament
io or the cord to be sewn in comes precisely to the center of the
Edge of the sewing material i i, as can be seen from FIG. 2.
