The invention relates to a hand-held device for cleaning cooking and dining utensils as well as glasses and bottles and similar containers with a cleaning part and a handle with a hollow cylindrical shape, whereby the cleaning part is assigned a liquid container with a detergent, the outlet of which from the container takes place in the area of the cleaning part.

Hand-held devices for cleaning containers of the type mentioned above are already known in various designs. What they all have in common is that they have a handle and a cleaning part attached to one end of it.

This arrangement can either be a container attached to the handle with a liquid cleaning agent, which is fed into the area of the brush via a thin hose, or the handle itself can be designed as a liquid container, dispensing cleaning liquid into the brush area at the end of the handle. With all of these arrangements, however, it is necessary to ensure that the liquid supply to the cleaning device is shut off in order to prevent liquid from escaping when the hand-held device is in an inclined or vertical position. In conventional cleaning devices, either a valve-like device is used for this purpose, through which the outlet opening is automatically blocked by the liquid pressure when the cleaning device is not in use, or the cleaning liquid is fed to the cleaning part via a thin hose, with a shut-off valve assigned to this hose. However, this necessary additional expenditure on materials and production costs does not allow for a rational, cheap production of the hand-held device, which is intended as a mass-produced item. In addition, the precise dosage of the cleaning agent is not guaranteed by the cleaning part itself, since the brush, as a cleaning part, is inevitably always supplied with more cleaning agent than is actually needed for cleaning.

This excess cleaning agent now enters the sewer system unused as waste water and thus represents a significant additional burden on the environment with chemical substances. Apart from that, a brush is not ideal as a cleaning tool either, as it is very difficult to remove burnt and/or stuck food residues, particularly in the area around the pot and in the transition from the bottom of the pot to the side wall.

The object of the invention is a hand-held device for cleaning containers of the type mentioned at the beginning, with which it is possible to take up liquid detergent only after the cleaning part has been dispensed as required, and whereby the detergent is essentially only dispensed to the object to be cleaned during the cleaning process, without the need for arrangements to shut off the flow of detergent to the cleaning part. In addition, the cleaning part itself should be designed in such a way that it is able to effortlessly remove adhering and/or burnt-in food residues and the like from all exposed corner areas.

Cleaning part is made possible by the fact that it has a hollow - cylinder-shaped handle as a liquid container, which is provided with a detachable and removable closure or a closure cap on its side facing away from the cleaning part and the cleaning part consists of a flexible hard foam sponge with a prism-shaped polygonal cross-section, e.g. in the shape of a square, which is provided with an axially running cut along about 4/5 of its length, with which it is pushed axially onto the handle at the lower free end of the handle, provided with adhesive along the length of this cut, in the length of the cut in the cleaning part and thus firmly glued to it, whereby when pushing in the handle, so much hard foam sponge material is pushed into the lower open end of the handle until the outflow opening for the cleaning agent is almost sealed and thus Ie- 1

the sponge is finally wetted by the detergent, at the lower end of the handle, without the detergent running out.

When in use, the hand cleaning device is immediately activated by the rinsing water at any time.

For practical purposes, the lower front edge of the open end of the handle is bevelled so that hard foam sponge parts can be pushed together with the handle from the sharp lower front edge of the cleaning part.

Figure 1 shows a hand-held device 1 for cleaning cooking and dining utensils, as well as glasses and bottles and similar containers with a hollow cylindrical handle 2 as a container for a cleaning liquid 3», which is closed off with a detachable sole cap 6 on its opposite end 5 carrying a cleaning part 4. The cleaning part 4 is made of a flexible hard foam sponge (Tuba sponge - registered trademark -) and is shaped like a prism, preferably square, and has an elongated notch 8 on its end 7 facing the handle , which extends axially over approximately 4/5 of its length.

axial incision in the cleaning; provided with adhesive, which parts are pushed together so that a firm, inseparable adhesive connection is created. When the cleaning part 4 is pushed together axially with the handle 2, the lower open end 9 of the handle is pressed into the hard foam sponge, so that the interior of the tubular handle is largely sealed and can only communicate very little with the outside air and so only a constant wetting of the sponge 4 at the lower end 9 of the handle is ensured without the cleaning agent running out. In this way, when the hand-held device is operated in the washing water, the detergent is rinsed out of the hard foam sponge, so that the sponge can be quickly activated at any time.

Advantageously, the lower front edge 10 of the lower open end 9 of the handle is bevelled or sharpened in the form of a cutting edge, so that hard foam sponge parts can be cut out in the form of a plug 11 when the cleaning part 4 is pushed together with the handle by its sharp lower front edge 10, which can be pushed into the interior of the handle. In this case, the plug 11 is only cut out so far that it still remains integrally connected to a base layer 12 of the hard foam material.

It is also conceivable that instead of the axial incision 8, the handle with its lower sharpened front edge 10 is simply pushed axially into the cleaning part and adhesive is subsequently injected between the outer wall 14 of the handle and the surrounding wall parts 13 of the hard foam sponge, whereby in this case the punched-out plug rises into the interior of the handle in the same way.

The cleaning agent is introduced into the hollow-cylindrical handle by removing the upper cap and, since the lower end 9 of the handle is largely closed by the plug 11, it remains in the hollow-cylindrical handle. By axial pressure movements of the handle from above, the plug, which closes off the handle from below, is subjected to the cleaning liquid 3 in such a way that it releases it outwards into the cleaning part surrounding it, i.e. the hard foam sponge. This is ultimately due to the fact that the flexible hard foam base layer 12, which closes off the handset at the bottom and is integrally connected to the plug, creates a pumping effect through the plug in the hollow-cylindrical handle due to the axial movements.
