Kohlenwasserstoffrcst bedeutet.Process for the preparation of aromatic aldehyde disulfimides Es
it was found that valuable aromatic aldehyde disulfimides can be obtained,
when using aryl disulfimides which contain methyl groups in the aryl radical, the oxidation
subjects and optionally sets the aldehyde group formed in freedom. the
aromatic aldehyde disulfimides correspond to the general formula (H O C), = aryl-S

(4'-chlorbenzolsulfonyl) -amid, 4-Methylbenzol - i - sulfonsäure - (3 ', 4'- dichlorbenzolsulfonyl)
-amid, 4-Methylbenzol-i-sulfonsäure-(4'-methylbenzolsulfonyl)-amid, 2-Methylbenzol-i-sulfonsäure-(4'-methylbernzolsulfonyl)-amid,
3-Methylbenzol-i-sulfonsäure-(3'-methylbenzolsulfonyl)-amid, 4-Methylbenzoli-sulfonsäure-(naphthalin-i'-sulfonyl)-amid,

- (chlormethansulfonyl) - amid,
2-Methylbenzol-i-sulfonsäure-(diphenylsulfonyl)-amid,
Bis- (4-methylbenzol-i-sulfonsäure) - (phenylen-i', 3'-disulfonyl) -amid u. dgl.
in Betracht.
The aromatic aldehyde disulfimides are valuable intermediates
for the formation of organic compounds, for example for the production of
Dyes or moth repellants. As starting materials for this process
for example 4-, 3- or 2-methylbenzene-i-sulfonic acid (benzenesulfonyl)
-amid, 2, 4-dimethylbenzenesulfonic acid- (benzenesulfonyl) -amid, 4-methylbenzenesulfonic acid-

Bis (4-methylbenzene-i-sulfonic acid) - (phenylene-i ', 3'-disulfonyl) -amide and the like.
into consideration. The aryl radicals can also have nitro groups or as further substituents
contain etherified hydroxyl groups.
B. in schwach saurer Lösung.
Als Oxydationsmittel kommen z. B. Arylsulfonsäuren-N-dichloramide, z. B. Benzolsulfonsäuredichloramid,
in Betracht.
anwenden. In the aforementioned starting materials, the methyl groups are oxidized
to the aldehyde group by methods known per se, e.g. B. in weakly acidic solution.
As an oxidizing agent, for. B. Arylsulfonsäuren-N-dichloramides, z. B. Benzenesulfonic acid dichloramide,
into consideration. It works in the presence of alkali salts of low molecular weight
organic carboxylic acids such as sodium formate; Sodium acetate, sodium lactate, etc.,
during the reaction by the hydrochloric acid formed the corresponding acids
be set free. Chromic acid is also suitable as an oxidizing agent, with
one expediently the oxidation in the presence of acetic anhydride and sulfuric acid
undertakes. Also chromyl chloride, manganese dioxide and sulfuric acid (in the presence or absence
of copper or nickel sulphate), cerium dioxide and sulfuric acid, manganese peroxide sulphate
can be used as an oxidizing agent. Furthermore, the oxidation of the methyl groups
also with the help of sodium hypochlorite under pressure in the presence of iron compounds
carry out. Mari can also use electrolytic oxidation or catalytic oxidation
Oxidation in the presence of gases containing oxygen and in the presence of heavy metal oxides
use.
When oxidizing with chromic acid and sulfuric acid in the presence of
Acetic anhydride, the aldehydes are obtained in the form of their diacetates, from which
they are obtained by saponification. The methods for working up the obtained
Products are the usual.
gelbe, kristalline Phenylhydrazon des 4-Aldehydobenzol- i - sulfonsäure - (benzolsulfonyl)
- amidphenylhydrazinsalzes wurde aus wenig Alkohol umkristallisiert. Schmelzpunkt
= Zio bis 2r2°.Given the special character of the starting materials, it was not easy to foresee whether the oxidation would proceed in the sense described. In particular, it was found that the disulfimide group can be hydrolytically cleaved relatively easily in an acidic medium. Examples 1. 35 parts by weight of 4-methylbenzene-i-sulfonic acid (benzenesulfonyl) amide potassium of the formula 25 parts by weight of benzenesulfonic acid-N-dichloramide and 20 parts by weight of sodium acetate are boiled in 55o parts by volume of water for 5 hours on a reflux condenser with stirring, after which all benzenesulfonic acid-N-dichloramide is consumed. 5 parts by weight of benzolsulfonic acid-N-dichloramide and 10 parts by weight of sodium acetate are added, and the mixture is boiled for a further 8 hours. After cooling, the benzene sulfamide which has precipitated out is filtered off with suction. The 4-aldehydobenzene-i-sulfonic acid (benzenesulfonyl) amide formed from the filtrate has the formula isolable by precipitation with concentrated hydrochloric acid. Sodium acetate and a solution of phenylhydrazine in acetic acid were added to part of the filtrate and the mixture was heated on the steam bath for x1 / 2 hours. The yellow, crystalline phenylhydrazone of the 4-aldehydobenzene-sulfonic acid (benzenesulfonyl) amidphenylhydrazine salt which precipitated after cooling was recrystallized from a little alcohol. Melting point = Zio to 2r2 °.
besitzt den Schmelzpunkt 2g5°.2.7 parts by weight of 4-methylbenzene-i-sulfonic acid (benzenesulfonyl) amide potassium
are concentrated at 0 ° in 40o parts by weight of acetic anhydride and 40 parts by weight
Dissolve sulfuric acid with stirring and add 3o parts by weight of chromic acid
oxidized at o °. Then it is poured out with stirring in 1500 parts by volume of ice water and
filtered. The filtrate is slowly made alkaline with potassium hydroxide solution. After 24 hours
Standing is sucked off by the precipitate, which again from a little water (40o parts by volume)
is recrystallized. The resulting potassium salt of 4-aldehydobenzene-i-sulfonic acid (benzenesulfonyl) amide diacetate
has a melting point of 2g5 °.
hat den Schmelzpunkt x86°.3. 35 parts by weight of 2-methylbenzene-i-sulfonic acid (benzenesulfonyl) amide potassium, 25 parts by weight of benzenesulfonic acid-N-dichloramide and 25 parts by weight of sodium acetate are heated to boiling in 500 parts by volume of water for 8 hours with stirring on a reflux condenser. After adding 5 parts by weight of benzenesulfonic acid-N-dichloramide, heating is continued for a further 5 hours. After cooling, it is filtered, whereupon, as in Example x, the 2-aldehydobenzene-i-sulfonic acid (benzenesulfonyl) amide formed can be separated off from the filtrate by adding concentrated hydrochloric acid. As in Example i, this aldehyde disulfimide can be identified by the formation of the corresponding phenylhydrazone. The phenylhydrazone of the 2-aldehydobenzene-i-sulfonic acid (benzenesulfonyl) amide phenylhydrazine salt has a melting point of x86 °.
