Description
Verfahren zur Herstellung von basischen Diarylaldehyden Nach Yandik und Larsen (J. Am. Chem. O.).Process for the preparation of basic diaryl aldehydes According to Yandik and Larsen (J. Am. Chem. Soc., 73, p.3534), basic diaryl aldehydes of the general formula wherein Ar and Are can be phenyl radicals, optionally substituted phenyl radicals, the alkyl group [C]. a straight (R1 = R2 = H) or branched (R1 = H, R2 = lower alkyl radical or R1 and R2 lower alkyl radical) chain - preferably with 1 to 4 carbon atoms - and the basic substituent X, which is located on one of the alkyl hydrocarbon atoms has [C] n, present as a primary, secondary or tertiary or cyclic amine, obtained by reducing the corresponding "basic nitriles" by means of lithium aluminum hydride. However, these reactions only proceed with yields of about 25% of the corresponding aldehyde. In addition, a pure preparation of aldehyde turns out to be quite difficult, since the boiling points of the starting materials and the reaction products are very close to each other and, moreover, the aldehydes mentioned do not give any derivatives due to strong steric inhibition with the usual aldehyde reagents (cf. loc. Cit.).
The conversion of primary alcohols into aldehydes by oxidation with selenium dioxide or chromium trioxide has been the subject of numerous investigations (Houben-Weyl, Vol. VII, Part 1, pp. 171 to 177 and 179, 180 [1954]). In the German Patent specification 634 501 describes the oxidation of a-methyl-allyl alcohol to a-methyl-acrolein described by means of selenium dioxide.
However, the preparation of basic aldehydes was not previously known from the corresponding alcohols or their salts using selenium dioxide or chromium trioxide as an oxidizing agent.
It has now been found that basic diaryl aldehydes on simple and smooth way in good yields by oxidation of their corresponding primary basic Alcohols can be obtained. Although selenium dioxide aliphatic alcohol groups Generally not attacking, were with this oxidizing agent when applied elevated reaction temperatures, about 80 to 120 ° C, achieved good results. Even Chromium trioxide was found to be suitable at low temperatures, around 25 to 50 ° C Oxidizing agent.
As an essential prerequisite for achieving favorable yields of basic aldehydes, however, the use of the salts of the primary basic Alcohols, preferably the sulfuric acid salt, instead of the free base and blocking the aldehyde group during the reaction, e.g. B. by means of acetic anhydride, be considered. The aldehyde can optionally be purified by distillation be made, which is also a decisive step forward other representations.
Beispiel 1 50 g 2,2-Diphenyl-4-dimethylamino-pentanol-(1) 1/z H2 SO4, gelöst in 500m1 Essigsäureanhydrid, wurden, versetzt mit 15 g Selendioxyd, unter Rühren 2 Stunden auf 80 bis 90°C erwärmt und anschließend 1 Stunde zum Sieden erhitzt.Example 1 50 g of 2,2-diphenyl-4-dimethylaminopentanol- (1) 1 / z H2 SO4, dissolved in 500m1 acetic anhydride, mixed with 15 g selenium dioxide, under Stirring heated to 80 to 90 ° C for 2 hours and then heated to boiling for 1 hour.
After filtration of the reaction product, the filtrate is evaporated in vacuo on the water bath to about 1/3 of its volume, mixed with ice and hydrochloric acid and extracted with ether. The aqueous-acidic components are separated off, filtered, alkalized with ammonia and extracted with ether. The combined ether extracts it is washed neutral with saturated sodium chloride solution and dried with sodium sulfate and removes the solvent.
Der Rückstand ergibt bei der fraktionierten Hochvakuumdestillation 23 bis 27 g 2,2-Diphenyl-4-dimethylamino-pentanal-(1) vom Sdp.o,3 = 144 bis 149°C, das sind 55 bis 64 °/o der Theorie.The residue results from fractional high vacuum distillation 23 to 27 g of 2,2-diphenyl-4-dimethylamino-pentanal- (1) with bp o, 3 = 144 to 149 ° C, that is 55 to 64 per cent of theory.
Example 2 50 g of 2,2-diphenyl-4-dimethylamino-pentanol- (1) 1 / z 'H, SO " dissolved in 300 ml of acetic anhydride were stirred with a solution of 16 g of chromium trioxide in 200 ml of acetic anhydride at room temperature within The reaction mixture is left to stand overnight and a further solution of 8 g of chromium trioxide in 140 ml is added dropwise the next day with stirring, followed by heating to 30 to 40 ° C. for a further 3 hours.
After filtration of the reaction mixture, 1, '3 of the volume is concentrated, mixed with ice and hydrochloric acid and extracted with ether. The watery-acidic ones Fractions are separated off, made alkaline with ammonia and then repeated extracted with ether, preferably by stirring vigorously. The combined ether extracts it is washed neutral with sodium chloride solution, dried over sodium sulfate and removed the solvent.
Der Rückstand wird der fraktionierten Ölvakuumdestillation unterworfen und liefert 23 g 2,2-Diphenyl-4-dimethylamino-pentanal-(1) vom Sdp.o,3 = 144 bis 149°C, das sind 55 °/o der Theorie.The residue is subjected to fractional oil vacuum distillation and provides 23 g of 2,2-diphenyl-4-dimethylamino-pentanal- (1) from bp 0.3 = 144 to 149 ° C, that's 55% of theory.
