Description

Process for applying phosphors to the glass walls electrical Discharge vessels, in particular gas discharge tubes The invention relates to a new one Method of making phosphors, d. H. Substances that fluoresce or phosphoresce, to be attached to the glass walls of gas discharge tubes.

The method described in detail below makes it possible to a simplification of the application of the phosphors and further a considerable acceleration of the operations to be carried out. In addition, it excludes all defects with the methods for attaching phosphors that have been practiced so far - regardless of whether these processes were involved in dusting the phosphors or consisted in slurrying the phosphors. So the procedure means opposite a considerable technical advance compared to the previously customary process.

The invention consists in that in the discharge vessels such. B. glass tubes, a silicone film is formed by introducing organosilicohalogens, expediently dimethylsilicon dichloride in liquid or vapor form in such an amount, that the glass wall is sufficiently wetted, the excess is poured out or Blow out removed. The organosilicohalogens are good wetting substances and form an even film on the glass wall. Be by the water vapor of the air they hydrolyze and become ring or Polymerized chain links, -which form a liquid, highly viscous film with very low vapor pressure, the holds the introduced phosphor.
