Verfahren zur Herstellung von Carbonsäureanhydriden
Es wurde gefunden. cfaß man Carhonsäure-
anhydride erhält, wrtt matt auf olefinische Ver-
bindungen Kolilettonyd und Carlxinsä Uren in
Gegenwart vorn Metallearhonvle ltildenden Metallen
()(ler deren Verhindungen unter erhöhtem Druck
und bei erlti@hter Tengwratur einwirken Mßt.
Beispiele von olefinischen Verbindungen sind

()lehnen. wie sie in natürlichen Rollstoffen von
komnien oder bei technischen Verfahren. z. B. der
I )eltv@lrierung oder <lern Kracken von KoMen-
@@-asserst@@ffen. der l@oltlen@txvdhvdrierung oder der
()lehnlmlynierisatimi entstellen, eignen sich als
Ausgangsstoff?. Ferner seien genannt Olefttcadtoti-
süttrett. Olc#tiualkohole, z. li. Oleylalkohol u. a.
Ms Ausgangsstoffe geeignete Carbonsä Uren sind
beispielsweise Essigsäure. Propion-, Butter-,
lAurin- culer Stearinsä ure, auch Oletincarlxinsäureti
seihst, wie Olsäure und Undecvlensäure. Die L`m-
setzungsfühigkeit der Ausgangsstoffe ist je nach
ihrem _\ufhau verschieden; bei der Verwendung
einer ungesättigten Carbonsäure als Ausgangs-
stoff kiinuen dabei entweder die Doppelbindungen
oder die Carhonylgruppen oder auch beide Gruppen
an der Umsetzung teilnehmen. Verwendet man
z. 13. Olehncarlionsäuren allein, so erhält man
lische _lnltvdride von Dicarhonsäuren.
Als Katalysatoren eignen sich von den Metall-
carl,on@-le bildenden Metallen vor allein Nickel und
Kobalt, ferner auch beispielsweise Wolfram und
Eisen sowie deren Gemisch .e oder Legierungen
miteinander oder ihre Gemische mit anderen Me-
tallen, z. 1i. Kupfer, Silber, `'Wismut, Antimon oder
@-anadium. clie dabei alsAktivatoren für die Metall-
carl>onvle bildenden 'Metalle wirken können. Von
den Verbindungen der 'Metallcarbot,yle bildenden
Metalle seien als besonders wirksam die Carbonyle,
Halogenide und Salze organischer Säuren genannt.
Den Katalysatoren können gegebenenfalls noch
andere Aktivatoren als die obengenannten, z. B.
Oxvcle, Halogenide, Phosphate, Borate und Sulfide
nicht Metallcarbonyle bildender 'Metalle, Schwefel-
wasserstoff, Schwefelkohlenstoff, Jod oder Brom
zugesetzt werden.
Die Katalysatoren können im Ausgangsgut ge-
löst oder aufgeschlämmt oder auf Trägern, wie
Kieselgel oder Aktivkohle, aufgekracht oder in
gasför,niger Form, z. B. in Form von Carhonylen,
angewandt werden.
Die Umsetzung verläuft besonders gut in flüs-
siger Phase, wobei die Carbonsäuren selbst gleich-
zeitig als Umsetzungsflüssigkeit dienen oder auch
andere Lösungsmittel verwendet werden können.
Auch das Kohlenoxv<l kann in verdünnter Form
ange«-andt werden.
Die Umsetzungstemperaturen liegen im allge-
nieinen zwisclieti 120 his 350 , doch kötine,i mit-
unter höhere oder tiefere Temperaturen geeignet
:ein. M: s ist vorteilhaft, einen Druck zwischen 5o
und 23o at oder noch höhere Drucke anzuwenden.
Vielfach c,npfiehlt sich das Arbeiten im L,nm,ter-
brochenen Betrieb, z. B. im Rieselverfahren. So
kann nian die U msetzungsteilneh,ner. wenn sie bei
den Umsetzungsbedingungen ganz oder zum Teil
flüssig sind, filier den fest a,,geord,,eteii Katalysator
fließen lassen und das Kohlenoxyd unter Ergänzung
der verbrauchten Mengen im Gegen- oder Gleich-
strom führen. Unverät,derte Anteile können bei der
Unisetzung wieder zugegeben werden. Flüchtige
Carbonvle. z. 13. Nickelcarbonvl, kann man im
Kreislaufgas mitführen.
Es ist zwar bekannt, daß man durch Umsetzen
von Olefinen mit Kohlenmonoxyd und Wasser in
Gegenwart von Beschleunigern unter erhöhtem
Druck t,nd bei höherer Temperatur Carbonsäuren
erhalte,' kann. Die Herstellung von Carl>onsäure-
anhydriden durch Umsetzung von olefinischet1 Ver-
bindungen mit Kohlenmonoxyd und Carbonsäuren
ist jedoch bisher noch nicht beschrieben worden.
Die in den nachstehenden Beispielen angegebenen
Teile sind Gewichtsteile.
Beispiel 1

aus gleichen Raumteilen Äthylen und Kohlenoxyd
bestehendes Gemisch unter ioo at Druck unter 1?r-
gänzung der verbrauchten 'Mengen aufpreßt. Bei
der 1)e:tillation des Umsetzungsgemisches erhält
nian als zlvisclien 102 und 166 siedenden Haupt-
anteil Propionsäureanhydrid neben unveränderter
Propionsäure. Die Menge des Anhvdrids entspricht
63% der angewandten 1'i-ol>ionsüt,re.

Nickel in einem Hochdruckgefäß 16 Stunden auf

aufpreßt. Man entfernt dann das geliil(lete Nickel-
carbonyl und erhält so 1-23 Teile eines Irrzeugnisses,
das leim Destillieren zum größten "feil zwischen
16o bis t7o@ siedet und zu oo 0.1;o aus Propionsäure-
anbydrid besteht. Der lest ist uriveränderte
Propionsät,re.
