Description
- Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren für die Carboalkoxylierung von Butadien, insbesondere ein Verfahren für die Herstellung von Alkylpentenoaten aus 1,3-Butadien.
- Viele Verfahren sind offenbart worden, in weichen Übergangsmetall-Katalysatoren verwendet werden, um Olefine zu carbonylieren. Viele Jahre sind insbesondere, als ein Mittel, um Butadiene in Adipinsäurevorläufer umzuwandeln, palladiumkatalysierte Carboalkoxylierungsreaktionen untersucht worden. Katalysatorensysteme für solche Verfahren, die Palladium und einzähnige oder mehrzähnige Gruppe-V-Liganden umfassen, werden offenbart in: Deutsche Offenlegunsschrift- Nr. 2 410 246; EP 55 875; EP 273 489; EP 284 170 und US 3 887 595. Katalystorensysteme, die Palladium, einen Gruppe- V-Liganden und einen Säurepromotor umfassen, sind offenbart in: US 3 437 676; US 3 501 518; US 4 414 409; US 4 786 443; GB 1 110 405; EP 43 382; EP 106 379; EP 198 521; EP 227 160; EP 235 864; EP 271 145 und EP 279 477.
- US 4 172 087 offenbart ein Palladiumkatalysatorsystem, bestehend aus: (a) einem oder mehreren Palladiumhalogenidsalzen in Kombination mit einem oder mehreren einzähnigen tertiären Phosphor enthaltenden Donorliganden oder einem oder mehreren palladiumhalogenidfreien Salzen in Kombination mit einem oder mehreren mehrzähnigen tertiären Phosphor enthaltenden Donorliganden; (b) wenigstens einem Moläquivalent eines Hydroxylgruppe enthaltenden Reaktionspartners; und (c) einer Stickstoff enthaltenden Base. Das bevorzugte Ausgangsmaterial ist 1,3-Butadien. Pyridin, alkylierte Pyridine, Chinolin, Lutidin, Picolin, Isochinolin, alkylierte Chinoline und Isochinoline, Acridin, N,N-Dimethylanilin, N,N-Diethylanilin, N,N-Diethyltoluidin, N,N-Dibutyltoluidin, N, N-Dimethylformamid und N-Methyl-2-Pyrrolidon können als die Stickstoff enthaltende Base verwendet werden.
- US 3 437 676 offenbart ein Carbonylierungsverfahren, in welchem eine olefinisch ungesättigte Verbindung mit Kohlenmonoxid und einem Alkohol umgesetzt wird, um einen Carbonsäureester zu ergeben, wobei die Umsetzung unter dem Einfluß eines Palladiumkomplexsalzes als ein Katalysator in einer Menge von 0,01 bis 1 Gew.-%, bezogen auf die olefinisch ungesättigte Verbindung, ausgeführt wird. Triphenylphosphinpyridin-Palladiumdichlorid ist ein geeigneter Katalysator (Spalte 4, Zeilen 3-4). Die Umsetzung kann in Gegenwart einer organischen oder anorganischen Säure ausgeführt werden, umfassend Schwefelsäure, Phosphorsäure, Borsäure, Essigsäure, Propionsäure, andere Carbonsäuren oder Halogenwasserstoffsäuren in Mengen bis zu 10 Gew.-%, bezogen auf die gesamten Ausgangsmaterialien (Spalte 4, Zeile 63 - Spalte 5, Zeile 1).
- Die im Stand der Technik für die Carboalkoxylierung von Butadien offenbarten Umsetzungen verlaufen oft bei gemäßigten Temperaturen und Drücken und stellen so attraktive Wege zu Dimethyladipat, einem Vorläufer der Adipinsäure, zur Verfügung. Jedoch beträgt die Selektivität für die erwünschten linearen Produkte (Dialkyladipate), die durch diese Umsetzungen erreicht wird, gewöhnlicherweise weniger als 75%, und daher besteht hier die Notwendigkeit selektivere Verfahren für die Carboalkoxylierung von Butadien zu entwickeln.
- Es ist jetzt gefunden worden, daß ein Katalysator, der Palladium, Chlorid, eine starke Säure, ein Arylphosphin und eine N-heterocyclische Base umfaßt, für die Carboalkoxylierung von Butadien verwendet werden kann, um höhere Butadienumwandlung und größere Selektivität für die erwünschten Pentenoatester zu erreichen.
- Die vorliegende Erfindung stellt ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von linearen Alkylpentenoaten bereit, d.h., C&sub4;H&sub7; OR, umfassend die Umsetzung von Butadien, Kohlenmonoxid und einem Alkohol, d.h., ROH,in Gegenwart eines Katalysators, umfassend Palladium, Chlorid, eine starke Säure, ein Arylphosphin und eine N-heterocyclische Base, wobei R ausgewählt ist aus der Gruppe von C&sub1;- bis C&sub1;&sub2;-Alkyl, das molare Verhältnis von N-heterocyclischer Base zu starker Säure wenigstens 0,5 ist, und die Umsetzung in einem Lösungsmittel ausgeführt wird.
- Das Verfahren der vorliegenden Erfindung ergibt die erwünschten linearen Pentenoate, d.h., die Alkylester der cis- und trans-2-Pentensäure, cis- und trans-3-Pentensäure und 4- Pentensäure mit sehr hoher Selektivität. Diese Alkylpentenoate können dann weiterhin uingesetzt werden, um Dialkyladipate oder andere Adipinsäurevorläufer zu ergeben.
- Der Schlüssel, um sowohl hohe Umwandlungen von Butadien zu den Produkten als auch hohe Selektivität für die erwünschten linearen Produkte zu erreichen, ist die Verwendung einer Katalysatormischung, die Palladium, Chlorid, eine starke Säure, ein Arylphosphin und eine N-heterocyclische Base umfaßt. Katalysatorenmischungen bei denen eine oder mehrere dieser fünf Komponenten fehlten, ergeben deutlich niedrigere Umwandlungen und/oder Selektivitäten als die beanspruchten Fünf-Komponenten-Systeine, in welchen quantitative Umwandlungen mit über 90% Selektivität für die Methylpentenoate erreicht werden können.
- Das für die Umsetzung notige Palladium kann durch eine beliebige(s) Palladiumverbindung oder -salz bereitgestellt werden, das unter den Reaktionsbedingungen löslich ist, und das keine Komponenten enthält, die sich nachteilig auf die Carboalkoxylierungsreaktion auswirken. Geeignete Palladiumverbindungen umfassen PdX&sub2; (X = Cl, Br, I); Pd(acetat)&sub2;; Pd(PPH&sub3;)&sub4;; Pd(CO&sub2;CH&sub3;)Cl(PPh&sub3;)&sub2;; PdCl&sub2;(PPh&sub3;)&sub2; und Derivate davon. Die bevorzugten Verbindungen sind PdCl&sub2; und PdCl&sub2;(PPh&sub3;)&sub2;. Die in dem Verfahren der vorliegenden Erfindung verwendetete Palladiummenge beträgt zwischen 0,005 und 0,5 Gew.-% der gesamten Reaktionsmischung. Bei Verwendung geringerer Mengen besteht die Tendenz, daß sich beträchtliche Mengen an Butadienoligomeren und carboalkoxylierten Derivaten davon bilden, und die Verwendung höherer Palladiummengen ist unnötig und unwirtschaftlich.
- Der Katalysator muß entweder eine organische oder anorganische Chloridquelle enthalten. Geeignete Chloridquellen umfassen Säuren, Palladiumverbindungen, Chlorkohlenwasserstoffe und anorganische Salze, zum Beispiel, HCl, PdCl&sub2;, 3-Chloro-1-buten und Chlorid enthaltende Salze, wie LiCl, die wenigstens teilweise unter den Reaktionsbedingungen löslich sind. Die bevorzugte Choridquelle ist PdCl&sub2;. Das molare Verhältnis von Chlorid zu Palladium beträgt von etwa 1 bis 10, am bevorzugtesten von 2 bis 4. Die Umsetzung wird bei molaren Verhältnissen von Chlorid zu Palladium kleiner als 1 ablaufen, aber mit niedrigeren Geschwindigkeiten bei einer gegebenen Palladiummenge.
- Für das Verfahren der vorliegenden Erfindung geeignete Arylphosphine sind einzähnige Phosphine, die wenigstens eine am Phosphor hängende Arylgruppe aufweisen. Die Arylgruppe(n) kann (können) unsubstituiert sein oder eine oder mehrere C&sub1;- C&sub4;-Alkyl-, C&sub1;-C&sub4;-Alkoxy-, Halogen-, SO&sub3;- oder andere Substituenten enthalten, die unter den Reaktionsbedingungen inert sind. Geeignete am Phosphor hängende Nicht-Arylgruppen umfassen C&sub1;-C&sub6;-Alkyl- und Cycloalkylgruppen. Bevorzugte Phosphine sind Triphenylphosphin, Tris(p-tolyl)phosphin und Tris(3-chlorphenyl)phosphin. Das molare Verhältnis von Phosphin zu Palladium beträgt vorzugsweise etwa 1 bis etwa 15, am bevorzugtesten etwa 4 bis etwa 8.
- In dem Verfahren der vorliegenden Erfindung verwendete starke Säuren sind diejenigen mit einem pKa-Wert von weniger als etwa 3,5, wie HCl, H&sub2;SO&sub4;, Sulfonsäuren, wie Trifluormethansulfonsäure, und substituierte Benzoesäuren, wie 2,6- Dichlorbenzoesäure und 2,4,6-Trimethylbenzoesäure. Das molare Verhältnis von starker Säure zu Palladium sollte 0,5 bis etwa 10 betragen, vorzugsweise 1 bis 4.
- Geeignete N-heterocyclische Basen haben einen pKa-Wert von wenigstens etwa 3 und umfassen Pyrazin, Pyridin, alkyl- substituierte Pyridine, in welchen die Alkylgruppen von 1 bis 5 Kohlenstoffatome aufweisen, alkoxy-substituierte Pyridine, in welchen die Alkoxygruppen von 1 bis 5 Kohlenstoffatome aufweisen, und Cycloalkyl-, Cycloalkyloxy-, Aryl- und Aryloxygruppen mit 6 bis 14 Kohlenstoffatomen.
- Spezielle Beispiele von N-heterocyclischen Basen umfassen:
- Pyrazin
- Pyridin
- 3,4-Dimethylpyridin
- 4-Phenoxypyridin
- Chinolin
- Isochinolin
- 2,2'-Bipyridyl
- 2-Picolin
- 3-Picolin
- 4-Picolin
- 2,3-Dimethylpyridin
- 2,4-Dimethylpyridin
- 3,5-Dimethylpyridin
- 4-Benzylpyridin
- 3-Acetylpyridin
- 2,6-Lutidin
- 4-Phenylpyridin
- Die N-heterocyclische Base kann in geringen Mengen (z.B. 0,2 Gew.-%) oder als ein Lösungsmittel für die Umsetzung verwendet werden. Jedoch muß die Molarität der Reaktion von N- heterocyclischer Base zu starker Säure wenigstens 0,5 sein, vorzugsweise wenigstens 1.
- Das in dem vorliegenden Verfahren verwendete Butadien sollte im wesentlichen von Verunreinigungen frei sein, obwohl geringe Mengen nichtreagierender Verbindungen, wie Butane und inerte Gase, toleriert werden können. Das Butadien kann zu der Reaktionsmischung als Ganzes oder in portionsweisen Mengen hinzufügt werden. Die Butadienkonzentration sollte während der Umsetzung unter etwa 30 Gew.-% gehalten werden, um die Bildung von Butadiendimeren und deren Derivaten zu minimieren. Wenn das Verfahren auf eine kontinuierliche Weise durchgeführt wird, kann die Butadienmenge in der Reaktionsmischung zu irgendeiner bestimmten Zeit sehr gering sein-- weniger als 1 Gew.-% der Reaktionslösung.
- Das Kohlenmonoxid für das vorliegende Verfahren kann aus kommerziellen Quellen erhalten werden. Die Kohlenmonoxidquelle kann geringe Mengen H&sub2; (1-10%, vorzugsweise weniger als 5%), Kohlendioxid, gesättigte Kohlenwasserstoffe und andere inerte Gase enthalten. Die Kohlenmonoxidmenge in dem Reaktor sollte wenigstens ausreichend sein, um die Stöchiometrie der Carbonylierungsreaktion zu erfüllen.
- Geeignete, in dem Verfahren der vorliegenden Erfindung verwendete Alkohole, d.h. ROH, sind diejenigen, in denen R aus der Gruppe von C&sub1;- bis C&sub1;&sub2;-Alkyl ausgewählt ist. Methanol und Ethanol sind bevorzugt. Das bevorzugte molare Verhältnis von Alkohol zu Butadien liegt zwischen etwa 1:1 und 3,0:1. Bei niedrigeren Verhältnissen liegt nicht genügend Alkohol vor, um das gesamte Butadien zu carboalkoxylieren; bei höheren Verhältnissen werden beträchtliche Mengen an Dimeren und deren Derivaten gebildet, insbesondere wenn die Säure nicht HCl ist.
- Das Verfahren der vorliegenden Erfindung ist nicht in kritischer Weise vom Druck abhängig, obwohl der bevorzugte Bereich etwa zwischen 1000 und 10 000 psi liegt.
- Die Umsetzung wird üblicherweise bei einer Temperatur im Bereich von zwischen etwa 80ºC und etwa 170ºC ausgeführt, vorzugsweise 90ºC bis 170ºC. Bei Umsetzungen, die bei niedrigeren Temperaturen ablaufen, besteht die Tendenz, daß beträchtliche Mengen an Dimeren und dimeren Produkten gebildet werden; höhere Temperaturen erfordern höhere Drücke.
- Für diese Umsetzung ist ein Lösungsmittel notwendig. Geeignete Lösungsmittel umfassen:
- Alkane: Pentan, Hexan, Heptan, Octan, Cyclohexan, Methylcyclohexan, 2,2,3-Trimethylpentan, Gasolin-Fraktionen.
- Amide: DMF, N,N-Ethylisopropylformamid, Acetamid, N-Phenylacetamid, Isobutyramid, Isovaleriansäureamid, Isocaprylamid, N-Caprylamid, N-Propylheptanoylamid, Isoundecylamid.
- Aromaten: Benzol, Toluol, Xylole, Mesitylen, Ethylbenzol, Pentylbenzol, Cumol, Chlorbenzol, Dichlorbenzole.
- Ester: Methylacetat, Ethylacetat, sec-Butylacetat, Cyclohexylacetat, Furfuralacetat, Ethylformiat, Glycoldiformiat, Butylformiat, Methylbenzoat, Ethylbenzoat, Benzobenzoat, Ethylpropionat, Diethyloxalat, Dibutyloxalat, Dimethylphthalat, Dibutylphthalat, Diethylmalonat, Methylsalicylat, Butyrolacton, Valerolacton, Dimethyladipat, Diethyladipat, Diisopropyladipat und Methylvalerat.
- Ether: Diethylether, Diisopropylether, Di-n-butylether, Diisobutylether, Diisoamylether, Ethylbenzylether, Anisol, Diphenylether, THF, Dioxan, o-Tolylmethylether, Diglym, Ethylenglycol, Ethylenglycoldibutylether, Ethylenglycoldiisoamylether, Diethylenglycoldiethylether, Diethylenglycoldimethylether, Ethylenglycoldiphenylether, Triethylenglycoldiethylether, Tetraethylenglycoldimethylether, Tetraethylenglycoldibutylether.
- Halogenkohlenstoffe: Methylenchlorid, Tetrachlorkohlenstoff.
- Ketone: Aceton, Methylethylketon, Methylisobutylketon, Acetophenon, Acetylaceton, Cyclohexanon.
- Nitrile: Acetonitril, Benzonitril.
- N-heterocvclische Basen: Pyrazin, Pyridin, 3,4-Dimethylpyridin, 4-Phenoxypyridin, Chinolin, Isochinolin, 2,2'-Bipyridyl, 2-Picolin, 3-Picolin, 4-Picolin, 2,3-Dimethylpyridin, 2,4-Dimethylpyridin, 3,5-Dimethylpyridin, 4-Benzylpyridin, 3-Acetylpyridin, 2,6-Lutidin, 4-Phenylpyridin.
- Sulföne: Diisopropylsulfon, Diethylsulfon, Butylamylsulfon, Methylbenzylsulfon, Sulfolan, 2-Nethylsulfolan, 2-Methyl-4- butylsulfolan.
- Sulfoxide: Dimethylsulfoxid.
- Bevorzugte Lösungsmittel sind Dimethyladipat, Pyridin, Diphenylether, Methylvalerat und Dimethylpimalat.
- Das Verfahren der vorliegenden Erfindung kann chargenweise oder auf eine kontinuierliche Weise ausgeführt werden.
- Die folgenden Beispiele dienen der Erläuterung der vorliegenden Erfindung, schränken sie jedoch nicht ein. Sofern nicht anders angegeben wird, sind Teile und Prozentsätze auf das Gewicht bezogen, und Temperaturen sind in Grad Celsius angegeben.
- In einem typischen Verfahren wurde ein Pyrex -Glasinnenbehälter mit 0,12 g (0,68 mmol) PdCl&sub2;, 1,00 g (3,81 mmol) Triphenylphosphin, 1,00 g (12,6 mmol) Pyridin, 0,25 g (2,55 mmol) Schwefelsäure, 4,0 g (125 mmol) Methanol und 20,0 g Dimethyladipat beschickt. Der Innenbehälter wurde in ein Hastelloyschüttelrohr eingesetzt und auf -78ºC gekühlt und evakuiert. Butadien (6 g, 111 mmol) wurde in das Rohr kondensiert. Das Rohr wurde bei Raumtemperatur mit Kohlenmonoxid auf einen Druck von 2000 psi gebracht, auf 140 ºC erhitzt und der Druck bei 3500 psi gehalten. Nach 3 Stunden wurde das Rohr gekühlt und der Inhalt wurde durch Gaschromatographie analysiert. Die Ergebnisse dieses Beispiels und ähnlicher Beispiele, die unter Anwendung dieses grundlegenden Verfahrens durchgeführt wurden, sind in Tabelle 1 angegeben. Beispiele der Erfindung Zeit Säure²

Claims (10)
1. Verfahren zur Herstellung von linearen
Alkylpentenoaten, welches die Umsetzung von Butadien,
Kohlenmonoxid und einem Alkylalkohol in einem organischen
Lösungsmittel mit einer homogenen katalytischen Mischung,
umfassend Palladium, Chlorid, eine starke Säure, ein
einzähniges Arylphosphin und eine N-heterocyclische Base bei einer
Temperatur im Bereich zwischen etwa 80 und 170ºC umfaßt,
bei welchem Palladium in der Reaktionsmischung in einer
Menge von etwa 0,005 bis 0,5 Gew.-% der Reaktionsmischung
anwesend ist, bei welchem das molare Verhältnis von Chlorid
zu Palladium im Bereich von 1 bis 10 liegt, bei welchem das
molare Verhältnis des einzähnigen Arylphosphins zu Palladium
größer als 1 und weniger als etwa 15 ist, bei welchem die
starke Säure einen pKa-Wert von weniger als 3,5 aufweist
und das molare Verhältnis von starker Säure zu Palladium
im Bereich von 0,5 bis 10 liegt, bei welchem die
N-heterocyclische Base einen pKa-Wert von wenigstens etwa 3 aufweist
und die N-heterocyclische Base in einem molaren Verhältnis
zu der starken Säure von wenigstens 0,5 vorliegt, und bei
welchem der Alkylalkohol 1 bis 12 Kohlenstoffatome aufweist
und das Verhältnis von Alkohol zu Butadien 1:3 bis 3:1
beträgt, und das Kohlenmonoxid in einer Menge vorliegt, die
mindestens ausreichend ist, um die Stöchiometrie der
Carbonylierungsreaktion zu erfüllen.
2. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, bei welchem die
starke Säure ausgewählt ist aus der Klasse bestehend aus
Chlorwasserstoffsäure, Schwefelsäure, Sulfonsäure und
substituierter Benzoesäure.
3. Verfahren nach Anspruch 2, bei welchem die
Säure eine Sulfonsäure ist, und die Sulfonsäure
Trifluormethansulfonsäure ist.
4. Verfahren nach Anspruch 2, bei welchem die
Säure eine Benzoesäure ist, und die Benzoesäure
2,4,6-Trimethylbenzoesaure ist.
5. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, bei welchem die
N-heterocyclische Base ausgewählt ist aus der Klasse
bestehend aus Pyridin und alkyl-substituiertem Pyridin, bei
welchem die Alkylgruppen 1 bis 5 Kohlenstoffatome aufweisen,
alkoxy-substituierten Pyridinen, bei denen die Alkoxygruppen
1 bis 5 Kohlenstoffatome aufweisen, und Cycloalkyl-,
Cycloalkyloxy-, Aryl- und Aryloxygruppen mit 6 bis 14
Kohlenstoffatomen.
6. Verfahren nach Anspruch 5, bei welchem die
N-heterocyclische Base ein alkyl-substituiertes Pyridin ist,
und das alkyl-substituierte Pyridin ausgewählt ist aus der
Klasse bestehend aus 2,6-Lutidin, 3,5-Lutidin und 3-Picolin.
7. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, bei welchem das
organische Lösungsmittel ausgewählt ist aus der Klasse
bestehend aus Alkanen, Amiden, Aromaten, Estern, Ethern,
Halogenkohlenstoffen, Ketonen, Nitrilen, Sulfonen, Sulfoxiden und
N-heterocyclischen Basen.
8. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, bei welchem das
organische Lösungsmittel ausgewählt ist aus der Klasse
bestehend aus Dimethyladipat, Diethyladipat, Diphenylether,
Methylvalerat und Pyridin.
9. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, bei welchem das
einzähnige Arylphosphin wenigstens eine am Phosphor hängende
Arylgruppe aufweist.
10. Verfahren nach Anspruch 9, bei welchem das
einzähnige Arylphosphin ausgewählt ist aus der Klasse bestehend
aus Triphenylphosphin, Tris-(3-chlorphenyl)phosphin und
Tris-(p-tolyl)phosphin.
