Description
Process for the production of water-repellent acetate rayon from hydrophobic cellulose acetate Manufacture of water-repellent acetate rayon has been formed.-In one process, the spinning "solution anhydride of higher fatty acids is drawn: it @ et and the structures formed therefrom are subsequently exposed to a temperature of more than 35- ', preferably of more than 5o' (see patent specification 623276).
Another method uses Gellulos, eacet, at, the in unprocessed, d. H. dry and solid state without dissolution or swelling of the acetate with a maximum of 10% simple or mixed anhydrides of higher fatty acids mixed and heated over 35 ", preferably over 5o".
A third way is now taken according to the invention, after which to Manufacture of artificially formed structures using hydrophobic cellulose acetate, to produce it, one or more type hydrides of higher species are added to the acetylation mixture Fatty acids were added, whereupon the precipitated end product was used for esterification in the solid state in the absence of swelling agents, solvents or condensation agents was heated over 35 ', preferably over 5o'.
It is already known to use artificially formed structures made of cellulose derivatives, like threads, tapes and films, through an esterifying treatment with acid anhydrides make higher fatty acids water repellent. This differs from this Process in that the addition of your or more A, nhydriden higher Esterifying agents existing in fatty acids already takes place during the acetylation.
When precipitating, the anhydride is then mixed homogeneously with the acetate and is chemically bonded to it through subsequent heating. Here is in other words: a cellulose derivative that is completely homogeneous as soon as it is formed is loaded with the radicals of higher fatty acids. The one by the former Working methods over the prior art achieved by the present Procedure enlarged.
Fatty acid anhydrides are used in the process according to the invention Anhydrides in question, the radical .a carboxylic acid with more than 10 carbon atoms : contain, for example lauric acid, palmitic acid, stearic acid @ e, margaric acid, Montanic acid, oleic acid, ricinoleic acid. Arthydrides are also possible, which in addition to the radical of a higher fatty acid that of a lower one fatty acid included, e.g. B. Acetic acid-stearic acid anhydride. 'The amount of fatty acid anhydride one calculates so, that less than half a mole of fatty acid radicals per mole Cellulose #; "acetate comes; with a higher addition, the 'properties of the acetate to be influenced too much. Preferably one uses 1 to 5% anhydride, on the cellulose acetate produced calculated.
The warming of the dry acetate should generally be longer than i Last hour if you end temperatures below 80 ° #anw. At higher Temperatures this time can be shortened. The addition of the anhydride can mine any phase of the acetylation process. Example i You are hired Aoetylation mixture produced from 3okg acetic anhydride, 5okg glacial acetic acid and 1.5kg concentrated sulfuric acid and dissolves in it zoo g of a mixture of palmitin and stearic anhydride. In this liquid one enters iokg Unters and acetylated for about 8 hours. Then add as much acetic acid as that the mixture contains 5% water, and heated for about q. Hours at 5o °. The product is precipitated in water, dried, and dried for about 5 hours 7 o ° heated.
Example 2 The procedure is as in Example i, but instead of 200 g of a mixture of palmhic and stearic anhydride, 500 g of a mixture of acetic acid and lauric anhydride are used. It is known to produce cellulose esters which, in addition to the acetyl radical, also contain radicals of higher fatty acids. In these Fälaen but the purpose of the process, esters #Yiit is a high content of higher fatty acids uh ', 4: Xbhtlich to produce correspondingly modified properties * the solubility and Entmbarkeit. For this purpose, finished cellulose acetates are treated with esterifying compounds of higher fatty acids; either one melts the acetate in an excess of higher fatty acid anhydride at a correspondingly high temperature or one treats the acetate with a solution of fatty acid chloride or fatty acid anhydride in the presence of a condensing agent such as pyridine or perchlorate. The new one differs from this known process in that the required small amount of anhydride is already added to the acetylation agent and the esterification itself is carried out on the precipitated product by warming it in the dry state in the absence of swelling, solvent and condensing agents.
