an I, 4, 5, 8-Naphthalintetracarbonsäure schlecht.
werden, schließlich höchstens 15 bis 209/0.Process for the preparation of 1, 4, 5, 8-naphthalenetetracarboxylic acid
According to the method of representation described in Liebigs Annalen, vol. 240, p. 147 ff. And p. 15z ff
can convert pyrene into the I, 4, 5, 8-naphthalenetracarbic acid in several successive process stages
be transferred. The reaction proceeds so that initially pyrene becomes acidic
Mixture of pyrenoquinane and pyrenic acid @oXydiert, then the pyrenic acid .by
Taking off with soda solution isolated and then my further stage alkaline with permanganate
is oxidized. Since the pyrenic acid produced by acidic oxidation is only
forms in small amounts, .sind the yields that can be achieved by this process
poor in 1,4,5,8-naphthalenetetracarboxylic acid. They amount if that at the
Acid oxidation obtainable and freed from the pyrenic acid again pyrenquinone
acidified, then separated from the pyrenic acid with soda solution and this then
is further oxidized under alkaline conditions and these various operations are repeated several times
eventually a maximum of 15 to 209/0.
I, 4, 5, 8-Naphthalintetracarbonsäure in, guter Ausbeute und großer Reinheit erhält,
It has now been found that one valuable as a dye intermediate
I, 4, 5, 8-naphthalenetetracarboxylic acid is obtained in good yield and high purity,
if you use pyrenquinone, expediently in finely divided form, with alkalis and hypochlorites
treated in the presence of water and expediently in the heat. This new manufacturing process,
which in its simplicity represents a valuable technical advance is
surprised; for it could not be expected that the two rings in the pyrenequinone
split up so easily.
Beispiele I. 50 Gewichtsteile Pyrenchinon,

The present process was not foreseeable and means
its simplicity represents an advance in that one can follow the procedure of

Man saugt vom ausgeschiedenen

% sehr reine I, 4, 5, 8-Naphthalintetracarb onsäure. The 1,4,5,8-naphthalenetetracarbonic acid obtained in this way is obtained in a very pure form with a yield of about 80%. Of course, you can also do without the isolation of the lime salts, by adding concentrated salt directly to the emulsion after the oxidation of the lime salts, around the tetracarboxylic acid. A suspension of 700 parts by volume of sodium hypochlorite solution with about 15% active chlorine, 100 parts by volume of sodium hydroxide solution of spec. Weight about 1.38 and 50 parts by weight of finely divided pyrenequinone, such as is obtained, for example, in the oxidation of very finely divided pyrene in sulfuric acid with sodium or potassium dichromate "is first stirred for a few hours at normal temperature, then for a few more hours at 5o to 8o ° The precipitated sodium salt of the formed z, 4, 5, 8-naphthalenetetracarboxylic acid is suctioned off, which is dissolved in water to convert it into the free acid, filtered off from a small amount of undissolved material and then acidified about 80% very pure 1,4,5,8-naphthalenetetracarbonic acid.
