Description

Process for the dialytic extraction of plant substances The production of medicinal products by dialytic extraction of plant substances is used to be carried out in the following way: The starting material is placed in a container (e.g. a percolator) and brings it into contact with a liquid which the able to dissolve substances to be extracted. The solvent then penetrates the enclosing membranes and leaves the substances to be extracted in dissolved form diffuse through the membranes to the outside. By means of evaporation or the like. the extracted substances can then finally be recovered from the solvent.

For certain purposes it has already been proposed to subject the extraction material to the influence of direct or alternating current at the same time during the extraction in order to split the extraction substances electrolytically or to achieve similar effects. Experiments have shown that the yield can be increased by about 10 to 25% if the solvent is subjected to the passage of an electrical alternating current of a very low frequency, namely of about 0.5 to 5 Hertz. This surprising fact is probably primarily due to polarization phenomena, which arise on the membranes with periodically changing directions and which cause a kind of microscopic-mechanical massage of the membrane. It is understandable that the membranes can be kept permanently clean and permeable in this way. The mentioned increase in yield can in fact only be achieved when using the specified, unusually low-lying frequency range. The use of even lower frequencies or direct current, on the other hand, leads to a reduction in the yield due to clogging or even destruction of the membranes, while the yield figure falls back to its normal level when higher frequencies are used; "Then, if necessary, only electrolytic decomposition phenomena make themselves felt.

So z. B. in the production of china tincture by extracting zo g of cinchona bark using a 2o0 / 0 strength alcohol solution with normal percolation a dry substance of 0.8o9z g and an amount of alkaloid of 0.0958 g, while when using the extremely low-period alternating current according to the invention, the yield increases 0.9359 g with o, xzz3 g of alkaloid rose. In the way according to the invention, 50% more dry matter and 20% more alkaloid were obtained.
