Abstract

A device (100,200) comprising a controller (300) configured to:
determine whether graphical objects (410a, 410b, 410c, 410d, 610a, 610b, 610c) to be displayed on a map at a given zoom level will overlap when the map (409) is displayed at said given zoom level,
cause stacking of at least some of the graphical objects (410a, 410b, 410c, 410d, 610a, 610b, 610c) that have been determined to overlap at a location at the given zoom level to create a further graphical object (410) at the location representing, at said given zoom level, at least some of the stacked graphical objects (410a, 410b, 410c, 410d, 610a, 610b, 610c), and enabling a user to view, at said given zoom level, at least some of the stacked graphical objects (410a, 410b, 410c, 410d, 610a, 610b, 610c) upon user selection of the further graphical object, wherein the stacked, other, and further graphical object have a visual representation being displayed when rendered, said visual representation being an image, wherein the image comprises a thumbnail of a photograph,
cause display of said further graphical object (410) at the location representing, at said given zoom level, at least some of the stacked graphical objects (410a, 410b, 410c, 410d, 610a, 610b, 610c), and enabling a user to view, at said given zoom level, at least some of the stacked graphical objects (410a, 410b, 410c, 410d, 610a, 610b, 610c) upon user selection of the further graphical object, and display of other graphicäl objects;
change said given zoom level to a further zoom level that is more zoomed in than the given zoom level;
cause splitting up of the further graphical object (410) into a plurality of second further graphical objects that do not overlap with each other or with other graphical objects at said further zoom level.

Description

  • Betreffend das europäische Patent 2 329 223 mit Wirkung für die Bundesrepublik Deutschland (nationale Patentnummer 60 2009 035 862 ) hat die Patentabteilung 59 des Deutschen Patent- und Markenamtes am 11.09.2023 beschlossen:
    • Das Patent wird durch folgende Änderungen der Patentansprüche nach Hilfsantrag 2 beschränkt: Die geänderten Patentansprüche 1 - 32 vom 24.07.2023 treten an die Stelle der erteilten Ansprüche 1 - 15.

Claims (32)

  1. A device (100,200) comprising a controller (300) configured to: determine whether graphical objects (410a, 410b, 410c, 410d, 610a, 610b, 610c) to be displayed on a map at a given zoom level will overlap when the map (409) is displayed at said given zoom level, cause stacking of at least some of the graphical objects (410a, 410b, 410c, 410d, 610a, 610b, 610c) that have been determined to overlap at a location at the given zoom level to create a further graphical object (410) at the location representing, at said given zoom level, at least some of the stacked graphical objects (410a, 410b, 410c, 410d, 610a, 610b, 610c), and enabling a user to view, at said given zoom level, at least some of the stacked graphical objects (410a, 410b, 410c, 410d, 610a, 610b, 610c) upon user selection of the further graphical object, wherein the stacked, other, and further graphical object have a visual representation being displayed when rendered, said visual representation being an image, wherein the image comprises a thumbnail of a photograph, cause display of said further graphical object (410) at the location representing, at said given zoom level, at least some of the stacked graphical objects (410a, 410b, 410c, 410d, 610a, 610b, 610c), and enabling a user to view, at said given zoom level, at least some of the stacked graphical objects (410a, 410b, 410c, 410d, 610a, 610b, 610c) upon user selection of the further graphical object, and display of other graphicäl objects; change said given zoom level to a further zoom level that is more zoomed in than the given zoom level; cause splitting up of the further graphical object (410) into a plurality of second further graphical objects that do not overlap with each other or with other graphical objects at said further zoom level.
  2. A device according to claim 1 wherein at least one of the second further graphical objects represents and enables a user to view, at said further zoom level, stacked graphical objects.
  3. A device according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the controller is configured to respond to user selection of the further graphical object (410) to cause display of a pop-up window that enables a user to view the at least some of the stacked graphical objects (410a, 410b, 410c, 410d, 610a, 610b, 610c) without changing the given zoom level.
  4. A device according to claim 3, wherein the controller is configured to enable scrolling of content of the popup window.
  5. A device (100,200) according to any preceding claim, wherein one or more of: - the image of the visual representation of the stacked and/or other graphical object comprises a thumbnail of a photograph; - said visual representation of the further graphical object being a visual representation of a graphical object being stacked in said further graphical object; - said visual representation of the further graphical object contains a number indicating the number of stacked graphical objects (410a, 410b, 410c, 410d, 610a, 610b, 610c); - the location represents at least some of the stacked graphical objects (410a, 410b, 410c, 410d, 610a, 610b, 610c) based on geographical coordinates of the at least some of the stacked graphical objects, a respective graphical object having a visual representation being a thumbnail of a photograph, the photograph having been taken at the geographical coordinates of the respective graphical object.
  6. A device (100,200) according to claim 1 wherein said visual representation of said further graphical object being a visual representation of a graphical object being stacked in said further graphical object.
  7. A device (100,200) according to claim 5, wherein said controller (300) is further configured to receive a selection command for the further graphical object and to display said visual representations of graphical objects (410a, 410b, 410c, 410d, 610a, 610b, 610c) stacked in said further graphical object in response thereto.
  8. A device (100,200) according to claim 7 wherein said controller (300) is configured to display said visual representations of said stacked graphical objects (410a, 410b, 410c, 410d, 610a, 610b, 610c) in a window and wherein said controller (300) is further configured to display one of said visual representations of said stacked graphical objects (410a, 410b, 410c, 410d, 610a, 610b,610c) in a first size and the other of said visual representations of said stacked graphical objects (410a, 410b, 410c, 410d, 610a, 610b, 610c) in a second size wherein said first size is larger than said second size.

A device (100,200) according to claim 1, wherein said further graphical object is associated with a set of geographical coordinates based on the geographical coordinates of the at least some of the graphical objects, a respective graphical object having a visual representation being a thumbnail of a photograph, the photograph having been taken at the geographical coordinates of the respective graphical object,

A device (100, 200) according to claim 1 wherein said controller (300) is configured to determine whether a graphical object overlaps another graphical object by determining if said graphical objects' (410a, 410b, 410c, 410d, 610a, 610b, 610c) visual representations would overlap when rendered.
  11. A device (100,200) comprising a controller (300) configured to: determine whether graphical objects (410a, 410b, 410c, 410d, 610a, 610b, 610c) to be displayed on a map at a given zoom level will overlap when the map (409) is displayed at said given zoom level, cause stacking of at least some of the graphical objects (410a, 410b, 410c, 410d, 610a, 610b, 610c) that have been determined to overlap at a location at the given zoom level to create a further graphical object (410) at the location representing, at said given zoom level, at least some of the stacked graphical objects (410a, 410b, 410c, 410d, 610a, 610b, 610c), and enabling a user to view, at said given zoom level, at least some of the stacked graphical objects (410a, 410b, 410c, 410d, 610a, 610b, 610c) upon user selection of the further graphical object, wherein the stacked, other, and further graphical.object have a visual representation being displayed when rendered, said visual representation being an image, and wherein said visual representation of said further graphical object being a visual representation of a graphical object being stacked in said further graphical object; cause display of said further graphical object (410) at the location representing, at said given zoom level, at least some of the stacked graphical objects (410a, 410b, 410c, 410d, 610a, 610b, 610c), and enabling a user to view, at said given zoom level, at least some of the stacked graphical objects (410a, 410b, 410c, 410d, 610a, 610b, 610c) upon user selection of the further graphical object, and display of other graphical objects; change said given zoom level to a further zoom level that is more zoomed in than the given zoom level; cause splitting up of the further graphical object (410) into a plurality of second further graphical objects that do not overlap with each other or with other graphical objects at said further zoom level.
  12. A device according to claim 11 wherein at least one of the second further graphical objects represents and enables a user to view, at said further zoom level, stacked graphical objects.
  13. A device according to claim 11 or 12, wherein the controller is configured to respond to user selection of the further graphical object (410) to cause display of a pop-up window that enables a user to view the at least some of the stacked graphical objects (410a, 410b, 410c, 410d, 610a, 610b, 610c) without changing the given zoom level.
  14. A device according to claim 13, wherein the controller is configured to enable scrolling of content of the popup window.
  15. A device (100,200) according to any one of claims 11 to 14, wherein one or more of: - the image of the visual representation of the stacked and/or other graphical object and/or further graphical object comprises a thumbnail of a photograph; - said visual representation of the further graphical object contains a number indicating the number of stacked graphical objects (410a, 410b, 410c, 410d, 610a, 610b, 610c); - the location represents at least some of the stacked graphical objects (410a, 410b, 410c, 410d, 610a, 610b, 610c) based on geographical coordinates of the at least some of the stacked graphical objects, a respective graphical object having a visual representation being a thumbnail of a photograph, the photograph having been taken at the geographical coordinates of the respective graphical object.

A device (100,200) according to claim 15, wherein said controller (300) is further configured to receive a selection command for the further graphical object and to display said visual representations of graphical objects (410a, 410b, 410c, 410d, 610a, 610b, 610c) stacked in said further graphical object in response thereto.
  17. A device (100,200) according to claim 16 wherein said controller (300) is configured to display said visual representations of said stacked graphical objects (410a, 410b, 410c, 410d, 610a, 610b, 610c) in a window and wherein said controller (300) is further configured to display one of said visual representations of said stacked graphical objects (410a, 410b, 410c, 410d, 610a, 610b,610c) in a first size and the other of said visual representations of said stacked graphical objects (410a, 410b, 410c, 410d, 610a, 610b, 610c) in a second size wherein said first size is larger than said second size.

A device (100,200) according to claim 11, wherein said further graphical object is associated with a set of geographical coordinates based on the geographical coordinates of the at least some of the graphical objects, a respective graphical object having a visual representation being a thumbnail of a photograph, the photograph having been taken at the geographical coordinates of the respective graphical object.

A device (100, 200) according to claim 11 wherein said controller (300) is configured to determine whether a graphical object overlaps another graphical object by determining if said graphical objects' (410a, 410b, 410c, 410d, 610a, 610b, 610c) visual representations would overlap when rendered.
  20. A device (100,200) comprising a controller (300) configured to: determine whether graphical objects (410a, 410b, 410c, 410d, 610a, 610b, 610c) to be displayed on a map at a given zoom level will overlap when the map (409) is displayed at said given zoom level, cause stacking of at least some of the graphical objects (410a, 410b, 410c, 410d, 610a, 610b, 610c) that have been determined to overlap at a location at the given zoom level to create a further graphical object (410) at the location representing, at said given zoom level, at least some of the stacked graphical objects (410a,410b, 410c, 410d, 610a, 610b, 610c), and enabling a user to view, at said given zoom, level, at least some of the stacked graphical objects (410a, 410b, 410c, 410d, 610a, 610b, 610c) upon user selection of the further graphical object, wherein a stacked, other, and further graphical object have a visual representation being displayed when rendered, said visual representation being an image, cause display of said further graphical object (410) at the location representing, at said given zoom level, at least some of the stacked graphical objects (410a, 410b, 410c, 410d, 610a, 610b, 610c), and enabling a user to view, at said given zoom level, at least some of the stacked graphical objects (410a, 410b, 410c, 410d, 610a, 610b, 610c) upon user selection of the further graphical object, and display of other graphical objects, wherein said controller (300) is further configured to receive a selection command for the further graphical object and to display said visual representations of graphical objects (410a, 410b, 410c, 410d, 610a, 610b, 610c) stacked in said further graphical object in response thereto; change said given zoom level to a further zoom level that is more zoomed in than the given zoom level; cause splitting up of the further graphical object (410) into a plurality of second further graphical objects that do not overlap with each other or with other graphical objects at said further zoom level.
  21. A device according to claim 20, wherein at least one of the second further graphical objects represents and enables a user to view, at said further zoom level, stacked graphical objects.
  22. A device according to claim 20 or 21, wherein the controller is configured to respond to user selection of the further graphical object (410) to cause display of a pop-up window that enables a user to view the at least some of the stacked graphical objects (410a, 410b, 410c, 410d, 610a, 610b, 610c) without changing the given zoom level.
  23. A device according to claim 22, wherein the controller is configured to enable scrolling of content of the popup window.
  24. A device (100,200) according to any one of claims 20 to 23, wherein one or more of: - the image of the visual representation of the stacked and/or other graphical object and/or further graphical object comprises a thumbnail of a photograph; - said visual representation of the further graphical object being a visual representation of a graphical object being stacked in said further graphical object; - said visual representation of the further graphical object contains a number indicating the number of stacked graphical objects (410a, 410b, 410c, 410d, 610a, 610b, 610c); - the location represents at least some of the stacked graphical objects (410a, 410b, 410c, 410d, 610a, 610b, 610c) based on geographical coordinates of the at least some of the stacked graphical objects, a respective graphical object having a visual representation being a thumbnail of a photograph, the photograph having been taken at the geographical coordinates of the respective graphical object.
  25. A device (100,200) according to claim 20, wherein said visual representation of said further graphical object being a visual representation of a graphical object being stacked in said further graphical object.
  26. A device (100,200) according to claim 20, wherein said controller (300) is configured to display said visual representations of said stacked graphical objects (410a, 410b, 410c, 410d, 610a, 610b, 610c) in a window and wherein said controller (300) is further configured to display one of said visual representations of said stacked graphical objects (410a, 410b, 410c, 410d, 610a, 610b,610c) in a first size and the other of said visual representations of said stacked graphical objects (410a, 410b, 410c, 410d, 610a, 610b, 610c) in a second size wherein said first size is larger than said second size.
  27. A device (100,200) according to claim 20, wherein said further graphical object is associated with a set of geographical coordinates based on the geographical coordinates of the at least some of the graphical objects, a respective graphical object having a visual representation being a thumbnail of a photograph, the photograph having been taken at the geographical coordinates of the respective graphical object.
  28. A device (100, 200) according to claim 20, wherein said controller (300) is configured to determine whether a graphical object overlaps another graphical object by determining if said graphical objects' (410a, 410b, 410c, 410d, 610a, 610b, 610c) visual representations would overlap when rendered.
  29. Method for controlling displaying a map (409)) on a display comprising: determining whether graphical objects (410a,410b, 410c, 410d, 610a, 610b, 610c) to be displayed on a map at a given zoom level will overlap when the map (409) is displayed at said given zoom level, causing stacking of at least some of the graphical objects (410a, 410b, 410c, 410d,610a,610b,610c) that have been determined to overlap at the given zoom level to create a further graphical object (410) representing, at said given zoom level, at least some of the stacked graphical objects (410a, 410b, 410c, 410d, 610a, 610b, 610c), and enabling a user to view, at said given zoom level, at least some of the stacked graphical objects (410a, 410b, 410c, 410d, 610a, 610b, 610c) upon user selection of the further graphical object, causing display of the further graphical object (410) representing, at said given zoom level, at least some of the stacked graphical objects (410a, 410b, 410c, 410d, 610a, 610b, 610c), and enabling a user to view, at said given zoom level, at least some of the stacked graphical objects (410a, 410b, 410c, 410d, 610a, 610b, 610c) upon user selection of the further graphical object, and display of other graphical objects; cause splitting up of the further graphical object (410) into a plurality of second further graphical objects that do not overlap with each other or with other graphical objects at said further zoom level.
  30. A method as claimed in claim 29, wherein user selection of the further graphical object (410) causes display of a pop-up window that enables a user to view the at least some of the stacked graphical objects (410a, 410b, 410c, 410d, 610a, 610b, 610c) without changing the given zoom level.
  31. A method as claimed in claim 30, wherein content of the popup window can be scrolled.
  32. A computer readable medium for controlling a device (100, 200) comprising a display and a processor, said computer readable medium comprising: software code adapted to enable the method of claim 29, 30 or 31.
