Der Vermischung von Ricinusöl mit Mineralschmierölen steht andererseits seine nahezu vollkommene Unlöslichkeit in diesen Ölen entgegen. Die Aufgabe, das Ricinusöl mit Mineralölen mischbar, d. h. in Mineralölen klar löslich zu machen, ist noch nicht zufriedenstellend gelöst worden.
