Der Apparat besteht aus einer hölzernen Kiste mit Schraube, Bürste und Steuereinrichtung.
Fig. ι zeigt die gegen das Schiff wendende Seite, Fig. 2 die aufwärts wendende Seite. Im
Hintertheil der Kiste ist eine Schraube α angebracht, welche durch ein Zahnräderwerk mit
der Bürste b, in deren Mitte eine eiserne, S-förmige Schrape c angebracht ist, in Verbindung
steht. Die Bürste ist von gewöhnlichen steifen Borsten angefertigt. Die Schrapen
c können durch Hülfe der Schrauben dd1, je wie die Bürste verbraucht wird, gestellt

werden; die letzteren können in die Seitenschaufel ausgezogen oder eingeschoben werden
