Description
Die Erfindung betrifft einen Hyperthermie-Mikrowellenapplika
tor zur Erwärmung einer begrenzten Umgebung in einem dissipa
tiven Medium, insbesondere zur Erwärmung kranken Gewebes im
menschlichen Körper.
Hyperthermie als Hirntumortherapie stellt besondere Anforde
rungen an das Behandlungssystem. Hoher Blutfluß, besondere
Temperaturempfindlichkeit des gesunden Gehirngewebes und
eingeschränkte chirurgische Möglichkeiten bei der Behandlung
des Tumors bedürfen eines Hyperthermiesystems, das besonders
kompakt ist und eine ausreichend hohe Wärmeenergiedeposition
in einem vorgegebenen bzw. begrenzten Gebiet im Gehirn zuläßt.
In der Patentanmeldung P 38 31 016.3 werden Hyperthermie-Mi
krowellenapplikatoren, Antennenanordnungen zur lokalen Erwär
mung in einem dissipativen Medium, dem tumorkranken menschli
chen Gewebe beschrieben. Dabei ermöglicht der Einbau von Lei
tungstransformatoren am Ende eines koaxialen Speisekabels für
eine Dipolantenne, daß es nur zur Erwärmung um die Dipol
antenne, nämlich dem kranken menschlichen Gewebe, kommt und
weniger entlang des Außenmantels des Speisekabels, nämlich dem
gesunden menschlichen Gewebe.
Die Hyperthermie-Mikrowellenapplikatoren wie in der Patentan
meldung P 38 31 016.3 beschrieben führen immer noch einen er
heblichen Anteil elektrischer Energie über den Außenleiter zu
rück, so daß es zu einer Erwärmung des dissipativen Mediums
kommt.
Der Erfindung liegt die Aufgabe zugrunde, die in der Patentan
meldung P 38 31 016.3 beschriebenen Applikatoren so in ihrem
Aufbau zu verbessern, daß die Erwärmung des dissipativen Me
diums um den Antennenbereich beschränkt bleibt.
Diese Aufgabe wird erfindungsgemäß durch die kennzeichnenden
Merkmale des Anspruchs 1 gelöst. Das Kennzeichnen des An
spruchs 2 löst die Aufgabe erfindungsgemäß für eine Monopolan
ordnung.
Die weiteren Unteransprüche beschreiben einen vorteilhaften
Einbau des Leitungstransformators vor der Antenne am Ende des
koaxialen Speisekabels.
Die mit der Erfindung erzielten Vorteile bestehen darin, daß
in der Tat nur noch das die Antenne umgebenede dissipative Me
dium erwärmt wird, nämlich dadurch, daß man jetzt einen defi
nierten komplexen Widerstand am Kabelende hat und so keinen
bzw. keinen nennenswerten Energierückfluß über den Außenmantel
des Speisekabels mehr hat.
Zwei Ausführungsbeispiele, nämlich der Hyperthermie-Mikrowel
lenapplikator als Dipolantenne und als Monopolantenne sind in
den Zeichnungen dargestellt und werden im folgenden näher be
schrieben.

Fig. 1 zeigt den Hyperthermie-Mikrowellenapplikator als Di
pol, der sich von dem in der Patentanmeldung P 38 31 016.3 be
schriebenen dadurch unterscheidet, daß der π/2-Transformator
getrennt ist von der unteren, mit dem Außenmantel des
Speisekabels verbundenen Dipolhälfte. Am oberen wie am unteren
Ende des von der Mitte E aus gespeisten Dipols ist der Strom
null. Der π/2-Transformator ist mit einem Dielektrikum
gefüllt. Bei vorgegebener Gesamtlänge und konstanten
Parametern von isolierendem Dielektrikum und umgebendem
dissipativem Medium ist der komplexe Widerstand dieser Antenne
konstant. Ein Rücklaufen von Energie über den Außenmantel des
Zuführungskabels zum HF-Generator und damit ein eventuelles
Aufheizen von dem das Speisekabel umgebenden, gesunden Gewebe
ist nicht möglich.
Fig. 2 zeigt die Dipolantenne gemäß Fig. 1, jedoch mit einem
π-Transformator. Hierbei wird offenes Leitungsende transfor
miert. Der mechanische Aufbau gestaltet sich noch einfacher
als bei der Dipolantenne nach Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 zeigt schematisch einen Hyperthermie-Mikrowellenappli
kator als Monopolantenne ausgebildet. Durch den π/2-Transfor
mator, der am Antenneneinspeisepunkt E endet, wird ein offenes
Leitungsende transformiert. Dieser Transformator transformiert
einen Kurzschluß an die Stelle der leitenden Fläche (siehe
hierzu Patentanmeldung P 38 31 016.3).
Um eine noch stärkere Konzentration der Energieabgabe erzielen
zu können, sind, wie in Fig. 4 gezeichnet, mehrere π/2-Trans
formatoren von der Einspeisestelle in Richtung Generator ko
axial um das Speisekabel angeordnet.
Diese Transformatoren unterdrücken zum HF-Generator
rücklaufende Restströme. In dieser Anordnung wird durch den
innenliegenden π/2-Transformator ein offenes Leitungsende
transformiert und durch den äußeren π/2-Transformator ein
kurzgeschlossenes.
Eine mit Fig. 4 vergleichbare Ausführung des Hyperthermie-Mi
krowellenapplikators zeigt die Monopolantenne in Fig. 5. Die
Transformatoren transformieren innen (π/2-Transformator) und
außen (π-Transformator) offene Leitungsenden.
In Fig. 6 ist der Hyperthermie-Mikrowellenapplikator als Mo
nopol mit inneren, Richtung Generator geschlossenem π-Trans
formator 5 dargestellt. Der geschlossene π-Transformator 5 ist
wiederum von einem beidseitig offenen π-Transformator 5 umge
ben.
Die erfindungsgemäßen Applikatoren zeigen, daß die Energieab
gabe sehr stark um die Einspeisestelle E bis zu der Antennen
spitze (Monopol) bzw. den Antennenspitzen (Dipol) konzentriert
ist. Entlang der koaxialen Speiseleitung bis zur Einspeise
stelle E gibt es keine bzw. nur noch eine vernachlässigbare
Erwärmung der Umgebung. Im Anwendungsfall bedeutet das
Schonung für das gesunde menschliche Gewebe.
Feldstärkemessungen um die erfindungsgemäße Dipolantenne, die
dazu in ein dissipatives Medium eingetaucht war, sind in Fig.
7 dargestellt. Die Zusammensetzung des Mediums ist in der Pa
tentanmeldung P 38 31 016.3 angegeben. Die komplexe Permitivi
tät entspricht der von Gehirngewebe. Die Linien in Fig. 6 be
schreiben Iso-SAR-Konturen (spezifische Absorptionsrate). Sie
sind in 10%-Stufen wiedergegeben. Die SAR ist ein Maß für die
pro Masse dissipatives Medium aufgenommene Leistung. Sie ist
dem Betragsquadrat der elektrischen Feldstärke proportional.
Die Einspeisung erfolgt in Punkt E der erfindungsgemäßen Di
polantenne. Die Speiseleitung zu der Antenne verläuft von
links vom Generator nach E zum Einspeisepunkt der Antenne,
parallel zur Abszisse.
Die geschlossenen SAR-Linien 7 zeigen die lokale Aufwärmung
des dissipativen Mediums um die Antenne, die im wesentlichen
dort beschränkt bleibt.

Claims (6)
1. Hyperthermie-Mikrowellenapplikator mit definierter, be
grenzter Verteilung des elektromagnetischen Feldes in Form
einer Dipol-Antenne, die auf dem Außenmantel des koaxialen
Speisekabels eine Umhüllung zur Veränderung der Impedanz
aufweist,
dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß
- - die separate Umhüllung unterhalb der mit dem Außenmantel verbundenen Dipolhälfte ein π/2-Transformator (4) ist, der mit einem vorbestimmten Dielektrikum gefüllt ist,
- - das nach außen hin isolierte System Dipolantenne - π/2 - Transformator koaxiales Speisekabel, mit dem hauptsächlich die Dipolantenne umgebenden dissipativen Medium einen definierten komplexen Widerstand bildet, und so eine Erwärmung des dissipativen Mediums unmittelbar auf eine vorgebbare Dipolumgebung beschränkbar ist und damit eine Erwärmung des dissipativen Mediums entlang des Außenmantels des Speisekabels nicht stattfindet.
2. Applikator nach Anspruch 1,
dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß
vor der mit dem Außenmantel der Speiseleitung verbundenen
Dipolhälfte koaxial zur HF-Speiseleitung ein π-Transforma
tor angebracht ist.
3. Abänderung des Applikators nach Anspruch 1 zu einem Mono
polapplikator,
dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß
an die Stelle der mit dem koaxialen Außenmantel verbundenen
Dipolhälfte ein π/2-Transformator angebracht ist, so daß
das nach außen isolierte System Monopolantenne π/2-Trans
formator - koaxiales Einspeisekabel mit dem hauptsächlich
die Dipolantenne umgebenden dissipativen Medium einen defi
nierten komplexen Widerstand bildet und so die Erwärmung
des dissipativen Mediums unmittelbar auf eine vorgebbare
Monopolumgebung beschränkbar ist und damit eine Erwärmung
des dissipativen Mediums entlang des Außenmantels des Spei
sekabels nicht stattfindet.
4. Applikator nach Anspruch 3,
dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß
zu dem π/2-Transformator zusätzlich ein zweiter π/2-Trans
formator koaxial dazu angebracht ist, wobei beide Transfor
matoren nur an der dem HF-Generator zugewandten Seite mit
einander verbunden sind.
5. Applikator nach Anspruch 3,
dadurch gekennzeichnet,daß
ein beidseitig offener π/2-Transformator koaxial zur HF-
Speiseleitung angebracht ist, wobei das eine offene Ende am
Einspeisepunkt E ist und das andere in Richtung HF-Gene
rator zeigt und dazu koaxial ein π-Transformator angebracht
ist.
6. Applikator nach Anspruch 3,
dadurch kekennzeichnet, daß
ein einseitig geschlossener π Transformator von einem
beidseitig offenen π Transformator umgeben ist.
