Claims (12)

1. Werkzeug (10; 10') zum Setzen von zum Verschließen des Markraums des Femurs oder anderer einen Markkanal aufwei­ sender Knochen bei der Implantation von Endoprothesen be­ stimmten, gegenüber dem Durchmesser des Markkanals mit Un­ termaß bemessener und so in den Markkanal einführbarer, durch axiales Einziehen eines Spreizelements im Durchmesser vergrößerbaren Markraum-Sperrern, welches wenigstens zwei langgestreckte, elastisch verbiegbare, koaxial und relativ zueinander längsverschieblich angeordnete Betäti­ gungselemente (18; 22; 22') aufweist, deren zusammen mit dem zu setzenden Markraum-Sperrer in den Markkanal einführ­ bare Vorderenden am äußeren im Durchmesser vergrößerbaren Teil des Markraum-Sperrers einerseits und am Spreizelement andererseits zum Angriff bringbar sind, während an ihrem rückwärtigen, aus dem Markkanal heraustretenden Ende ein von Hand betätigbarer Abzugsmechanismus (12) vorgesehen ist, welcher bei Betätigung eine axiale Verschiebung der Betätigungselemente (18; 22) relativ zueinander bewirkt, dadurch gekennzeichnet,
daß auf dem äußeren rohrförmigen Betätigungselement (18) ein langgestrecktes rohrförmiges und elastisch verbiegbares Aufnahmeelement (32) koaxial verschiebbar angeordnet ist, dessen lichter Innendurchmesser im wesentlichen gleich dem Außendurchmesser des Markraum-Sperrers in ungesetztem Aus­ gangszustand ist,
daß eine am rückwärtigen Ende des äußeren rohrförmigen Be­ tätigungselements (18) einerseits und dem rohrförmigen Auf­ nahmeelement (32) andererseits angreifende, den axialen Verschiebungsweg der beiden rohrförmigen Elemente im we­ sentlichen auf das Maß der axialen Längserstreckung des un­ gesetzten Markraum-Sperrers begrenzende Kupplungseinrich­ tung vorgesehen ist, und
daß die Länge des rohrförmigen Aufnahmeelements (32) so be­ messen ist, daß es in der vorgeschobenen Endstellung wenig­ stens um das Maß der Längserstreckung der ungesetzten Mark­ raum-Sperrers über das Vorderende des äußeren rohrförmigen Betätigungselements (18) vorsteht.

Werkzeug nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß der am Spreizelement eines Markraum-Sperrers zum Angriff bringbare vordere Endbereich des ebenfalls rohrförmig aus­ gebildeten inneren Betätigungselements (22) einen etwa dem lichten Durchmesser einer Längsbohrung im Spreizelement entsprechenden Durchmessers aufweist und durch eine Anzahl von Längsschlitzen in eine entsprechende Anzahl von ela­ stisch aufbiegbaren Zungen (27) unterteilt ist, und daß durch das innere rohrförmige Betätigungselement (22) ein biegsamer, in Längsrichtung jedoch im wesentlichen starrer Spreizbetätigungs-Draht (28) längsverschieblich hindurchge­ führt ist, der am rückwärtigen Ende mit einer Handhabe (30) versehen ist, mittels derer er in eine zwischen die Zungen (27) eingreifende vorgeschobenen Stellung und einer demge­ genüber aus dem Bereich der Zungen (27) zurückgezogenen Stellung verschieblich ist, wobei der Innendurchmesser des langgestreckten rohrförmigen inneren Betätigungselements (22) sich im Bereich der am inneren Ende gebildeten elasti­ schen Zungen (27) stetig verringert, so daß die Zungen beim Vorschieben des Spreizdrahts (28) elastisch aufgebogen werden und beim Zurückziehen wieder elastisch zurückfedern.

Werkzeug nach Anspruch 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die federnd aufbiegbaren Zungen (27) des inneren rohrförmi­ gen Betätigungselements (22) in dem in die Längsbohrung des Spreizelements eines Markraum-Sperrers einführbaren Bereich auf ihrer Außenseite mit vortretenden, im Querschnitt zuge­ spitzten Rippen, Vorsprünge oder anderen die Haftung an der Wandung der Bohrung des Spreizelements erhöhenden Aufrau­ hungen versehen sind.

Werkzeug nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 3, dadurch ge­ kennzeichnet, daß das äußere langgestreckte Betätigungs­ element (18) an seinem rückwärtigen Ende an dem Gehäuse des pistolenähnlich ausgebildeten Abzugsmechanismus (12) unver­ schieblich angeschlossen ist, und daß das rückwärtige Ende des inneren langgestreckten Betätigungselements (22; 22') an einem verschwenkbar im Gehäuse (14) des Abzugsmechanis­ mus (12) gelagerten Betätigungsgriff (16) angeschlossen ist, so daß bei einer Verschwenkung des Betätigungsgriffs (16) das innere langgestreckte Betätigungselement (22; 22') relativ zum äußeren Betätigungselement (18) axial verscho­ ben wird.

Werkzeug nach Anspruch 1 und 4, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß der am Spreizelement eines Markraum-Sperrers zum An­ griff bringbare vordere Endbereich des inneren langge­ streckten Betätigungselements (22') als Gewindeabschnitt (23) ausgebildet ist, dessen über die Spitzen der Gewinde­ gänge gemessene Außendurchmesser etwas größer als der lichte Innendurchmesser der im Spreizelement des Markraum- Sperrers vorgesehenen Längsbohrung ist, und daß das rück­ wärtige Ende des inneren Betätigungselements (22') wahl­ weise lösbar am Betätigungsgriff (16) angeschlossen ist.

Werkzeug nach Anspruch 4 oder 5, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß am inneren Ende des langgestreckten inneren Betäti­ gungselements (22; 22') ein Kugelkopf (25) vorgesehen ist, der in eine am freien Ende des gehäuseinneren Hebelarms des Betätigungsgriffs (16) vorgesehene Nut (27) mit verengter Mündung gehalten ist, die an ihrem freien Ende zum Einfüh­ ren des Kugelkopfs (25) offen ist.
7. Werkzeug nach Anspruch 6, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß der Kugelkopf (25) an einem gesonderten, auf den als Gewin­ deabschnitt (29) ausgebildeten gehäuseinneren Endabschnitt des inneren langgestreckten Betätigungselements (22; 22') aufgeschraubten Verbindungsstück (24) angeordnet ist.

Werkzeug nach einem der Ansprüche 4 bis 7, dadurch ge­ kennzeichnet, daß das äußere langgestreckte Betätigungsele­ ment (18) am Gehäuse (14) des Abzugsmechanismus (12) durch eine erste Kupplungsmuffe (20) abnehmbar befestigt ist, und daß auf der gehäuseabgewandten Seite der ersten Kupplungs­ muffe (20) eine ins Innere einer am rückwärtigen Ende des Aufnahmeelements (32) vorgesehenen zweiten Kupplungsmuffe (34) eingreifende rohrartige Verlängerung (36) vorgesehen ist, und daß die am rückwärtigen Ende des Aufnahmeelements (32) vorgesehene zweite Kupplungsmuffe (34) um das Maß des axialen Verschiebungswegs axial verschieblich auf der rohr­ förmigen Verlängerung (36) angeordnet und in den beiden Endstellungen gegen Verschiebung auf der rohrartigen Ver­ längerung (36) sperrbar gehaltert ist.

Werkzeug nach Anspruch 8, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß in der Außenseite der rohrartigen Verlängerung (36) der ersten Kupplungsmuffe (20) eine in Längsrichtung verlaufende Nut (38) vorgesehen ist, deren Länge gleich dem axialen Ver­ schiebungsweg gewählt ist, und daß von der die rohrartige Verlängerung (36) aufnehmenden Innenfläche der zweiten Kupplungsmuffe (34) ein Vorsprung in die Nut (38) vortritt.
10. Werkzeug nach Anspruch 9, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß an den Enden der in Längsrichtung verlaufenden Nut (38) je­ weils ein in Umfangsrichtung verlaufender kurzer Nutab­ schnitt (40a; 40b) anschließt.

Werkzeug nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 10, dadurch ge­ kennzeichnet, daß auf dem langgestreckten rohrförmigen Auf­ nahmeelement (32) eine Skalierung (42) vorgesehen ist, wel­ che die Einführtiefe in einen eröffneten Markkanal abzu­ lesen erlaubt, und daß auf dem Aufnahmeelement (32) ein im Durchmesser vergrößerter Anschlagring (44) längsverschieb­ lich und in wählbaren Verschiebungsstellungen festlegbar angeordnet ist.

Werkzeug nach Anspruch 11, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß im Anschlagring (44) eine radial durchgehende Gewindeboh­ rung vorgesehen ist, in welche der Gewindeschaft einer Klemmschraube (46) eingeschraubt ist, die an ihrem radial äußeren Ende mit einer Handhabe zum Drehen des Gewinde­ schafts versehen ist, so daß dessen radial inneres Ende in direkt oder indirekt klemmende Anlage an die Außenseite des rohrförmigen Aufnahmeelements (32) schraubbar ist.
