Die Erfindung bezieht sich auf ein Verfahren gemäß dem Gattungsbegriff des Anspruches 1.
Es ist bekannt, daß eine dünne Bahn aus einem Polyolefin, wie beschichtetem Polyäthylen, mit gutem
Erfolg auf eine dickere Substratbahn aus beispielsweise ^ Fasermaterial, wie z. B. Hartpappe, aufgeschweißt
werden kann. Die Substratbahn ist auf der der dünneren Bahn zugekehrten Oberfläche mit einem Polyolefin
beschichtet, das zum Verbinden beider Bahnen miteinander in einen klebrigen geschmolzenen Zustand ΓιΙ)
gebracht wird. Beide Bahnen bilden nach ihrer Verbindung miteinander eine Verbundbahn. Im allgemeinen
ist auf die Substratbahn aus Fasermaterial das Polyolefin in einer Dicke von beispielsweise 0,02 mm
aufgesprüht. Das befriedigt im allgemeinen dann, wenn Γ)Γ>
die dünnere Bahn Raumtemperatur hat und unter der Voraussetzung, daß die dünnere Bahn nicht dicker als
etwa 0,02 mm ist. Ist die dünnere Bahn dicker, so haftet sie in machen Bereiche!, schlecht auf der dickeren
Substratbahn und die Verbindung zwischen beiden h"
Bahnen ist bei einer Dicke der Bahn von mehr als etwa 0,07 mm überhaupt nicht mehr herstellbar. Das Problem
der Haftung zwischen beiden Bahnen ist dann besonders ernst, wenn eine Bahn aus Hochdruck-Polyäthylen
verwendet wird und wenn auch die Beschich- M tung der .Substratbahn aus Hochdruck-Polyäthylen
besteht. Der zut1 Herstellen der Schweißverbindung
zwischen der beiden Bahnen benötigte Druck wird im allgemeinen durch Preßwalzen bewirkt, weshalb die
Zeitdauer des Kontaktes zwischen den Preßwalzen und den Bahnen und damit die PreBdauer sehr kurz sind,
wenn nicht Preßwalzen mit extrem großem Durchmesser verwendet werden sollen.
Dem aus der Trägheit von beispielsweise Polyäthylen-Molekülen
resultierenden Problem bei zwei miteinander zu verbindenden beschichteten Gewebebahnen
wurde in bekannter Weise dadurch begegnet, daß die Beschichtung beider Gewebebahnen zum Schmelzen
gebracht und dann gegeneinander gepreßt wurden. Diese Technik kann aber dann nicht angewendet
werden, wenn eine Kunststoffbahn mit einer beschichteten Faserbahn verbunden werden soll, weil dabei das
Erhitzen der Kunststoffbahn, beispielsweise mit einer Gasflamme, unmittelbar stromaufwärts des Bereiches,
in dem beide Bahnen miteinander verbunden werden, die Kunststoffbahn verbrennen oder in einem solchen
Maße erweichen würde, daß sie nicht mehr von einer Vorratsrolle abgezogen werden könnte, ohne unzuläßig
gelängt zu werden. Aber auch wenn das Erhitzen der Kunststoffbahn mit einer Hitzequelle unmittelbar
stromaufwärts des Verbindungsbereiches theoretisch als durchführbar angesehen würde, würde die lange
Reaktionszeit bei dickem Hochdruck-Polyäthylen die Verbindung einer solchen Bahn mit einer Substratbahn
unmöglich sein lassen, wenn nicht die Vorschubgeschwirdigkeit der ständig in ihrer Längsrichtung
bewegten Bahnen sehr gering wäre, wodurch aber das Verfahren vom Standpunkt der industriellen Fertigung
her nicht interessant wäre.
Bekannt ist auch ein Verfahren zum Verschweißen einer einem ersten Speicher entnommenen Bahn mit
einer zweiten, einem zweiten Speicher entnommenen Bahn, wobei jede der Bahnen eine Oberfläche aus einem
Polyolefin aufweist, wobei die Oberfläche der ersten Bahn bis zum Klebrigwerden erhitzt und die Oberfläche
der zweiten Bahn auf eine vorbeslimmte Temperatur gebrach· wird und wobei schließlich diese beiden
Oberflächen zur Bildung einer Verbundfolie gegeneinander gepreßt werden; die vorbestimmte Temperatur
soll dabei so hoch sein, daß unter der Wirkung des Preßdruckes zwischen den beiden Oberflächen eine
dauerhafte Schweißverbindung entsteht (US-PS 37 83 062). Diese Wirkung wird aber mit dem bekannten
Verfahren nur dann erzielt, wenn die Erhitzung erheblich ist und der Anpreßdruck relativ lange wirkt.
Dies hat aber wiederum den Nachteil, daß die Bahnen zwar gut miteinander verbunden, aber infolge der hohen
Temperatur beschädigt und/oder infolge des hohen Druckes deformiert werden.
Ausgehend von diesem Stand der Technik liegt der Erfindung die Aufgabe zugrunde, ein Verfahren
aufzuzeigen, mit dem zwei Bahnen in dauerhafter Weise miteinander zu einer Verbundfolie verbunden werden
können, wenn die eine Bahn relativ dick ist mit einer Oberfläche aus Polyolefin, wie beispielsweise beschichtetes
Polyäthylen oder Polypropylen, und die andere Bahn eine Oberfläche aus Polyolefin hat. Es sollen dabei
jedoch im Gegensatz zum zuletzt genannten Stand der Technik Druck und Temperatur so dosiert werden
können, daß eine Beschädigung beider Bahnen, sei es durch einen im Hinblick auf die Beschaffenheit der
Bahnen zu hohen Druck, sei es durch eine zu hohe Temperatur, zuverlässig vermieden ist.
Diese Aufgabe wird erfindungsgemäß mit den Maßnahmendes Patentanspruchs I gelöst.
Bei einem Verfahren gemäß der Erfindung werden
die Moleküle des Polyolefins der Bahnen zunächst »aufgeweicht« oder aktiviert, ehe die beiden Bahnen
zum Verbinden zusammengebracht werden, und zwar so, daß sie sofort und unabhängig von rier Dicke der
Kunstsoffbahn auf die Zufuhr von Wärme zum Schmelzen bzw. Erweichen des Polyolefins reagieren.
Dadurch können beim Zusammenfügen beider Bahnen sowohl die benötigte Temperatur als auch der benötigte
Druck in Grenzen gehalten werden, in denen eine nachteilige Beeinflussung der Bahnen zuverlässig
vermieden ist.
Bei dem erfindungsgemäßen Verfahren soll in dessen weiterer Ausgestaltung bei Verwendung von Niederdruck-Polyäthylen
für die Polyolefinbahn die Höhe der Zwischentemperatur 50—95% der Schmelztemperatur
des Polyolefins entsprechen.
In der weiteren Ausgestaltung der Erfindung wird eine Vorrichtung vorgeschlagen, mit der das erfindungsgemäße
Verfahren durchgeführt werden kann.
Zum besseren Verständnis der Erfindung wird nachfolgend ein in der Zeichnung schematisch dargestelltes
Ausführungsbeisp'el einer Vorrichtung zum Herstellen einer Verbundfolie beschrieben.
Eine als Speicher 17 ausgebildete Heizkammer ist an ihren Wänden 18 mittels Isoliermaterials isoliert. Der 2~>
Speicher 17 weist eine nicht dargestellte Tür auf, durch die Vorratsrollen 1 mit einer Polyolefinbahn 2 in den
Speicher 17 eingebracht und aus diesem herausgenommen werden können. Innerhalb des Speichers 17 ist ein
elektrisch betriebenes Heizelement 19 angeordnet, J" mittels dem das Innere des Speichers 17 auf eine
Solltemperatur gebracht und über eine Zeitdauer auf dieser Solltemperatur gehalten werden kann. Die
Einstellung der Solltemperatur erfolgt mittels eines außerhalb des Speichers 17 angeordneten Thermosta- J->
ten 20. Vor dem Gebrauch der Polyolefinbahn 2 wird die Vorratsrolle 1 in den Speicher 17 gebracht und die
Sollterr.peratui im Inneren des Speichers 17 ist mittels des Thermostaten 20 auf eine Temperatur unterhalb der
Fließtemperatur des Polyolefins eingestellt, vorzugsweise auf eine Temperatur von 50 bis 95% der
Schmelztemperatur des Polyolefins. Die Vorratsrollen 1 werden so lange in dem Speicher 17 belassen, bis die
gesamte Polyolefinbahn 2 im wesentlichen die Temperatur hat, die in dem Speicher 17 herrscht, bei einer
0,2 mm dicken Polyolefinbahn 2 aus Hochdruckpolyäthylen beispielsweise 114°. Unmittelbar ehe die
Polyolefinbahn 2 mit einer Verbundbahn 4 verbunden werden soll, wird eine erwärmte Vorratsrolle 1 aus dem
Speicher 17 entnommen und in eine Laminiereinrich- r>(i
tung 23 eingesetzt. Die mit der Polyolefinbahn 2 zur Bildung einer Verbundfolie 22 zu verbindende Verbundbahn
4 ist auf eine Speicherspule 3 aufgewickelt, wobei die Verbundbahn 4 eine Papierbahn ist, beispielsweise
ein Hart- oder Packpapierliner, die auf ihrer bezüglich des Spulenzentrums außen liegenden Seite mit einer
Scliicht aus hochdichtem Polyäthylen beschichtet ist.
Die Verbundbahn 4 wird von der Speicherspule 3 aus über eine Führungsrolle 5 und eine Führungsrolle 6
geführt. Von der Führungsrolle 6 aus wird die Verbundbahn 4 einer Preßwalze 8 zugeführt. Zwischen
den beiden Führungsrollen 5 und 6 sind Heizelemente 9 und 10 angeordnet, denen die nötige Heizenergie von
einer Heizquelle 11 zugeführt wird. Die von den Heizelementen 9 und 10 abgegebene Hitze wird
kontinuierlich der Oberfläche der Verbundbahn 4 zugeführt, wobei die von den Heizelementen 9 und 10
abgewandte Polyäthylenschicht auf der anderen Seite der Papierbahn in einen klebrigen Zustand gebracht
wird.
Die erwärmte Polyolefinbahn 2 wird unter einer Führungsrolle 12 hindurchgeführt und von dort über die
Verbundbahn 4 auf die Preßwalze 8. Da die Oberfläche der Verbundbahn 4, die der Polyolefinbahn 2 zugekehrt
ist, sehr heiß ist, beispielsweise eine Temperatur von 150°C hat, und die Beschichtung geschmolzen ist, wird
durch Berührung ein guter Wärmeübergang zwischen den beiden Bahnen 2 und 4 erzielt und zwar von der
Verbundbahn 4 auf die Polyolefinbahn 2.
Die Polyolefinbahn 2 hat eine Temperatur von etwa 50 bis 12O0C, wenn sie um die Vorratsrolle 1 gewickelt
ist, wobei diese Temperatur von der Dicke der Polyolefinbahn 2 abhängig ist und im wesentlichen
unverändert auch dann noch vorliegt, wenn die Polyolefinbahn 2 die von der Preßwalze 8 und einer
Preßwalze 13 gebildete Preßstation erreicht. Bei dieser Temperatur hat die Polyolefinbahn 2 einen Zustand, daß
die Moleküle des Polyolefins sofort auf die Wärme reagieren, die von der Verbundbahn 4 aus übertragen
wird. Eine laminare Schicht auf der der Verbundbahn 4 zugekehrten Seite der Polyolefinbahn 2 beginnt deshalb
sofort zu schmelzen und wird mit der Beschichtung der Verbundbahn 4 verschweißt.
Anschließend an das Verschweißen der beiden Bahnen 2 und 4 miteinander zu einer Verbundfolie 22
wird diese einer Speichertrommel 16 zugeführt.
Wenn es aus irgend welchen Gründen zweckmäßig ist, das Laminieren zu unterbrechen, kann ein Heizkasten
21 um die Vorratsrolle 1 angeordnet werden, wenn diese sich in der Laminiereinrichtung 23 befindet, um
einen Temperaturabfall unter einen bestimmten Wert zu verhindern. Der Heizkasten 21 weist nicht dargestellte
Heizelemente auf, die den Heizelementen 19 entsprechen.
Claims (3)
1. Verfahren zum kontinuierlichen Herstellen einer Verbundfolie, bei dem eine aus einem Speicher
entnehmbare, von einer Vorratsrolle abwickelbare Bahn aus einem warmschmelzbaren Polyolefin
erwärmt wird, bei dem eine Verbundbahn mit einer Papierfaserschicht und einer Polyolefinschicht bis
zum Klebrigwerden des Polyolefin erhitzt wird und bei dem dann die Polyolefinbahn und die Verbundbahn
zusammengeführt und unter Anwendung von Druck verbunden werden, dadurch gekennzeichnet,
daß das Erwärmen der Polyolefinbahn vor dem Abwickeln von der Vorratsrolle und dem
Entnehmen aus dem Speicher auf eine unter der Schmelztemperatur des Polyolefins liegende Zwischentemperatur
erfolgt
7. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß bei Verwendung von Niederdruck-Polyäthylen
für die Polyolefinbahn die Höhe der Zwischentemperatur 50—95% der Schmelztemperatur
des Polyolefins entspricht.
3. Vorrichtung zur Durchführung des Verfahrens nach einem der Ansprüche 1 oder 2, mit einem
Speicher, einer Abwickeleinrichtung und einer Erwärmeinricruung für die auf einer Vorratsrolle
angelieferte Polyolefinbahn, mit einer Abwickeleinrichtung und einer Heizeinrichtung für die Verbundbahn
sowie mit einer Führungseinrichtung und einem Paar Preßwalzen zum Zusammenführen und
Zusammenpressen der Polyolefinbahn und der Verbundbahn, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die
Erwärmeinrichtung dem Speicher (17) und der Abwickeleinrichtung zugeordnet ist zum Erwärmen
der Polyolefinbahn (2) auf eine Zwischentemperatur vor dem Abwickeln von der Vorratsrolle (1).
