Description
Fremgangsmåte og apparat til fremstilling av en laminert konstruksjon.
Den foreliggende oppfinnelse angår en fremgangsmåte til fremstilling av en laminert konstruksjon fra to baner som begge har en overflate som omfatter en polyalkenharpiks.
Det er kjent at en tynn bane av polyalkenharpiks, f.eks. HD-polyeten, med hell kan bindes til en tykkere bane av f.eks. et fibermateriale såsom kraftpapir med en overflate av polyalkenharpiks for å danne et laminat ved at overflaten bringes til en klebrig eller smeltet tilstand og banene bindes sammen. Banene av fibermateriale blir vanligvis sprøytet med et varmesmeltbart plastmateriale til en beleggtykkelse av f.eks. 0,02 mm. Dette er stort sett tilfredsstillende når temperaturen av den tynne poly-alkenbane eller folie svarer til værelsetemperatur, såfremt tykkelsen av folien ikke overstiger ca. 0,02 mm. Hvis tykkelsen av folien er større enn dette, vil bindingen på visse områder av laminatet være dårlig, mens der overhodet ikke fås noen binding hvis tykkelsen overstiger ca. 0,07 mm. Problemet med bindingen er spesielt alvorlig når der anvendes polyalkenplaster av HD-typen i folien og eventuelt også i belegget på fiberbanen. HD-polyeten, som fremstilles ved relativt lave trykk under anvendelse av en katalysator, omfatter kjeder av molekyler, men relativt få forgreninger. HD-polyeten er relativt stivt og usedvanlig motstandsdyktig overfor f.eks»oljer og oppløsningsmidler, og laminater omfattende HD-polyetenfolie har derfor et usedvanlig stort anvendelsesområde. Hittil har det ikke vært mulig å utnytte de gode egenskaper av denne plast når en relativt tykk folie er nødvendig, som følge av vanskelighetene med å binde en folie av et slikt plastmateriale til en fiberbane eller f.eks. til en annen relativt tykk folie, hvis bindingen mellom de to baner skal bevirkes raskt, f.eks. med en hastighet på 0,5 m pr. sekund. Det trykk som er nødvendig for å forbinde banene, skaffes vanligvis av trykkvalser, og med mindre der anvendes valser med usedvanlig store diametre, vil den strekning som to baner holdes i berøring med hinannen av valsene, og dermed pressetiden være meget kort. Det forhold at en bane av HD-polyeten med en tykkelse på over ca. 0,02 mm og en temperatur svarende til værelsetemperatur ikke kan forbinde seg med et smeltet skikt av polyeten eller et skikt av et annet polyalken, menes å skyldes en iboende "treghet" av molekylene. Denne "treghet" gir seg uttrykk i at skiktet er ute av stand til å smelte før der er gått en viss tid etter tilføring av varme til skiktet, og denne reaksjonstid øker med tykkelsen av plastfolien. Når en polyetenfolie med liten tykkelse, f.eks. 0,01 mm, presses mot et smeltet skikt på f.eks. en fiberbane med en temperatur på f.eks. 130° C, vil varme bli overført fra belegget til plastfolien, og som følge av den lille tykkelse av folien vil der fåes smelting i et skikt. De to baner bindes fast sammen i løpet av den tid der utøves et trykk. Hvis imidlertid en tykk polyetenfolie hvis temperatur svarer til værelsetemperatur, påføres det smeltede belegg, vil reaksjonstiden av molekylene i folien være så lang og den opptatte varmemengde så stor at der ikke finner sted noen smelting i løpet av den tid trykket utøves, hvorved det blir umulig å oppnå en binding.
Dette problem med tregheten av f.eks. polyetenmolekyler når to belagte fiberbaner skal bindes sammen, er blitt overvunnet ved smelting av beleggene på de to fiberbaner og etterfølgende pressing av disse mot hinannen. Denne fremgangsmåte kan imidlertid ikke anvendes når en plastfolie skal bindes til f.eks. en belagt fiberbane, idet oppvarmning av plastfolien med f.eks. en gassflamme umiddelbart foran bindingssonen til fiberbanen medfører en så
sterk brenning eller mykning av plastfolien at den ikke kan trekkes av fra en lagerrull uten å strekkes. Selv om oppvarmning med en gassflamme eller en annen egnet varmekilde umiddelbart foran bindingssonen er teoretisk tenkelig, vil den lange reaksjonstid av tykt HD-polyeten gjøre det umulig å binde de to baner sammen med mindre banene har en meget lav matningshastighet, noe som medfører at fremgangsmåten er uten interesse fra et industrielt synspunkt.
Det er derfor en hensikt med den foreliggende oppfinnelse
å skaffe en ny og fordelaktig fremgangsmåte til laminering av relativt tykke baner med en overflate av polyalken, f.eks. HD-polyeten eller HD-polypropen, til en ytterligere bane med en polyalken-overflate. Denne nye fremgangsmåte er nærmere bestemt basert på en teknikk hvor molekylene "vekkes" eller aktiveres lenge før banene bindes sammen på en slik måte at de øyeblikkelig vil
reagere på varme som tilføres for smelting av plasten, uansett hvor tykk plastfolien er.
Den foreliggende oppfinnelse går således ut på en fremgangsmåte til binding av en første bane som føres av fra en første lagerrull, til en annen bane som føres av fra en annen lagerrull, idet hver av banene har en polyalkenharpiksoverflate,karakterisertved at overflatene av den første bane oppvarmes til en klebrig eller smeltet tilstand, at overflatene av den annen bane oppvarmes til en gitt temperatur, og at overflatene presses sammen for dannelse av et laminat, idet den gitte temperatur er av en slik størrelse at overflatene når de presses sammen, vil forbindes slik at der dannes en praktisk talt permanent binding mellom dem.
Oppfinnelsen omfatter også et apparat til utførelse av fremgangsmåten,karakterisert vedat det omfatter en lagerinnretning for den første bane, en lagerinnretning for den annen bane, første avtrekningsorganer til å trekke den første bane av fra den første lagerinnretning og føre den til en sammenbindingsstasjon, andre avtrekningsorganer til å trekke den annen bane av fra den annen lagerinnretning og føre den til sammenbindingsstasjonen, første oppvarmningsorganer til å varme opp polyalken-overflaten av den første bane til klebrig eller smeltet tilstand, andre oppvarmningsorganer som er anordnet foran sammenbindingsstasjonen for oppvarming av polyalkenoverflaten av den annen bane til en gitt temperatur,
og innretninger til å bringe de oppvarmede overflater til sammen-bindende berøring med hinannen, idet den gitte temperatur er av en slik størrelse at der når overflatene bringes sammen, vil fås en praktisk talt permanent binding mellom overflatene.
For å gjøre det lettere å forstå oppfinnelsen og for å forklare ytterligere trekk ved denne vil oppfinnelsen i det følgende bli nærmere beskrevet under henvisning til tegningen, som skjematisk viser en utførelsesform for et apparat til utførelse av fremgangsmåten ifølge oppfinnelsen.
På tegningen er der vist et varmeskap eller -varmerom 17 hvis vegger alle er isolert av isolasjonsmateriale 18. Skapet eller rommet 17 har en dør (ikke vist) som lagerruller 1 kan settes inn og tas ut gjennom. I skapet 17 er der anordnet et f.eks. elektrisk varmeelement 19 til oppvarmning av skapets indre til den ønskede temperatur. Temperaturen kan innstilles ved hjelp av en termostat 20 som er anbragt utenpå skapet. Før plastfolien skal benyttes blir lagerrullen 1 anbragt i varmeskapet og temperaturen i det indre av skapet innstilt ved hjelp av termostaten 20 på en slik måte at det indre av skapet har en temperatur under smeltepunktet for plast-materialet. Temperaturen innstilles fortrinnsvis på en vardi svarende til 50-95 % av materialets smeltepunkt. Lagerrullene 1 holdes i skapet inntil hele foliematerialet praktisk talt har oppnådd temperaturen i skapet 17, f.eks. 114° C for en tykk (0,2 mm) folie av HD-polyalken. Umiddelbart før folien skal bindes til en annen bane, som kan være en fiberbane, blir en oppvarmet lagerrull 1 fjernet fra skapet og montert i lamineringsmaskinen. Den oppvarmede lagerrull 1 inneholder en plastbane 2 som f.eks. utgjøres av en bane av HD-polyeten. Den bane som skal bindes til banen 2 for fremstilling av laminatet, er viklet på en lagerrull 3, og i eksempelet på tegningen forutsettes det at denne bane er en papirhane 4 av f.eks. kraftpapir. På den utadvendende overflate av papirhanen 4 er der påført et plastskikt, f.eks. et skikt av HD-polyeten.
Papirbanen 4 løper fra lagerrullen 3 over en frittløpende valse 5 og videre til en frittløpende valse 6. Fra denne valse beveger papirbanen 4 seg videre til en ytterligere frittløpende valse 8. I den viste utførelsesform er der mellom de to valser 5
og 6 anordnet to varmeelementer 9 og 10 som får tilført energi fra en energikilde 11. Varmeelementene 9 og 10 kan omfatte elektriske motstandselementer som er innrettet til å oppvarmes til rødglød, eller gassbrennere. Varme tilføres jevnt til den overflate av papirbanen 4 som vender mot elementene 9 og 10, og det på motsatte side liggende plastskikt blir derved bragt i klebrig tilstand. Skjønt det er mulig å tilføre varmen direkte til plastskiktet, foretrekkes det å oppvarme skiktet gjennom papirbanen,
idet en større varmemengde på denne måte akkumuleres.
Den varme bane 2 av plastfolie passerer under en frittløpende valse 12 og videre over papirbanen 4 på valsen 8. Da den overflate av papirbanen 4 som vender mot plastbanen, er meget varm og f.eks. har en temperatur på 150°C og plastskiktet således er smeltet, fås der god varmeovergangsberøring mellom de to baner, slik at varme overføres til folien 2 fra den med belegg forsynte papirhane 4. Selv om belegget på papirbanen 4 ikke er vist, dreier det seg om
et kontinuerlig belegg som dekker hele overflaten av banen.
Foliebanen 2, som i oppviklet tilstand på lagerrullen 1 har en temperatur på f.eks. 50-120° avhengig av tykkelsen av foliebanen, og som har hovedsakelig samme temperatur når den når pressestasjonen 8, 13, er i en slik tilstand at molekylene i materialet reagererøyeblikkelig på den varme som overføres fra papirbanen 14 og belegget på denne. Et tynt skikt på den side som vender mot papirbanen, begynner derfor straks å smelte og sveises sammen med belegget på papirbanen 4.
Praktiske forsøk har vist at en perfekt binding av de to baner oppnås selv når folietoanen utgjøres av et HD-polyeten med en tykkelse på 0,125 mm og fremføringshastigheten er 1 m pr. sekund, når begynnelsestemperaturen av plastfolien er ca. 100° når den møter banen 4.
Etter sammensveising av de to baner føres de til en opp-viklingsinnretning 16 eller direkte til en viderebehandlingsmaskin.
Hvis laminatet av en eller annen grunn skal fremstilles med avbrudd, kan det være ønskelig å anordne en'varmekasse eller lignende rundt rullen av folie i lamineringsmaskinen for derved å hindre temperaturen i å falle til et uønsket lavt nivå. En slik kasse kan være forsynt med et oppvarmningselement av samme type som varmeelementet 19. En slik varmekasse er vist på tegningen ved 21. Hvis forvarmingen av rullen 1 ikke er tilstrekkelig, er det også mulig å tilføre den nødvendige ytterligere varmeenergi til folien ved f.eks. å varme opp valsen 12 til en slik temperatur at folien, når den forlater valsen 12, har den nødvendige temperatur til å
gi perfekt binding til banen 4.
Det skal videre bemerkes at plastfolien 2 selv kan være
et laminat. For eksempel kan folien være et ark av aluminiumfolie som har fått påført et plastskikt av den ovenfor nevnte art. Aluminiumfolien er i dette tilfelle naturligvis anordnet på den side av plastskiktet som vender bort fra banen 4. Den nødvendige varme til å bringe plastfolien opp i ønsket temperatur kan tilføres ved hjelp av et elektrisk felt som frembringer virvelstrømmer i aluminiumfolien for oppvarmning av denne og dermed plastfolien.
Claims (10)
1. Fremgangsmåte til binding av en første bane som føres av fra en første lagerrull, til en annen bane som føres av fra en annen lagerrull, idet hver av banene har en polyalkenharpiks-overflate, karakterisert ,ved at overflatene av den første bane oppvarmes til en klebrig eller smeltet tilstand, at overflatene av den annen bane oppvarmes til en gitt temperatur, og at overflatene presses sammen for dannelse av et laminat, idet den gitte temperatur er av en slik størrelse at overflatene når de presses sammen, vil forbindes slik at der dannes en praktisk talt permanent binding mellom dem.
2. ' Fremgangsmåte som angitt i krav 1, karakterisert ved at den første bane omfatter et fibermateriale med en overflate av polyalkenharpiks, og at den annen bane består av en folie av polyalkenharpiks.
3. Fremgangsmåte som angitt i krav 1, karakterisert ved at den første bane omfatter et aluminiummateriale med en polyalkenharpiks-overflate, og at den annen bane omfatter en folie av polyalkenharpiks.

og at overflaten av den annen bane bringes på en temperatur av 50-95 % av harpiksens smeltetemperatur.
6. Fremgangsmåte som angitt i et av kravene 1-5, karakterisert ved at overflaten av den annen bane oppvarmes til den gitte temperatur mens den er viklet opp på den annen lagerrull.

av kravene 1-7, karakterisert ved at det omfatter en lagerinnretning.for den første bane, en lagerinnretning for den annen bane, første avtrekningsorganer til å trekke den første bane av fra den første lagerinnretning og føre den til en sammenbindings-stas jon, andre avtrekningsorganer til å trekke den annen bane av fra den annen lagerinnretning og føre den til sammenbindingsstasjonen, første oppvarmningsorganer til å varme opp polyalkenoverflaten av den første bane til klebrig eller smeltet tilstand, andre oppvarmningsorganer som er anordnet foran forbindelsesstasjonen for oppvarmning av polyalkenoverflaten av den annen bane til en gitt temperatur, og innretninger til å bringe de oppvarmede overflater til sammen-bindende berøring med hinannen, idet den gitte temperatur er av en slik størrelse at der når overflatene bringes sammen, vil fåes en praktisk talt permanent binding mellom overflatene.
