Description
Additive als Schmieröle, insbesondere für Verbrennungsmotoren, zum Zwecke Dispergicrvemiögcn und
Anliabriebeigenschaften zu verleihen, wurden bereits bisher verwendet. Es besteht jedoch ein Bedarf an
Additiven, die keine festen Rückstände oder Asche -m
bilden, d. h., nach den so bezeichneten aschelosen Dispergicrmilteln.
Die Mannich-Kondensationsproduktc, wie kohlenwasserstoffsubstituicrtc
Phenole, Aldehyde und reaktionsfähige Amine mit hohem Molekulargewicht, sind -r>
als »Detergent-Dispersant-Additive« bekannt. Ihre Herstellung und Verwendung ist beispielsweise in den
US-Patentschriften 33 68 972, 35 39 633, 36 49 229 und 34 13 374 beschrieben. Auch ist aus der US-PS 32 80 097
ein Reaktionsprodukt bekannt, das man durch Umset- -,o
zen der oben beschriebenen Mannich-Kondensationsprodukte mit Alkylenoxiden erhält, wobei diese
Produkte weniger Lagerkorrosion hervorrufen, wenn sie in Schmieröl verwendet werden. Schließlich sind aus
der US-PS 33 89 086 »Detergent-Dispersant-Addilive« γ,
für Schmiermittel bekannt, die das Reaktionsprodukt eines Epoxyharzes mit einem hydrolysierten Polyolefin-P_
>S-, und einem Amin sind.
Die Erfindung betrifft nun ein Verfahren zur Herstellung verbesserter Additive, nämlich phosphor- ω
haltiger modifizierter kohlenwasserstoffsubstituicrter Phenole mit hohem Molekulargewicht (d. h. einem
Molekulargewicht über 650), bei dem man
(A) einen Molleil eines aliphatischen kohlenwasscrstoffsubsiituieiicn Phenols, worin der Kohlenwas- hr> serstoffsiibstituent ein durchschnittliches Molekulargewicht von b50 bis 1JOOO hat, mil I bis 10 Molteilen eines Aldehyds mil· I bis 4 Kohlenstoffatomen und 0,1 bis 10 Molteilen Ammoniak und/oder Amine mit wenigstens einer HN-Gruppc und mit I bis 20 Kohlenstoffatomen unter Bildung eines Mannich-Kondcnsationsprodukts umsetzt,
(B) das Kondensationsprodukt mit 0,1 bis 50 Molleilen Alkylenoxid, das 2 bis 6 Kohlenstoffalomc enthält, unter Bildung eines alkoxylierten Produkts umsetzt. Das Verfahren ist dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man das alkoxylierte Produkt mit 0,05 bis 1 Moltcil PjS-, bei Temperaturen von 50 bis 200° C umsetzt.
Typische uliphatischc kohlenwasserstoffsubsiituicrte Phenole mit hohem Molekulargewicht, die beim Verfahren dieser Erfindung zur Herstellung der Ausgangsprodukte brauchbar sind, können dadurch hergestellt worden sein, daß man Phenol mit einem Polyolefin mil einem durchschnittlichen Molekulargewicht (Mn) von 650 bis 5000 unter Verwendung eines BFi-Katalysators in Form eines Phenats umsetzt. Das Ausgangsphenol kann mit solchen Gruppen, wie Alkyl-, Aryl-, Halogen- oder Mercaptogruppen, substituiert sein, und es kann ein Phenol mit Brückenbindung, wie Phenole mit Methylen-, Sulfid- oder Oxidbrücken, sein, solange reaktionsfähige ortho- oder para-Stcllungen zum Eintritt in eine Mannich-Kondcnsation zur Verfügung stehen. Ein besonders bevorzugter Polyolefinsubstituent hat ein Mn von 850 bis 1500. Besonders brauchbare Polyolefine sind die Homopolymerisate und Mischpolymerisate von Niedrigmonoolcfincn, wie Äthylen, Propylen und Isobutylen. Es gehören daher zu brauchbaren aliphatischen Kohlenwasserstoffsubstituenten Polyäthylen, Polypropylen und Polybutensubstituenten mit einem Mn von 650 bis 5000. Zu brauchbaren Mischpolymerisatsubstituenten gehören Äthylen-Propylenmischpolymerisate, Äthylen-Propylen-Isobutylenterpolymerisate, Äthylen-Isobutylenmischpolymerisate oder Propylen-Isobutylenmischpolymerisate. Die besonders bevorzugten kohlcnwasserxtoffsubstituicrten Phenole sind Polybuten und polypropylcnsubstituierte Phenole.
(A) einen Molleil eines aliphatischen kohlenwasscrstoffsubsiituieiicn Phenols, worin der Kohlenwas- hr> serstoffsiibstituent ein durchschnittliches Molekulargewicht von b50 bis 1JOOO hat, mil I bis 10 Molteilen eines Aldehyds mil· I bis 4 Kohlenstoffatomen und 0,1 bis 10 Molteilen Ammoniak und/oder Amine mit wenigstens einer HN-Gruppc und mit I bis 20 Kohlenstoffatomen unter Bildung eines Mannich-Kondcnsationsprodukts umsetzt,
(B) das Kondensationsprodukt mit 0,1 bis 50 Molleilen Alkylenoxid, das 2 bis 6 Kohlenstoffalomc enthält, unter Bildung eines alkoxylierten Produkts umsetzt. Das Verfahren ist dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man das alkoxylierte Produkt mit 0,05 bis 1 Moltcil PjS-, bei Temperaturen von 50 bis 200° C umsetzt.
Typische uliphatischc kohlenwasserstoffsubsiituicrte Phenole mit hohem Molekulargewicht, die beim Verfahren dieser Erfindung zur Herstellung der Ausgangsprodukte brauchbar sind, können dadurch hergestellt worden sein, daß man Phenol mit einem Polyolefin mil einem durchschnittlichen Molekulargewicht (Mn) von 650 bis 5000 unter Verwendung eines BFi-Katalysators in Form eines Phenats umsetzt. Das Ausgangsphenol kann mit solchen Gruppen, wie Alkyl-, Aryl-, Halogen- oder Mercaptogruppen, substituiert sein, und es kann ein Phenol mit Brückenbindung, wie Phenole mit Methylen-, Sulfid- oder Oxidbrücken, sein, solange reaktionsfähige ortho- oder para-Stcllungen zum Eintritt in eine Mannich-Kondcnsation zur Verfügung stehen. Ein besonders bevorzugter Polyolefinsubstituent hat ein Mn von 850 bis 1500. Besonders brauchbare Polyolefine sind die Homopolymerisate und Mischpolymerisate von Niedrigmonoolcfincn, wie Äthylen, Propylen und Isobutylen. Es gehören daher zu brauchbaren aliphatischen Kohlenwasserstoffsubstituenten Polyäthylen, Polypropylen und Polybutensubstituenten mit einem Mn von 650 bis 5000. Zu brauchbaren Mischpolymerisatsubstituenten gehören Äthylen-Propylenmischpolymerisate, Äthylen-Propylen-Isobutylenterpolymerisate, Äthylen-Isobutylenmischpolymerisate oder Propylen-Isobutylenmischpolymerisate. Die besonders bevorzugten kohlcnwasserxtoffsubstituicrten Phenole sind Polybuten und polypropylcnsubstituierte Phenole.
Der aliphatische Kohlenwasserstoffsubslituent ist im
wesentlichen gesättigt, kann aber eine geringe Menge, bis zu etwa 5 Gew.-%, ungesättigte Kohlenstoff-Kohlenstoffbindungen
enthalten. Diese liegen vor, wenn der Polyolefinsubstituent von einem Gemisch von Niedrigolefinen
abstammt, die eine geringe Menge Dien, wie 1,3-Butadien oder 2-Methyl-1,3-butadien enthalten.
Weiterhin sind geringe Mengen Nicht-Kohlenwasserstoffsubs'.ituenten
an dem aliphatischen Substituentcn, wie Mercapto-, Sulfid-, Disulfid-, Hydroxid-, Chloridsubstituenten
nicht schädlich, sofern sie nicht 5% des Kohlenwasserstoffsubstituenten übersteigen und den
wesentlichen Kohlenwasserstoffcharakter nicht beeinträchtigen.
Zu geeigneten Aldehyden gehören Formaldehyd, Acetaldehyd, Propionaldehyd, Butyraldehyd und Isobutyraldehyd.
Der besonders bevorzugte Aldehyd ist Formaldehyd einschließlich Formaldehyd bildenden
Materialien, wie Paraformaldehyd.
Ammoniak oder irgendein Amin aus dem breiten Bereich der Amine mit 1 bis 20 Kohlenstoffatomen kann
verwendet werden. Es ist nur erforderlich, daß das Amin wenigstens eine HNC-Gruppe enthält, so daß diese in
die allgemein bekannte Mannich-Kondensationsreuktion eintreten kann. Derartige Amine können nur
primäre Aminogruppen, nur sekundäre Aminogruppen oder sowohl primäre als auch sekundäre Aminogruppen
enthalten. Zu typischen Aminen gehören die Polyalkylenpolyamine, Äthylendiamin, Propylendiamin, Polyal-
kylenpolyamine, aromatische Amine einschließlich o-, in- und p-Phenylendiaminen, !^aminonaphthaline und
säuresubstituierte Polyalkylenpolyamine, wie N-Acetyltetraäthylenpenlamin
und die entsprechenden Formyl-, Propionyl-, Butyryl-N-substituicrten Verbindungen, r>
Weiterhin gehören hierzu die daraus gebildeten /yklisierten Verbindungen, wie die N-Alkylamine von
Imidazolidin und Pyrimidin. Geeignete sekundäre hetcrozyklische Amine sind solche, die dadurch
gekennzeichnet sind, daß in der heterozyklischen in
Gruppe ein Wasserstoffatom mit einem Stickstoffatom verbunden ist. Zu typischen vorgesehenen zyklischen
Aminen gehören Morpholin, Thiomorpholin, Pyrrol, Pyrrolin, Pyrrolidin, Indol, Pyrazol, Pyrazolin, Pyrazolidin,
Imidazol, Imidazolin, Imidazolidin, Piperidin, Piper- n azin, Phenoxa^in, Phenthiazin und ihre mit Alkyl-, Aryl-,
Alkaryl-, Aralkyl-, Cycloalkylgruppcn substituierten Analogen.
Zu typischen Beispielen gehören Methylamin, Dimeihylamin,
Äthylamin, Diäthylamin, N-Propylamin, Isobu- _>o
tylamin, N-Hexylamin, 2-Äthylhexylamin, N-Decylamin,
N-Dodceylainin, N-Eicoxylamin, Äthylendiamin,
1,3-Propandiamin, Tetraäthylenpentamin, 1,6-Hexandiamin,
Piperidin, Piperazin, Cyclohexylamin, Anilin, Phenylendiamin und N-Isopropylphenylendiamin. 2;
Eine besonders bevorzugte Klasse an Aminreaktionspartnern sind die Alkylcnpolyamine der Formel

worin /7 eine ganze Zahl von I bis 6 und Ri eine zweiwertige Kohlenwasserstoffgruppe mit 2 bis 4
Kohlenstoffatomen, insgesamt jedoch mit maximal 20 Kohlenstoffatomen, ist. Diese Verbindungen und das
Verfahren zu ihrer Herstellung sind eingehend in π Kirk-Othmer, Encyclopedia of Chemical Technology,
Band 5, Seiten 898 — 899, Interscience Publishers, Inc., New York, beschrieben. Zu solchen Verbindungen
gehören die Äthylendiamin-, Diäthylentriamin-,Triäthylentetramin-,
Tetraäthylenpentamin- und Pentaäthylenhexaminreihen. Von diesen Alkylenpolyaminen ist ein
besonders bevorzugter Reaktionspartner Tetraäthylenpentamin oder ein Gemisch, das hauptsächlich Tetraäthylenpentamin
enthält oder eine dem Tetraäthylenpentamin entsprechende Durchschnittszusammenset- r>
zung hat. Ein weiteres besonders bevorzugtes Alkylenpolyamin ist Diäthylentriamin oder ein Gemisch von
Alkylenpolyaminen mit einer im wesentlichen dem Diäthylentriamin entsprechenden Durchschnittszusammensetzung.
Entsprechende Propylenpolyamine, wie Propylendiamin, Dipropylentriamin, Tripropylentetraiiiin
und Tetrapropylenpentainin sind ebenso geeignet.
Eine weitere bevorzugte Klasse von Aminreaktionspartnern sind die Ν,Ν-Dialkylalkandiamine. Diese
Verbindungen haben die Formel: T1

worin R) eine zweiwertige Niedrigalkangruppe mit 2 bis
b Kohlenstoffatomen ist und die Reste Ri und Ri,
unabhängig voneinander, Ci - d-Alkylgruppen sind. Zu
typischen Beispielen gehören N.N-Dimethyl-IJ-propandiamin,
N,N-Diäthyl-l,2-äthandiamin und Ν,Ν-Di-iibutyl-l,6-hexandiamin.
Eine weitere brauchbare Klasse von Aminreaktionspartnern sind die Alkanolamine. Diese sind primäre
oder sekundäre Amine mit wenigstens einer Alkanolgruppe, die mit dein Aminstickstoffatom verbunden ist.
Die Alkanolgruppen enthalten 2 bis etwa 6 Kohlcnstoffiitonic.
Diese Verbindungen weisen die allgemeine Formel auf:

worin R-, eine Alkanolgruppc, vorzugsweise mit 2 bis b
Kohlenstoffatomen und Rb Wasserstoff, Niedrigalkylgruppen
mit 1 bis 4 Kohlenstoffatomen und/oder Alkanolgruppen mit 2 bis δ Kohlenstoffatomen ist.
Typische Beispiele sind Äthanolamin, Diäthanolamin, Äthanolmethylamin, Hexanolamin und Dihexanolamin.
Von diesen sind die bevorzugten Amine die Äthanolaminc wie Diäthanolamin.
Zu Alkylenoxiden gehören solche mit 2 bis 6 Kohlenstoffatomen, wie Äthylenoxid, Propylenoxid,
1,2-Butenoxid, Isobutylenoxid und 1,2-Hexenoxid.
Die Reaktionstemperatur der bekannten Kondensationsstufe kann über einen weiten Bereich variieren. Es
ist nur erforderlich, daß die Temperatur hoch genug ist, um zu bewirken, daß die Reaktion in einer vernünftigen
Geschwindigkeit abläuft, aber nicht so hoch ist, daß thermischer Abbau verursacht wird. Ein brauchbarer
Temperaturbereich ist etwa 50 bis 250°C. Häufig wird der Einleitungsteil der Reaktion bei der unteren Grenze
dieses Temperaturbereichs durchgeführt und das Gemisch allmählich auf über 1000C bis zum Ende zu
erhitzt, um das während der Reaktion gebildete Wasser auszudeslillieren. Die bekannte Reaktion mit Alkylenoxid
verläuft leicht bei Temperaturen ab, die so gering sind wie 25° C und darunter, obgleich ein bevorzugter
Temperaturbereich für diesen Teil der Reaktion etwa 50 bis 2000C ist.
Die Mannich-Kondensationsreaktion ist gewöhnlich in I bis 8 Stunden beendet. Vorzugsweise wäscht man
das Kondensationsprodukt mit Wasser, um irgendwelches nichtumgesetztes Ainin oder nichtumgesetzten
Aldehyd zu entfernen. Es wird dann getrocknet und die Alkoxylierung in der Weise durchgeführt, daß man
Alkylenoxid hierzu zugibt, oder daß man Alkylen durchperlt, bis die gewünschte Menge umgesetzt ist. Die
Alkoxylierung wird vorzugsweise in einem geschlossenen System durchgeführt oder einem System, das mit
einem Niedertemperaturkühler ausgestattet ist, um Verluste an flüchtigem Alkylenoxid zu vermeiden. Die
Alkoxylierung ist im allgemeinen nach etwa 1 bis 4 Stunden ausreichend.
Die erfindungsgemäße Phosphorsulfurisierungsreaktion wird in der Weise durchgeführt, daß man festes
pulverisiertes P>S-, oder in Klumpenform dem alkoxylierten
Kondensationsprodukt zugibt und bei Reaktionstemperatur ausreichend lange rührt, um genug
Phosphor und Schwefel einzuführen, um Antiabriebeigenschaften zu verleihen. Es sind nur geringe Mengen
erforderlich, beispielsweise von 0,01 bis 10% Schwefel und 0,01 bis 10% Phosphor. Eine Reaktionstemperatur
von 50 bis 200"C ist zufriedenstellend, und ein Temperaturbereich von 80 bis 1000C wird bevorzugt.
Der Reaktionsgrad ist im allgemeinen nach etwa 2 bis b Stunden ausreichend. Überschüssiges P.iS-, kann durch
Filtrieren entfernt werden. Vorzugsweise wird das Endadditiv mit Wasser gewaschen und getrocknet.
Das Additiv wird im allgemeinen in Form eines Konzentrats verwendet, das etwa 50 bis 75% Additiv
und den Rest Vcrdünnungsöl enthält. Dadurch werden die Handhabungseigcnschaften verbessert.
Die nachfolgenden Beispiele erläutern die Art und Weise, wie die Additive hergestellt werden.

Herstellung der Ausgangsprodukte
Alkylierung
Alkylierung
In ein Reaktionsgefäß gibt man 920 g Polybuten (Durchschnitlsinolekulargcwicht 950), 169 g Phenol und
500 g SAF.-7-Verdünnungs-Mineralöl. Man rührt und
erhitzt auf 45°C unter Stickstoff, wonach man 40 g BFj · 2-Phenolkomplex zugibt. Man rührt das Gemisch
1,5 Stunden bei 50 bis 55°C und wäscht dann mit Wasser. Man trocknet durch Erhitzen auf 185°C unter Vakuum.
A) Mannich-Kondensation
Zu dem erhaltenen polybutensubstituiertcn Phenol gibt man 52 g Diäthylentriamin unter Rühren unter
Stickstoff. Man erhitzt das Gemisch auf 45°C und gibt 36 g Paraformaldehyd zu. Das Gemisch rührt man 7
Stunden unter langsamem Erhitzen auf 180°C. Das während der Kondensation gebildete Wasser wird
kontinuierlich ausdestilliert. Während der letzten 1,5 Stunden verwendet man ein Reaktionswasser-Aspiratorvakuum,
um die Wasserentfernung zu unterstützen. Nach der Reaktion gibt man weitere 27 g Verdünnungsöl
zu und erhält eine 66%ige Konzentralion des Mannich-Kondensationsproduktes in Vcrdünnungs-Mincralöl.
B) Alkoxylierung
Einen 502-g-Teil des oben angegebenen Kondensationsprodukts
gibt man in ein Reaktionsgefäß und erhitzt unter Rühren auf 1000C. Man perlt Äthylenoxid
während 1,75 Stunden bei 100 bis 1200C ein. Das erhaltene Produkt wäscht man mit Wasser und trocknet
durch Ausdestillieren des rückständigen Wassers und anderer flüchtiger Bestandteile unter Vakuum. Das
Produkt, 519g, zeigt, daß 17g Äthylenoxid umgesetzt wurden. Dieses Produkt ist selbst ein sehr wirksames,
aschenloses Dispergiermittel und weist bereits eine viel geringere Lagerkorrosion im Vergleich zu dem
Mannich-Kondensationsprodukt auf, aus dem es hergestellt ist.
Erfindungsgemäße Phosphorsulfurisierung
200 g des vorausgehend äthoxylierten Produkts gibt man in ein Reaktionsgefäß und hierzu 4 g P2S^. Man
rührt bei 100 bis 120°C 4 Stunden unter Stickstoff, verdünnt das erhaltene Produkt mit Heptan, wäscht mit
Wasser und destilliert die flüchtigen Bestandteile unter Vakuum aus, wodurch man das erfindungsgemäß
hergestellte Additiv erhält.
Das vorausgehende Beispiel kann in gleicher Weise durchgeführt werden, wenn bei A) andere reaktionsfähige
Amine eingesetzt worden sind. Beispielsweise können Amine, wie N.N-Dimethyl-I.S-propandiamin,
verwendet worden sein. Ebenso führt die Verwendung von Diethanolamin, Äthylendiamin, Triäthylentelramin,
Tetraäthylenpentamin, Dimethylamin, l.aurylamin, Stcarylamin oder Phcnylendiainin zu brauchbaren
Additiven.
In gleicher Weise können Acetaldehyd. Piopionaldchyd,
Butyraldehyd oder Glyoxal ansiclle von Formaldehyd und anstelle von Äthylenoxid Propylcnoxid oder
Bulylenoxid eingesetzt worden sein.
In ein Reaktionsgcfäß gibt man 440 g Mannich-Kondensationsprodukt
von Beispiel IA). Unter Rühren erhitzt man auf 100"C und perlt Äthyicnoxid 2 Stunden
ein. Der Gcsamlvcrbrauch an Äthylenoxid beträgt 25 g.
Das älhoxylierlc Produkt wäscht und trocknet man durch Ausdcslilliercn von Wasser und anderen flüchtigen
Bestandteilen unter Vakuum.
llrfindungsgemäße Umsetzung
In ein zweites Rcakiionsgefäß gibt man 367 g dieses
äthoxylierten Produkts und 7,3 g PjSi. Dieses Gemisch
rührt man 3,5 Stunden bei 90 bis 110"C unter Stickstoff. Das Produkt verdünnt man mit Heptan und dekantiert,
wodurch eine geringe Menge nichtumgesetztes PiSi
entfernt wird. D?s Produkt wäscht man mit Wasser und trocknet durch Ausdestillicren der flüchtigen Bestandteile
einschließlich Heptan unter Vakuum, wodurch man ein wirksames phosphorsulfurisicrtcs Additiv erhält.
In ein Reaktionsgefäß gibt man 200 g SAE-7-Verdünnungsöl,
940 g Phenol und 600 g Polypropylen mit einem Durchschnitlsmolekulargewicht von 1200. Man gibt
iii 40 g BFj-Phenat zu und rührt 2 Stunden bei 50°C. Man
wäscht mit Wasser und destilliert rückständiges Wasser und flüchtige Bestandteile unter Vakuum aus, gibt dann
60g N,N-Dimelhyl-l,3propandiamin zu und erhitzt unter Rühren unter Stickstoff auf 500C. Man gibt 20 g
Paraformaldehyd zu und erhitzt langsam während 6 Stunden auf 175°C. Man verwendet Vakuum, wenn das
Gemisch 150"C erreicht hat, um in ausreichender Weise
die Wasserentfernung zu unterstützen. Man wäscht mit Wasser und trocknet das Gemisch durch Ausdestillieren
4(i von rückständigem Wasser unter Vakuum.
Unter Rühren bei 75°C gibt man 75 g Propylcnoxid während 1,5 Stunden unter Verwendung eines Eiskühlers,
um Verluste zu vermeiden, zu. Man rührt eine weitere Stunde bei 100"C. Man wäscht mit Wasser und
trocknet das Produkt durch Vakuumdestillation von rückständigem Wasser und anderen flüchtigen Bestandteilen.
Erfindungsgcmäße Umsetzung
5Ii Man gibt 10 g P2S5 zu und rührt unter Stickstoff bei
100 bis 1100C eine Stunde, erhöht dann die Temperatur
auf 1500C und rührt 30 Minuten. Man verdünnt mit Heptan und filtriert, wäscht das Filtrat mit Wasser und
destilliert die flüchtigen Bestandteile unter Vakuum aus, wodurch man ein brauchbares phosphorsulfurisiertes
Additiv erhält.
Die Additive sind als aschenlose Dispergiermittel in einem breiten Bereich von Schmierölen, sowohl
synthetischen als auch mineralischen Ursprungs, ver-
wi wendbar. Beispielsweise können sie in nützlicher Weise
in synthetischen Schmierölen des Estertyps, wie den Cb-10-Alkanolestern von aliphatischen Dicarbonsäuren
(ζ. B. Adipin bzw. Sebacin), beispielsweise Di-2-äthylhexylsebacat,
verwendet werden. Sie können weiterhin
b5 verwendet werden mit Komplexesterschmiermitteln,
wie sie hergestellt werden durch die Reaktion von Polyolcn (z. B. Äthylenglycol, Pentaerythrit, Trimethylolpropan),
Polycarbonsäuren (ζ. B. Adipin-, Scbacinsäti-
rc), Monocarbon-Gi-io-aliphatischen Säuren (ζ. Β. Hexan-,
Octan-, Decansäuren) und einwertigen Alkanolen (/.. B. Butanol, Hexanol.Octanol).
Sie sind weiterhin brauchbar in synthetischen Kohlenwasserstoffölen, die durch Polymerisation olefi- r>
nisch ungesättigter Kohlenwasserstoffe, wie Styrol, Isobuten, Buten, Hexen, Octen, Decen und Dodeccn
hergestellt werden. Die bevorzugten Öle dieser Art sind Oligomerc von Ch_ 12-gradkettigen alpha-Monoolefincn
(z.B. Deccn-1), die einen hohen Prozentsatz an Trimeren enthalten. Diese synthetischen öle sind
vorzugsweise hydriert, um ihre Stabilität zu verbessern. Sie sind weiterhin brauchbar in synthetischen Alkylbenzolölen
wie Didodecylbenzol oder Dioctadecylbenzol.
Die Additive sind insbesondere brauchbar in Mineral- r>
Schmierölen oder Gemischen von Mineralschmierölcn mit synthetischen ölen. Die Mineralöle können aus
irgendeinem Typ Basismaterial raffiniert sein.
Die Menge an zugeführtem Dispergiermittel sollte ausreichend sein, um den gewünschten Grad an 2(1
Dispergiervcrniügeii und Aiiiiaunebeigerisunaiicn zu
verleihen. Ein brauchbarer Bereich ist 0,1 bis 10 Gew.-% Additiv (d. h. ausschließlich Verdünnungsöl in dem
Konzentrat). Ein bevorzugter Bereich ist I bis 5 Gew.-%.
Das Schmieröl kann weiterhin andere Additive enthalten, die normalerweise in Schmierölmischungen
enthalten sind, wie Zinkdialkyldithiophosphate, CaI-ciumalkarylsulfonate,
Magnesiumalkarylsulfonatc,
phosphorsulfurisierte Olefine (ζ. B. P2Ss-Terpen-Reak- so
tionsprodukte), Bariumsalze von phosphorsulfurisierten Olefinen, V.l.-Verbesserern (z. B. Polylaurylmelhacrylate,
Polybutene, Styrol-Butenmischpolymerisale, Äthylen- Propylenmischpolymerisate), Antioxidationsmittel
(z. B. a-Dimethylamino-2,6-di-tert-butyl-p-cresol, 4,4'- J5
fviethyienbis[2,6-di-teri-buiy !phenol]), Metallphenate
(z. B. Bariumalkylphenate, Calciumalkylphenate, Zinkalkylphenate).
Das folgende Beispiel erläutert die Herstellung eines Mineralschmieröls, das zum Betrieb eines Automobil-Verbrennungsmotors
geeignet ist.
Verwendungsbeispiel
In ein Mischgefäß gibt man 37 850 I Mineralschmieröl
SAE-10,dazu gibt man 3 Gew.-°/o Additiv von Beispiel I,
3 Gew.-% Äthylen-Propylenmischpolymerisat-V.l.-Verbesserer,
0,7 Gew.-% Zink als Zinkdialkyldithiophosphat, 1,3 Gew.-% überbasisches Calciumalkarylsulfonat,
0.6 Gew.-% überbasisches Magnesiumalkarylsiilfonat und 0,3 Gew.-% 4,4'-Methylenbis-(2,6-di-tert-butylphenol).
Man rührt bis zur homogenen Lösung und erhält ein brauchbares Automobilmotorenschmiermittel.
Es wurden Untersuchungen durchgeführt, um die Dispergiereigenschaftcn des Additivs zu zeigen. Diese
waren L-43 »Sludge and Varnish Engine Tests«, bei « denen eine Einzylindermaschine unter Verwendung
einer Kühlmitteltemperatur von 120 bis 200° F (49 bis
93"C) und bei einer Temperatur im ölkanal von 150° F (65"C) in Betrieb genommen wurde. Bei einer
.Slandard-L-43-Untcrsuchung läuft die Maschine 180 wi
Stunden und wird dann auseinandergenommen. Die verschiedenen Teile werden visuell nach einer Skala von
0 bis tO (10 gleich rein) bewertet, wodurch man eine
Durchschnittsschlamm- und Lackbewertung erhält. Diese Untersuchung wurde dahingehend modifiziert, μ
daß die Maschine periodisch auseinandergenommen wurde und die Teile visuell bewertet wurden, bis die
Diirchschnittsbcwertiing von 9 erreicht war. Die
Stunden bis zu einer 9-Bewcrtung sind Unlcrsuchungskriterien. Das Untersuchungsöl war ein Mineralschmicröl
und enthielt 1,5 Gew.-% phenolisches Antioxidationsmittel, um den oxidativen Zusammenbruch
das Öls zu vermeiden. Ein im Handel erhältliches Dispergiermittel des Succinimid-Typs wurde bei einer

Diese Untersuchungen zeigen, daß die erfindungsgemäß hergestellten Additive den im Handel erhältlichen
Dispcrgieimiiiciri zur Vermeidung von Sehianimbiidung
in Moloren gleichwertig sind, und daß sic wesentlich wirksamer sind zur Vermeidung von
Lackbildung in Motoren.
Es wurden weitere Untersuchungen durchgeführt, um die Antiabriebeigenschaften dieser Additive nachzuweisen.
Es waren dies die Standard-4-Kugelabriebuntcrsuchungen,
bei denen eine rotierende Stahlkugel auf die Oberfläche eines Dreiecks von ähnlich an der Stelle
befestigten Stahlkugel gelegt und mit 1800 UpM unter einer Last von 50 kg gedreht wird. Die Kugeln wurden
mit Mineralöl bei 1100C geschmiert, und das Drehender
Kugeln wurde eine Stunde durchgeführt. Die rotierende Kugel reibt eine kreisrunde Kerbe in die drei befestigten
Kugeln. Der Durchschnittskerbendurchmesser ist ein Maßstab für die Anliabriebeigenschaften. Es wurde eine
Probe verwendet, die das alkoxylierte Kondensationsprodukt in unmittelbarem Vergleich mit demselben
Produkt nach Phosphorsulfurisierung stellt. Bei diesem Versuch wurde ein Narbendurchmesser von weniger als
1 mm als ausreichend angesehen.

Diese Ergebnisse zeigen, daß die Additive der Erfindung weiterhin sehr wirksame Antiabricbmittcl
sind. Ihre Verwendung in Motorenschmierölen ermöglicht viel geringere Konzentrationen der aschenbildcnden
Zinkdialkyldithiophosphate, die hcrkömmlichcrwcisc zur Vermeidung von Abrieb verwendet werden.
Aus den oben aufgeführten vergleichenden Untersuchungen ist ersichtlich, daß die erfindungsgemäßen
Additive herkömmlichen, anerkannt gut wirksamen Dispergiermitteln für Schmiermittel hinsichtlich der
Schlammbildung und der Lackbildung erheblich überle-
gen sind. Im Vergleich zu den aus der US-PS 33 89 086
bekannten Schmiermittel-Detergentien besitzen die erfindungsgemäßen Additive den weiteren Vorteil, daß
sie bei zumindest gleichwertiger Dispergierwirkung leichter zugänglich sind und, wie oben verdeutlicht, eine
den Abrieb verhindernde Wirkung ausüben, wodurch
eine Verminderung des Verschleißes der mit die erfindungsgemäßen Additive enthaltenden Schmiermitteln
geschmierten Vorrichtungen erreicht werden kann. Eine solche gegen den Abrieb wirkende Eigenschaft ist
■-, den Produkten der US-PS 33 89 086 offenbar nicht eigen.
Claims (3)
1. Verfahren zur Herstellung phosphorhaltiger modifizierter kohlenwasserstoffsubstituicrter Phe- ">
nole, bei welchem man
(A) einen Molteil eines aliphatischen kohlenwasserstoffsubsiituierten
Phenols, worin der Kohlenwasserstoffsubstituent ein durchschnittliches
Molekulargewicht von 650bis 5000 hat, mit 1 bis u>
10 Molteilen eines Aldehyds mit I bis 4 Kohlenstoffatomen und 0,1 bis 10 Molleilen
Ammoniak und/oder Amine mit wenigstens einer HN-Gruppe und mit I bis 20 Kohlenstoffatomen
unter Bildung eines Mannich-Konden- r> sationsprodukts umsetzt,
(H) das Kondensationsprodukl mit 0,1 bis 50 Molteilen Alkylenoxid, das 2 bis 6 Kohlenstoffatome
enthält, unter Bildung eines ulkoxylierten Produkts umsetzt, dadurch gekenn- _'o
zeichnet, daß man das alkoxyliertc Produkt mit 0,05 bis I Molteil P_>S-, bei Temperaturen von
50 bis 2000C umsetzt.
2. Verfahren nach Anspruch I, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man als alkoxyliertcs Produkt ein >■>
polybutensubstituiertes Phenol, das mit Formaldehyd und Diälhylentriamin und anschließend mit
Äthylenoxid umgesetzt worden ist, einsetzt.
3. Verwendung des gemäß einem der Ansprüche I und 2 hergestellten Umsetzungsproduktes als m
Additiv für Schmiermittel.
