Zwischen einer Klemmwalze 33 und einem Verdichtungs­ element 31 wird der verstreckte Faserverband geklemmt, und nachfolgend auf der Ver­ dichtungseinrichtung 3 verdichtet. Entlang der Verdichtungszone 31' kann eine Füh­ rung 39 bevorzugt in Form eines Schirmes den Faserverband an der Oberfläche des Verdichtungselements 31 begleiten. Abschliessend ist in der Verdichtungszone eine Sperrwalze 35 vorgesehen, welche an das Verdichtungselement angedrückt ist und so die Drehungserteilung von einer Spinneinrichtung 5 her entgegen der Materialflussrich­ tung begrenzt.
