Description
Process for detinning painted tinplate waste object the main patent application is a process for detinning lacquered tinplate waste, which is characterized in that the waste is dry before detinning a thermal treatment between 240 and 350 ° C, preferably 280 ° C, are subjected. This heating takes place by means of hot air or hot inert gases.
This method is quite effective, but has the disadvantage that this has to be worked with a poor heat transfer.
In the development of this method has now been found that a Perfect detinning can be achieved in the usual way when lacquered Tinplate before detinning at 120 to 250 ° C, preferably 160 to 180 ° C, with Steam or hot water is being treated.
The technical progress of this process is based on the fact that with Steam or hot water from e.g. B. 170 ° C and a resulting pressure of about 8 atm, due to the good heat transfer, rapid destruction or Swelling of the paintwork is achieved.
It has also been found that this steam or hot water treatment can be used can have a beneficial effect by adding chemicals. So become difficult to attack Paints caused by the addition of alkaline substances such as caustic soda, potassium hydroxide, Amines or ammonia, or by adding paint-dissolving solvents such as higher-boiling ones Ketones e.g. B. Cyclohexanone, attacked very quickly in the treatment mentioned and so far destroyed or swollen that afterwards a perfect detinning is achieved will. Example 1 In a pressure vessel are tinplate waste, one or both sides with synthetic resin paints, e.g. B. based on polyvinyl chloride, phenolic resin, polyester or polystyrene, are introduced and after closing the vessel with Steam of 180 ° C charged. After the contents become even after about 5 to 15 minutes Temperature of 170 to 180 ° C has assumed, is relaxed and the tinplate waste tinned according to the usual detinning process. The one on the tin after detinning the remaining tin is between 0.01 and 0.03%.
The same sheets were used without prior steam or treatment Heating water immediately subjected to the usual detinning process. The detinning was just incomplete. The tin content remaining on the sheet was between 0.1 and 0.4%. Example 2 In the same manner as described in Example 1, was heavily lacquered tinplate treated with hot water at 180 ° C and after 5 to 15 Subject to detinning for minutes. The residual tin content on the plate was also there between 0.01 and 0.03 per cent. Example 3 The paint stripping was carried out as described in Example 1, carried out, only 1% ammonia was added to the steam. After this The paintwork showed a much stronger attack than the treatment Treatment with pure steam. The detinning was also perfect; the residual tin content on the sheet was 0.01 to 0.02%.
Example 4 The procedure given in Example 3 was followed, only instead of ammonia, 1% cyclohexanone was added to the steam. It also happened here a much stronger attack on the paintwork. The subsequent detinning showed the same perfect result.
