An dem Dachelement sind seitlich Seitenscheiben so angebracht, dass sie um eine in Fahrzeuglängsrichtung verlau fende Drehachse beim Ablegen des Dachelements nach innen schwenkbar sind.DE 36 06 759 A1 describes an openable vehicle roof for a pick-up Vehicle known, with a fixed roof element around a vehicle transverse direction rotating axis to the rear for storage in a storage space in the rear area of the vehicle is pivotable. There are side windows on the side of the roof element attached so that it is one in the vehicle's longitudinal direction fende axis of rotation can be pivoted inwards when the roof element is put down.
A disadvantage of the known vehicle roofs is that these constructions are not suitable if the space in the rear of the vehicle is strong is limited.
It is an object of the present invention to provide an openable vehicle roof as well as to create a corresponding operating method, which also for driving with a very limited amount of space in the rear area is suitable.
An spruch 20.This object is achieved by a vehicle roof, as in Claim 1 is defined, and by a corresponding method according to An saying 20.
In this solution according to the invention it is advantageous that the fact that the Side parts can be pushed inwards on the swivel axis before swiveling, a collision of the side parts with the wheel arches when swiveling avoided can be.

Fig. 4 is a view similar to Fig. 1, but with a further modified embodiment is shown.
The vehicle roof shown in FIGS . 1 and 2 comprises an openable roof element 10 , which in the example shown is designed as a folding roof 2 , which can be pushed together in a roof cassette 6 by means of a drive (not shown) located in the roof cassette 6 , this state in Fig. 1 is shown. For this purpose, the openable roof element 2 is guided in lateral guide rails 1 in the longitudinal direction of the roof, which extend between the windshield area and the roof cassette 6 . The vehicle shown is a four-seater with a hatchback, the stowage area behind the rear seat bench 22 being made relatively small.
If the vehicle roof is opened from the open position shown in FIG. 1, in which a roof opening is exposed, in the manner of a convertible, the roof cassette 6 and the parts which adjoin it laterally or to the rear, namely two side parts 5 and a rear part 3 , in the following manner be stored in a storage space behind the rear seats 22 .
In the area of its front end, the roof cassette 6 is laterally connected to a support element or link 12 via a swivel joint 10 , so that the roof cassette 6 can be pivoted with respect to the support element 12 about a rotation axis running in the vehicle transverse direction. In the area in front of the carrier element 12 , side windows 7 are provided, which can be lowered in a manner known per se to the side of the rear seats in front of the wheel arch.
The carrier element 12 is articulated by means of a vehicle-fixed swivel joint 9 on a body side part 4 , so that the carrier element 12 can be swiveled towards an axis of rotation extending in the transverse direction of the vehicle through the swivel joint 9 , the axis of rotation being somewhat below the belt line 19 (indicated schematically) Vehicle lies. To the side of the roof cassette 6 , a fixed side part 5 is provided on each side of the vehicle, which can be pivoted about an axis 8 running in the transverse direction of the vehicle through an angle γ of approximately 90 ° to be stored next to the rear seats 22 in the storage space. Before their swiveling movement begins, the side parts 5 on the axis 8 are pushed inwards by a certain distance in order to prevent a collision when swiveling, in particular with the wheel arches. The axis 8 is fixed on the body side parts 4 . Basically, however, the pivoting of the side parts 5 takes place only after the pivoting of the unit from Trä gerelement 12 , roof cassette 6 and a rear part 3 , as will be described in more detail below.
In Fig. 2, an intermediate position and the end position of this unit is shown schematically. From the position shown in FIG. 1 and marked "open position", the unit of support element 12 , roof cassette 6 and rear part 3 arrives in an intermediate position. The roof cassette, with respect to pivot 6 of the support member 12 by means of the rotary joint 10 to the front (the swivel angle of the roof cassette 6 is designated α in Fig. 1 as an angle, the front particular rotary joint 10 is lowered to a rear pivot 11 cartridge relative to the roof 6 ) and at the same time the rear part 3 , which can comprise a rear window (not shown), for example made of glass, and which is articulated by means of the swivel joint 11 on the rear end of the roof cassette 6 and is in the open position shown in FIG. 1 between the rear end the roof cassette 6 and the upper end of a tailgate 32 , pivoted inward (in the direction of the angle β) about a pivot axis running in the vehicle transverse direction by means of the swivel joint 11 .
The tailgate 32 is pivotable about a pivot axis 36 in the region of its lower end for opening outwards, as is indicated in FIG. 1 by means of an arrow, in order to temporarily provide sufficient space when the unit 12 , roof cassette 6 and rear part 3 are pivoted away to swing this unit between the taillights. By a deviating roof kinematics, the roof cassette 6 can be stored even when the tailgate 32 is closed.
Im gezeigten Bei spiel beträgt der Winkel δ der Dachkassette 6 gegenüber der Horizontalen etwa 60°, mindestens sollte er jedoch 45° betragen, um für eine hinreichend platzspa rende Ablagemöglichkeit der Dachkassette 6 und des Heckteils 3 zu sorgen.Α by further pivoting of the roof cassette 6 and the rear part 3 in the arrow Rich tung the angle or β the end position shown also in FIG. 2 is obtained from the position shown in Fig. 2 intermediate position in which the roof cassette 6 behind the rear seats 22 in approximately parallel comes to lie, the rear part 3 being substantially parallel to the roof cassette 6 . In the example shown, the angle δ of the roof cassette 6 with respect to the horizontal is approximately 60 °, but at least it should be 45 ° in order to provide a sufficiently space-saving storage option for the roof cassette 6 and the rear part 3 .
As soon as this swiveling process has ended, the side part 5 can be put down in the manner described above by rotating about the axis 8 .
In the embodiment shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the drive for the laying of the support element 12 , the roof cassette 6 and the rear part 3 via the swivel joint 9 , wherein torque is also transmitted to the swivel joints 10 and 11 and the lower end of the Rear part 3 is free. For example, a drive acts on the carrier element 12 and a second drive motor pivots the rear part 3 relative to the roof cassette 6 .
The guide rails 1 can either be mounted so that they can be removed manually after storage of the roof cassette 6 in the storage space and can be stowed in the vehicle, or they can be connected to the vehicle by means of a corresponding four-bar linkage in such a way that the four-bar linkage is controlled in this way that the guide rails 1 come to rest on the side of the rear seats 22 when the roof cassette 6 is deposited, at the level of the belt line 19 of the vehicle or below, the four-bar linkage being able to be controlled by the movement of the roof cassette 6 . Furthermore, the guide rails 1 can be designed to be foldable in two parts.
Instead of providing fixed side parts 5 , this area can alternatively be bridged with Ver cover material.
In der in Fig. 3 dargestellten Öff nungsstellung befindet sich der Drehpunkt 17 in der Nähe des oberen Endes der Führungsschiene 13.An alternative embodiment is shown in FIG. 3, in contrast to the embodiment according to FIGS. 1 and 2 no torque being transmitted at the pivot points 10 and 11 . Instead, a body-fixed guide rail 13 and at a body-fixed point via a joint 21 steered pivotable guide rail 15 are provided, in which a trained at the lower end of the rear part 3 pivot 17 is slidably guided, such guide rails 13 on each side of the vehicle and 15 are provided. The pivot point 17 is therefore always at the "intersection" of the two guide rails 13 and 15 . In the example shown, the guide rail 13 is straight and runs from just below the belt line 19 of the vehicle starting at an angle of about 60 ° with respect to the horizontal downwards, while the guide rail 15 z. B. is curved and a z. B. perpendicular to the actual rail 15 extending from section 23 is connected to the joint 21 . In the opening position shown in FIG. 3, the pivot point 17 is in the vicinity of the upper end of the guide rail 13 .
In principle, the control or the drive of the lowering of the pivot point 17 along the guide rail 13 can either take place mechanically separately from the movement of the carrier element 12 , in which case the corresponding drives are electronically coupled, or via a mechanical connection to the carrier element 12 , the latter possibility in Fig. 3 is Darge. In Fig. 3, a solution is shown in which a lever or link 14 is articulated with one end by means of a pivot joint 16 to a downward-facing extension of the support element 12 and with its other end via a pivot joint 18 to the upper end of the guide rail 15 is the verbun and thus ensures the corresponding mechanical coupling between the support member 12 and the fulcrum 17 . The pivot point 17 is thereby controlled via a four-bar linkage, which is formed by the elements 12 , 14 and 15 . Alternatively, however, other multi-joint arrangements are also conceivable.
Alternatively, it is possible to control the fulcrum 17 of the rear part 3 directly without the body-fixed guide rail 13 via a four-bar or other multi-link. In this case, too, the pivoting movement of the carrier element 12 about the pivot joint 9 controls the lowering movement of the pivot point 17 , wherein the drive can take place on the joint 9 . Furthermore, a drive via the body-fixed guide rail 13 , if present, or the four-bar or multi-bar is possible.
In FIG. 4, a further alternative embodiment is shown, which thereby det from the embodiments described so far substantially at failed, that the rear element as nen 103 from the roof cassette 6 on guide slide is formed 104, which are mounted on the tailgate 32, separate separate part is, which is mounted so that it can be pushed down in front of the tailgate 32 before depositing the roof cassette 6 in order to clear the space for the lowering movement of the roof cassette 6 . The lowering or pivoting movement of the roof cassette 6 takes place analogously to the embodiments according to FIGS . 1 to 3, but for the embodiment according to FIG. 3 the control function takes place instead of through the rear part 3 by an additional handlebar (not shown), which is articulated analogously to the rear part 3 of FIG. 3 at the rear end of the roof cassette 6 .
