Abstract
Un aparato para formar una corriente de vidrio de cubierta que tiene un vidrio interno de núcleo rodeado por un vidrio externo de envoltura, dicho aparato que incluye:un medio (14) para suministrar virio de núcleo de una primera fuente (12) a través de un primer orificio (22), un anillo de orificio (26) que forma un segundo orificio (28) espaciado verticalmente debajo y alineado con el dicho primer orificio, con una cámara (30) que rodea el dicho segundo orificio y se comunica con dicho segundo orificio através de un intersticio de medición (56) entre dichos primer y segundo orificios, medios (34, 36, 38) para suministrar vidrio de cubierta desde una segunda fuente (42) hacia dicha cámara, tal que el vidrio fluye por gravedad desde dichas primera y segunda fuentes a través de dichos orificios para formar dicha corriente de vidrio de cubierta, y medios de calentamiento eléctrico para agregar calor al vidrio que fluye a través de dicha cámara desde dicha segunda fuente hacia dicho intersticio de medición.1Un método de formar una corriente de vidrio cubierta donde dicho vidrio desde una primera fuente (12) se suministra a través de un par de orificios adyacentes (22, 28) separados por un intersticio de medición (56) y vidrio desde una segunda fuente (42) se suministra a una cámara (30) alrededor de dicho intersticio de medición tal que el vidrio desde dicha segunda fuente se funde con el vidrio desde dicha primera fuente mediante la fuerza de gravedada través de dicho intersticio de medición para formar una cubierta alrededor de un vidrio interno de núcleo desde dicha primera fuente, dicho método que se caracteriza por incluir los pasos de:(a) colocar por lo menos un calentador eléctrico (48) para cubrir por debajo dicha cámara (30) externa a dicha cámara, y(b) aplicar energía eléctrica a dicho por lo menos un calentador (48) para calentar vidrio que fluye a través de dicha cámara.<EMI FILE="00092263_1" ID="1" IMF=JPEG >
