参照图2和图3,玻璃料30连接至挡风玻璃14并且被定位成对车辆12的驾驶员至少部分地隐藏EL构件16。例如,玻璃料30示出为连接至第二玻璃层22并且可以包括紧密分组的多个黑点32,以降低EL构件16对驾驶员的能见度。可以预期的是,黑点可以被分组以使得当EL构件16照亮时,驾驶员能够看到微弱的光。通过这种方式,驾驶员意识到EL构件16处于照亮状态,但不会由于EL构件16的照明而过度分散注意力。
参照图4,使用导线、导电膜或其他连接装置将EL构件16电连接至控制器34。控制器34被配置为控制EL构件16的照亮状态,或者换句话说,激活或停用EL构件16。为此,控制器34可以基于一个或多个输入向EL构件16选择性地施加电力。在一个实施例中,控制器34基于来自车辆12的光传感器36的输入向EL构件16施加电力。例如,当来自光传感器36的输入指示黑暗状态时,控制器34可以向EL构件16施加电力。控制器34可以基于由光传感器36感测到的暗度水平来改变施加到EL构件16的电力。例如,当暗度水平增加时,控制器34可以向EL构件16施加减少量的电力。
在另一实施例中,控制器34基于从诸如但不限于车辆12的触摸屏显示器的用户输入装置38接收的输入来激活/停用EL构件16。这使得驾驶员或其他用户能够手动控制EL构件16的照亮状态。在又一实施例中,控制器34基于从车辆照明控制系统40接收到的输入来激活/停用EL构件16。例如,车辆照明控制系统40可以在启动、驾驶、怠速和/或停止期间控制一个或多个车灯的照亮状态。在一个具体情况下,控制器34在停止之后激活EL构件16预定时间段。在另一种具体情况下,当车辆12的门被解锁或在启动期间,控制器34暂时激活EL构件16。在又一具体情况下,控制器34向EL构件16施加电力,从而使得EL构件16的亮度随着车速或发动机转动(即,每分钟转数(RPM))的增加/减小而增加/减小。可以预期的是,驾驶员或其他用户可以经由用户输入装置38选择任何或全部前述部件。
关于涂料实施例,EL构件16的亮度水平可随时间的推移而减小。因此,可以预期的是,控制器34可以随时间变化而逐渐增加施加到EL构件16的电力(图5)。因此,实现了EL构件16的基本恒定的亮度水平。

玻璃料,连接至所述挡风玻璃,并且被定位成对车辆的驾驶员至少部分地隐藏所述电致发光构件。
2.根据权利要求1所述的照明组件,其特征在于,所述电致发光构件包括具有微蓝色彩的白色电致发光涂料。

7.一种用于车辆的挡风玻璃的照明组件,其特征在于,包括:
电致发光涂料,密封在所述挡风玻璃内,并且被配置为响应于施加的电力而照亮;
多个反射性玻璃珠,集成在所述电致发光涂料内并且被配置为增强所述电致发光涂料的亮度;以及
玻璃料,连接至所述挡风玻璃并且被定位成对车辆的驾驶员至少部分地隐藏所述电致发光涂料。
8.根据权利要求7所述的照明组件,其特征在于,所述电致发光涂料包括多个磷光体,所述磷光体的至少部分被配置为响应于施加的电力而发光。
