上述牵引绳前端与脚踏连接，后端经回绕过设置于杠杆后侧的车架上的定滑轮8后再向前绕过连接在杠杆上端的动滑轮9，最后固定连接在后车架上。
用户使用时，一只脚由上至下往复踩踏脚踏，脚踏通过牵引绳带动往复杠杆摆动，从而驱动后轮上的飞轮使车前行，杠杆在弹簧作用下后复位，另一只脚也重复上述动作后，便可不停驱动自行车前行，从而达到省力的效果。
