背景技术
美国家长都非常关心他们的孩子所选择的利用他们的时间的方式。许多家长感到他们无法防止他们的孩子接触电视节目、视频、DVD、rap歌曲、计算机游戏和由互联网下载的材料中的暴力或性暴露内容。一个密切相关的担忧是孩子们花费大量的时间在吸引人的电子娱乐中，而不参与对于心理或生理更为积极的活动，例如阅读、游戏或参与体育运动。不幸的是，美国家长几乎没有时间去监督他们的孩子在做什么。例如，普通美国职员比普通欧洲职员每年多工作350小时或更多。而且，不同于普通日本或韩国母亲，普通美国母亲工作时间很长，并且常常是单亲。

发明内容

具体实施方式
下列具体实施方式的描述实际上只是举例，其目的不是限制本发明及其应用或使用。
如图1所示，本发明提供一种组合形式(modular form)的设备使用监测和控制系统10，该系统利用家庭网络11的功能为家长提供对与家庭网络11相连的娱乐和通讯设备的所有使用进行监测和控制的途径。为此，设备使用监测和控制系统10必须知道使用者、被使用的设备及使用时间。任何想使用娱乐/通讯设备的人需要在使用该设备之前鉴别他/她的真身。
例如，孩子或家长可以利用与传感器交互通过生物鉴别方式来获得接入到设备，传感器例如照相机、话筒、指纹传感器、虹膜扫描仪和其它类型生物传感器。上述传感器可以设置于执行集中接入控制的独立设备中，也可设置在与网络相连的设备中，还可设置在每个房间周围，并像声音输入设备12A-12B和图像捕捉设备14那样嵌入在家庭网络11中。

一些家庭可以选择稍有差别的被动生物鉴别方式，即利用传感器的“时刻注意”功能使得设备使用监测和控制系统知晓在任何指定时间在任何房间都出现了什么人。这样的传感器可以是分布在房间中的区域专用声音和/或图像传感器，就象声音输入设备12A-12B和图像捕捉设备14。鉴别在幕后即可完成，且不需要设备使用者进行任何操作。它还有个好处是可以防止一个用户为另一用户鉴别禁止的内容，例如一个大孩子在一个小孩子在场的情况下看X级电影。其他人可能认为这种功能过于侵权，会倾向于上面列举的其它两种方式之一。

设备使用监测和控制系统和娱乐/通讯设备之间的通讯协议是直接的。所有由设备使用监测和控制系统控制的设备在使用者没有通过下述鉴别时都是关闭的。所述设备使用监测和控制系统可以经常询问使用者以更新鉴别。

在房间区域里分布传感器的被动监测实施方式中，家长可能希望在报警事件数据库22中规定报警事件。因此，由孩子或来访者所说的关键语可能导致警报被触发，并向家长发出警报。关键图像，例如帮派文身，可以同样被甄别掉。进一步还可以采用年龄和性别检测来筛选出不受欢迎的来访者，如果一个不受欢迎的来访者的声音、面容或其它生物参数已经预先存储，则这个来访者可以被排除出去。分级和报警事件的专有源可以通过互联网提供给家长，例如，在设置所述许可和报警事件时。因此，最新的分级、粗话、帮派文身、已知的性侵犯等可以由家长进行选择，若非如此家长缺乏必要的知识和/或资源。

本发明中家长可采用的方式可以相当地多样。许多家长可能并没有耐心经常检查日志，但想设置所有限制并依靠设备使用监测和控制系统来自动阻止未通过鉴别的接入。一些家长可能选择将接入娱乐设备作为完成作业或执行其它任务的奖励；一旦该任务完成，家长就可以为这个孩子(但不为其它没有完成自己任务的孩子)打开设备。
本发明的另一方面是内容生成者可以使用它来比当前可能的方法更详细地跟踪家庭中的娱乐消费方式。例如，它可能发现牵涉不同媒体的偏好之间的关系。因此，如果观看节目A的十几岁青少年喜欢B波段，则在牵涉B波段的节目A中加入广告可能是有效的。使用这样的数据需要家长的许可，也可以通过降低内容提供费用来进行补偿。

参见图4，孩子界面107包括监测模块78和控制模块106。控制模块106基于从通讯网络20、媒体甄别机构112或由媒体内容获得的用于媒体内容的许可数据库16和分级110的内容，来允许通过鉴别的孩子有条件地进入设备和/或媒体接入108。媒体甄别机构112接收识别的媒体内容特征114，并将其和预定的分级标准116进行比较，该分级标准可以定期地通过互联网以可更新的软件补丁的方式提供给家长。媒体过滤器118接收从某区域识别到的声音、语言、和/或图像99，并过滤出不是由该区域中所消费的媒体生成的声音或图像输入。可以使用家长/孩子的生物参数和环境参数来过滤那些输入源，如所消费的媒体的信息。当媒体在该区域不被消费和/或该区域中没有人时，基于被动接收的输入也可以为区域记录其环境参数。因此，可以筛选出持续显示搜索画面而出现的报警，且不视其为媒体内容。或者，媒体甄别机构可以获得单独从正在消费的媒体内容识别到的特征的直接反馈。
孩子可以输入以下方式的接入码来通过鉴别：由语音识别器80可以大声读出或翻译出的PIN或通过语方式，或由卡柄、键盘或其它输入设备输入的PIN或通过语方式。孩子还可以通过向识别器82输入声音、图像或其它生物参数来通过鉴别。因此，输入的图像和/或声音84可以持续地被图像识别器86和/或声音识别器80所识别。识别器82中也包括年龄和/或性别检测。因而，孩子生物参数和/或接入码124由设备连续地或作为交互对话的部分而接收，并与已注册的的孩子用户数据库122的内容相比较。可替代地或补充地，由孩子佩带的跟踪设备，例如GPS设备126传送的码可以用来鉴别孩子。
一旦孩子通过鉴别，他或她可以发送请求128来接入某设备和/或媒体内容。接下来，控制模块106确定该孩子是否有接入设备和/或媒体内容的许可，并据此有选择地许可接入。接着监测模块78跟踪该孩子对设备的使用情况，并将设备使用的详细情况存储在数据库23中，包括开始和结束的时间和设备使用的细节，例如消费的媒体内容。在一些实施例中，可以采用主动监测方案，其包括通过被使用的设备、区域中的对讲机或其它机构对孩子发出定时提醒以获得识别反应。所述识别反应，例如码或生物参数，被用来批准该孩子继续使用该设备以消费媒体内容。如果孩子不在，或其它孩子应答，则设备使用中断。在被动监测方案中，分享另一个孩子的接入的兄弟姐妹使他们自己的限量被收取。如果监测到几个孩子中的一个在某区域中接入超过其权利的内容，包括量和分级，则该区域中的所有孩子都不能再接入。
本发明的描述实际上只是举例，任何不偏离本发明的要点所进行的变化都在本发明的范围中。这样的变化不能被认为是对本发明精神和范围的背离。

Claims (35)

1、一种设备使用监测和控制系统，用于对与家庭网络相连的设备进行家长式监测和控制，包括：
许可模块，其从为至少一名孩子限定许可的家长处接收控制指令并存储该控制指令，其中该许可规定了与家庭网络相连的设备的接入等级和/或可通过这些设备消费的媒体内容的分类的接入等级；
控制模块，其根据所述接入等级准许这名孩子接入到这些设备和/或通过这些设备接入媒体内容；
监测模块，其监测这名孩子对这些设备的使用和/或这名孩子通过这些设备对媒体内容的消费，存储所监测情况各自的使用历史，并将该使用历史传送给这名家长。
2、如权利要求1所述的系统，进一步包括遍布在使用该家庭网络的家中的声音输入器，其中这些声音输入器限定了家中的区域。
3、如权利要求2所述的系统，进一步包括接收和识别家中各区域各自的语音的语音识别器。
4、如权利要求3所述的系统，进一步包括报警事件检测器，该报警事件检测器将识别出的语音和与报警事件相关的关键语进行比较。
5、如权利要求4所述的系统，进一步包括提供给所述报警事件检测器的媒体过滤器，该媒体过滤器过滤掉通过设备来消费的声音媒体所产生的识别出的语音。
6、如权利要求3所述的系统，进一步包括媒体甄别机构，该媒体甄别机构从一区域接收识别出的语音并将识别出的语音和与媒体内容分类相关的关键语进行比较，该区域与这名孩子所使用的用以接入声音媒体的设备相关。
7、如权利要求6所述的系统，进一步包括提供给所述媒体甄别机构的媒体过滤器，该媒体过滤器过滤掉并非由通过设备来消费的声音媒体所产生的识别出的语音。
8、如权利要求2所述的系统，进一步包括说话者识别器，该说话者识别器接收家中各区域各自的语音并识别出家中各区域各自的说话者。
9、如权利要求8所述的系统，进一步包括报警事件检测器，该报警事件检测器将识别出的说话者和与报警事件相关的说话者进行比较。
10、如权利要求9所述的系统，进一步包括提供给所述报警事件检测器的媒体过滤器，该媒体过滤器过滤掉通过设备来消费的声音媒体所产生的语音。
11、如权利要求2所述的系统，进一步包括报警事件检测器，该报警事件检测器将与报警事件相关的声音强度阈值应用到输入声音中。
12、如权利要求1所述的系统，进一步包括遍布在使用该家庭网络的家中的图像捕捉设备，其中这些图像捕捉设备限定了家中的区域。
13、如权利要求12所述的系统，进一步包括接收和识别家中各区域各自的图像的图像识别器。
14、如权利要求13所述的系统，进一步包括报警事件检测器，该报警事件检测器将识别出的图像的至少一个特征和与报警事件相关的图像特征进行比较。
15、如权利要求14所述的系统，进一步包括提供给所述报警事件检测器的媒体过滤器，该媒体过滤器过滤掉通过设备来消费的视觉媒体所产生的图像。
16、如权利要求13所述的系统，进一步包括面容识别器，该面容识别器接收家中各区域各自的图像并识别出家中各区域各自的面容。
17、如权利要求13所述的系统，进一步包括媒体甄别机构，该媒体甄别机构从一区域接收识别出的图像并将识别出的图像的至少一个特征和与媒体内容分类相关的图像特征进行比较，该区域与这名孩子所使用的用以接入视觉媒体的设备相关。
18、如权利要求17所述的系统，进一步包括提供给所述媒体甄别机构的媒体过滤器，该媒体过滤器过滤掉并非由通过设备来消费的视觉媒体所产生的识别出的图像。
19、如权利要求1所述的系统，其中所述控制模块适于通过捕捉用户的生物参数并将该生物参数与基准生物参数进行比较来识别该用户。
20、如权利要求19所述的系统，其中所述控制模块适于通过对提供用户语音生物参数的用户语音输入器执行单独的说话者鉴别，来为该用户授权。
21、如权利要求20所述的系统，其中所述用户语音输入器包含关于对设备进行控制的信息，并且所述控制模块适于识别该信息，并取决于根据该语音生物参数对该用户进行的鉴别来控制根据该信息的设备。
22、如权利要求20所述的系统，其中所述控制模块适于根据说话者鉴别和对用户指纹生物参数的单独指纹鉴别的组合，来为该用户授权。
23、如权利要求1所述的系统，其中所述控制模块适于根据输入的用户专用码来鉴别用户。
24、如权利要求23所述的系统，其中所述控制模块适于获取记录在用户专用记录媒体中的用户专用码。
25、如权利要求1所述的系统，其中所述控制模块适于获取记录在用户专用记录媒体中的设备专用使用信用，并根据该设备专用使用信用为与该设备相关的用户授权。
26、如权利要求1所述的系统，其中所述许可模块适于存储这名孩子使用设备的限量和/或这名孩子通过这些设备消费媒体内容的限量，并且所述监测模块适于在所述限量被超出时向家长发送警报。
27、如权利要求1所述的系统，进一步包括报警事件检测器，该报警事件检测器适于根据所接收的声音输入和/或所捕捉的图像来检测报警事件，其中所述监测模块适于在监测到报警事件时向家长发送警报。
28、如权利要求27所述的系统，进一步包括提供给所述报警事件检测器的媒体过滤器，该媒体过滤器过滤掉通过设备消费的媒体所产生的声音和/或图像。
29、如权利要求1所述的系统，进一步包括媒体甄别机构，其接收声音输入和/或图像输入，并将识别出的声音和/或识别出的图像和与媒体内容分类相关的关键语和/或图像特征进行比较。
30、如权利要求29所述的系统，进一步包括提供给所述媒体甄别机构的媒体过滤器，该媒体过滤器过滤掉并非由通过设备消费的声音媒体所产生的识别出的声音和/或识别出的图像。
31、如权利要求29所述的系统，进一步包括媒体甄别机构，该媒体甄别机构接收媒体并将闭合的标题和与媒体内容分类相关的关键语进行比较。
32、如权利要求1所述的系统，其中所述控制模块适于定时提醒这名孩子输入以便确认这名孩子对设备的连续使用。
33、如权利要求1所述的系统，其中所述控制模块适于：在准予从使用该家庭网络的房中一区域识别出的所有孩子在该区域接入设备和/或媒体内容时，给予这些孩子以最低的接入等级。
34、如权利要求1所述的系统，进一步包括将媒体内容分类与可通过这些设备得到的媒体内容关联起来的分级信息源，其中所述分级信息源是持续更新的和/或定时更新的。
35、如权利要求1所述的系统，进一步包括提供关于关键语和/或图像特征的信息和引起报警的相关原因的可选择式报警条件源，其中所述可选择式报警条件源是持续更新的和/或定期更新的。
