发明内容

具体实施方式
现在参考图1和2,其示出了根据本发明构造的膝上计算机2的透视图。计算机包括壳体10,其封装一个或多个通常的便携式计算机组件如处理器、存储器(包括RAM)、及硬盘、软盘驱动器、DVD和CD驱动器、调制解调器卡和类似的目前可用在常规膝上计算机中的组件。计算机壳体10还可包括键盘、触控板或其它光标控制器、功能键及其它目前可用在常规膝上计算机中的组件,以与计算机2交互作用。膝上计算机是便携的、通常可自我供电的计算机,其具有通常的桌上型计算机的功能,但是其为更加轻便的小型形式以利于携带。
图1的膝上计算机2包括第二显示屏4,其通过至少一铰接件8枢轴连接到第一显示屏6。第一显示屏6也通过至少一铰接件12枢轴连接到计算机壳体10。许多其它连接装置也可将两个组件枢轴连接在一起,如球窝枢轴或绕轴旋转履带导板。通过其第二显示屏4枢轴连接到第一显示屏6和第一显示屏6连接到计算机壳体10的特定连接机构对本发明并不重要。将膝上计算机连接到其显示器的枢轴机构在本领域是公知的。
图2示出了图1的膝上计算机被打开到其双显示器位置,其中计算机2的计算机壳体10一侧的旁观者可观看第一显示器6,在计算机2的第二显示器4一侧的旁观者可观看第二显示器4。沿第二显示器4外壳的边缘的橡胶或其它增加摩擦的底脚14有助于在图2所示的双显示器位置时保持绕轴旋转显示屏4和6的位置。或者或另外,铰接件8或12可适于刚性地调整到位以保持第一和第二显示器6和4的位置和方向。这样的铰接件普遍用于常规膝上计算机及其显示器之间的铰接,使得显示器一旦被操作员放在那里即保持其相对位置和方向。
根据本发明的另一方面可以设想,第二显示屏4可被构造成可与第一显示屏6分开,从而些平板部分4可独立于膝上计算机部分6和10单独使用。可拆卸铰接件,包括但不限于那些带有活动铰销的铰接件,均是本领域公知技术。为使第二显示屏4可与第一显示屏6分开,第二显示屏6还需要包括其自己的处理器、存储器和电源。无论第二显示屏4是否连接到第一显示屏6,处理器和电源均可运行,或可被配置成仅在第二显示屏4与第一显示屏6分开而独立使用时才运行。
重新参考图1,计算机壳体10可包括凹槽16和铁笔18,铁笔用于与第二显示屏4上的触敏表面20交互作用。虽然对膝上计算机并不普遍,但触敏显示屏在本领域是公知的,因为其与公共信息站终端一起使用。触敏显示屏4的表面20包括多个可编程显示区,其可识别来自与显示屏4交互作用的旁观者的输入。显示屏4可被构造成通过与特殊构造的铁笔手动接触和/或电子接触而接收输入,铁笔将信号传送给显示器。这些类型的显示器和铁笔在本领域是公知的。适于与本发明一起使用的触敏显示屏4的一个例子为在Fujitsu ComputerSystems Corporation制造的Stylistic 3500平板计算机中使用的触敏显示屏,该公司在Sunnyvale California有专注美国业务的基地。
如下面将更加详细阐述的,摄像机设备/麦克风22也可被包括在第二显示屏4上以与膝上计算机2召开会议。摄像机设备/麦克风22可被内置在外壳内,或在使用期间永久或临时连接到外壳。类似的摄像机设备/麦克风36(图3)也可被包括在第一显示屏6上。
与常规膝上计算机相似,本发明的实施例可包括卡齿元件24和26,通过其第一显示器通过卡齿扣26与计算机壳体10可释放地闭锁。卡齿脱扣器28通常用于从卡齿扣26释放卡齿元件24和26。与用于常规膝上计算机显示器的卡齿类似,但对双显示器膝上计算机是独一无二的,本发明的实施例可在第二显示屏4的背面包括一个或多个卡齿元件30,其与相应的卡齿扣32相互作用以可释放地将第二显示屏4闭锁到第一显示屏6的背面。卡齿脱扣器34也可被包括以从卡齿扣32释放卡齿30。卡齿24和30可用于安全地将膝上计算机2闭锁在其折叠位置(见图4)以方便贮藏、运输或用作书写平板。
第二显示屏4可用于在演示期间提供复制的信息。第二显示屏上的该复制的信息允许操作员和旁观者在桌子周围相对而坐并讨论显示屏上呈现的信息,同时操作员可控制演示。提供软件编程以允许操作员排除第二显示屏上某些不重要的显示内容而把那些显示内容留在第一显示屏上是相当容易的事情。例如,当描述正显示在显示屏上的文档时,操作员可能不想允许这样的不重要信息如工具栏、显示选项或程序信息显示在第二显示屏上,在读或解释被公开或显示在第二显示屏上的文档的信息时其可能干扰旁观者。
当操作员使用根据本发明实施例构造的膝上计算机强调显示给旁观者的信息或文档的特定部分时其特别有利,只需突出该信息或给该信息加下划线,因为旁观者正观看其显示屏;因此,作为操作员行动的结果出现在第一屏幕上的突出或加下划线的信息自动呈现给第二屏幕的旁观者。该特征使操作员能够同时向旁观者强调信息或文档的某些部分并与旁观者讨论该问题。另外,因为根据本发明特定实施例的第二显示屏包括触敏表面20,旁观者也可选择、突出或强调给操作员的特定信息,从而在演示期间双方更容易交互,又不失使用两个单独显示器的优点。
图3所示为图1的膝上计算机2的实施例,但第二显示屏4被向上旋转使得第一显示屏6和第二显示屏4均可由膝上计算机2的操作员看到。由于膝上计算机在该双屏位置,操作员被提供以是单一显示器两倍的显示区。第二显示器4可被编程以显示与显示在第一显示器6上的信息一样的信息,并可被编程以用作完全独立的显示器从而只显示其自己的信息,或可被编程从而连同第一显示屏6一起,在第一显示屏6上显示一半信息并在第二显示屏4上显示另一半信息。第一或第二显示屏6或4可被提供以可选的敏感元件以确定第二显示屏4的方向,且软件可用于向操作员提供将向一致使用两个显示器的单个操作员显示的信息风格的选择。
可选地,或者,第一显示屏6还可包括与上述第二显示屏4的显示表面类似的触敏显示表面38。这允许操作员选择通过第一显示屏6和通过常规手动输入设备40如键盘、触控板或其它光标控制器、功能键等与计算机2交互作用。
图4所示为本发明的膝上计算机2的实施例在其折叠位置。在该位置,膝上计算机2可用作书写平板。图5示出了可与图1的本发明实施例一起使用的可选屏幕保护罩42。罩42可由任何可成形材料如塑料或金属制成。可以设想,罩将咔嗒一声扣在第二显示屏4上,尽管其可被构造成刚好套上显示屏4。
与其它书写平板计算机不同,本发明的实施例可用作演示和召开会议计算机以及平板计算机。到此刻为止,已发现书写平板计算机在特别受限的场合只有有限的可用性,如医疗场合,其中只需要相当少的输入。可以相信,由于可意识到的书写平板的局限性,书写平板在商业领域的应用已经失败。类似地,双屏膝上计算机的使用尚未非常成功。通过书写平板与双屏膝上计算机的独特组合,可以相信,现在两个领域均将能发现销售成功和更加有用。
图6所示为根据本发明实施例构造的膝上计算机的另一实施例。在图6所示的实施例中,单一显示器外壳44容纳第一显示器46和第二触敏显示器48。单一显示器外壳44被枢轴连接到计算机壳体10。在该实施例中,当膝上计算机42在其折叠位置时,第二显示屏48用作与先前实施例中一样的书写平板。然而,第一和第二显示屏46和48均不相互枢轴连接,而是包括在同一显示器外壳44内。这提供了更紧致的设计。实质上刚性的罩,如图5中所示的罩,可用于保护和覆盖第二显示屏48。
与使用双显示屏的本发明的其它实施例一样,通过使用适当的软件和显示器驱动器,当不使用时可有选择地关掉显示屏以保存能量和保持私密性。例如,当膝上计算机在其折叠位置时(图4),不需要第一显示屏显示信息。可以设想,膝上计算机将被编程以在其处于折叠位置时自动关掉第一显示屏。对于另一例子,当膝上计算机打开(图2和6)但没有第二旁观者在计算机操作员对面时,则不需要打开第二显示屏。实际上,由于不必要地耗费能量和他人可能看到保密信息的可能性,在第二显示屏上显示信息是不合需要的。可以设想,膝上计算机将被编程以向操作员提供打开第二显示器和/或选择膝上计算机的工作方式的选项(如双屏操作员(图3)、双屏旁观者(图2和6)、书写平板(图4)、单屏操作员(图2和6)等)。
图7为采用前述本发明各方面的膝上计算机会议系统50。膝上计算机会议系统50包括具有视频头56的膝上计算机52,视频头用于记录计算机操作员的视频和音频图象。与前面的本发明实施例类似,膝上计算机可包括第二显示屏,其是触敏显示屏,尽管对于与会议系统实施例一起使用的膝上计算机,并不要求本发明的这一方面。其它适当构造的膝上计算机可类似地执行结合图7描述的系统所需要的膝上计算机52的必要功能。一个或多个交互监视器54可通过电缆53连接到膝上计算机52,电缆包括数据信号和电力。因此,监视器通过膝上计算机52、通过其电池或其它电源进行供电。
用于视频会议的常规监视器要求每一个均具有其自己的独立电源。在许多环境下,没有足够数量的独立插塞用于多个视频会议监视器,且在其它环境中,根本没有独立的插塞。通过在膝上计算机52上提供电源插座,其向分开的显示器供电,且适当构造的、绝缘的和有屏蔽的电缆向显示器54提供数据和电力,从而不需要单独的电源插座且视频会议可虚拟地在任何地方进行。每一显示器54可包括用于记录视频和音频图象的视频装置56、及触敏显示表面58和可选铁笔59以允许旁观者与显示器交互作用。另外,可使用无线监视器60,其包括其自己的电源64和无线发射机/接收机62。在计算机处理器之间的无线信号的发射和接收在本领域是公知技术,并可通过任意数量的方法实现,如WiFi、蓝牙、射频、及本领域已知的任何其它方法。
在一特定的实施例中,每一显示器52、54和60(膝上计算机也用作显示器)包括交互接口(或通过膝上计算机52的键盘或屏幕,或通过其它监视器54和60的触敏屏幕)和视频头56。膝上计算机包括被配置来识别每一监视器54或60并接收视频/音频信号及从每一监视器54或60的旁观者接收的任何交互的软件。之后,每一显示器52、54和60显示从每一其它监视器接收的视频和音频信号,视频信号该显示器上的单独窗口中显示,且播放音频信号,就像所有参与者均在同一房间内一样。可以相信,音频/视频信号处理领域的那些一般技术人员均可容易地从提供的描述显示和播放音频/视频信号。无疑可以设想,本发明的会议系统将不仅仅由图7所示的同一会议桌周围的参与者使用,而是,会议桌周围的参与者将与远程位置的其它参与者开会,可能通过因特网或其它通信媒介。

Claims (20)
1、膝上计算机,包括:
枢轴连接到膝上计算机外壳的第一显示屏,膝上计算机至少具有键盘、微处理器和计算机存储器;及
触敏第二显示屏,其被构造成通过该显示屏从旁观者接收输入,第二显示屏连接到第一显示屏,第二显示屏可移到第一位置,在该位置,相互面对的第一人和第二人也可分别面向第一和第二显示屏。
2、根据权利要求1的膝上计算机,其中第二显示屏铰接连接到第一显示屏。
3、根据权利要求2的膝上计算机,其中第二显示屏的背面在贮藏时面向第一显示屏的背面,第一显示屏的前面的观看表面在贮藏时面向键盘,使得在第一显示屏处于贮藏状态时第二显示屏的前面观看表面暴露。
4、根据权利要求1的膝上计算机,其中第一显示屏也是触敏显示屏。
5、根据权利要求1的膝上计算机,还包括适于可移动覆盖第二显示屏的保护罩。
6、根据权利要求1的膝上计算机,还包括适于可拆卸覆盖第二显示屏的保护罩。

8、根据权利要求1的膝上计算机,还包括被配置来向单独计算机显示器提供电力和数据信号的塞绳连接器。
9、膝上计算机,包括:
容纳至少键盘、微处理器和计算机存储器的基座;
铰接连接到基座的第一显示屏;
枢轴连接到第一显示屏的第二显示屏,使得第二显示屏可从第一位置旋转到第二位置,其中在第一位置,第二显示屏与第一显示屏邻接,在第二位置,第二显示屏的底缘与第一显示屏的底缘分开,当第二显示屏被旋转到其第二位置时,第一和第二显示屏面向不同的方向;
其中第二显示屏是被构造成通过该显示屏从旁观者接收输入的触敏显示屏。
10、根据权利要求8的膝上计算机,第一显示屏也是触敏显示屏。

17、膝上计算机会议系统,包括至少具有键盘、微处理器和计算机存储器的膝上计算机,膝上计算机还包括被配置来独立于膝上计算机向第一显示屏提供电力和显示信号的塞绳连接器。
18、根据权利要求17的膝上计算机会议系统,其中第一单独的显示屏也是触敏显示屏。
